There are many places to see lovely giant pandas in China. But where is the best place for you to go for a special panda trip What is the best time to go Here are some recommendations.
If you just want to see giant pandas, we recommend you to go to Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Base. It is the most easily accessible panda base. You can see pandas at different ages. This base is huge but usually crowded.
If you are looking for a deeper panda experience, you can join a panda volunteer program. Giant panda volunteer programs are available in three panda bases: Dujiangyan, Wolong, and Bifengxia. They take about 1 to 3 days or longer. Dujiangyan is the best place for a one-day program. If you want a less-crowded environment, consider Wolong and Bifengxia, though they require 2 or more days. Your work would include weighing and cleaning bamboo, making panda cakes, watching pandas being fed, and cleaning pandas’ enclosures (围场). At the end of the program, you will receive a panda keeper certificate.
Giant pandas don’t go into winter sleep. You can visit them in all four seasons. Spring and autumn are the best times to see pandas when they are most active and temperatures are most comfortable. If you visit between August and November, you will probably see lovely panda babies.
Giant pandas spend almost half their time sleeping. Grown-up giant pandas in captivity (圈养) usually eat twice a day: early in the morning and late in the afternoon. They usually sleep around noon, any time from around 10:00 a. m. to around 2:00 p. m. Many people prefer eating out instead of cooking at home. A change appears to be taking place, though, and millennials are leading the way. According to one survey, more young people are starting to cook at home for three basic reasons: They can save money, eat healthy and waste less food.
Popular TV chefs are also getting millennials excited about learning some basic cooking skills. Many millennials view cooking as a form of entertainment and self-expression. They proudly post pictures of their cooking creations on Facebook or Instagram, and invite friends over to share the cooking experience.
Many millennials have also found ways to avoid wasting food. After roasting a chicken, they put the leftover bones in their freezer instead of the garbage can. Later, they use the bones to make chicken stock which is an important ingredient in many dishes.
They also hate throwing out fruit that’s too old. To avoid that situation, they bake ripe fruit like berries and bananas for 15 minutes at 175 degrees C. Then they freeze it overnight. After that, they place the fruit in plastic bags and store it their freezer for later use.
Now any millennials only eat at restaurants that have excellent food-waste policies. These servants use every part of the vegetables they buy, including their stems and roots, in dishes. They also use beef, chicken and pork bones to make their own stock.
Millennials also reduce food waste by only buying what they require. Before going to a market, they write down what they need and don’t buy anything else. They way they won’t purchase more food than they can consume.

I love holidays! There’s nothing better than jetting off to a foreign destination to visit the attractions it has on offer. Of course, I’m not alone. Millions of people are doing the same, and why not The world has an amazing variety of must-see sights, from breathtaking natural scenery to impressive old cities. But the problem is that too many of us are visiting them at the same time, putting pressure on these delicate and ancient places.
That’s why a number of beauty spots and historic sites have been introducing charges or restrictions on the tourists who visit. There are many reasons for this: to reduce overcrowding, which can spoil the atmosphere of a place, to manage wear and tear on old buildings, to tidy up the mess that visitors leave behind, or-as some may suggest-creating tourist traps to make more money out of the visitors.
The famous Italian city of Venice with its picturesque canals has, for example, introduced an entry fee of up to?10 for short-stay tourists. Venetians have long complained that mass tourism is wearing out the city. Now, passengers arriving by cruise ship will have to pay a “landing tax” which Mayor Luigi Brugnaro says, “would generate much-needed income to keep the city clean.”
Many cities in Europe already charge an occupancy tax on tourists who stay in hotels and guest houses. In the UK, Edinburgh is hoping to do the same, controversially making it the first city in the country to do so. This tax that is usually charged per person per night of accommodation raises money to help protect the environment, pay for infrastructure (基础建设), or promote tourism.
In Italy’s capital city, Rome, new laws are being introduced to clamp down on bad tourist behavior, which some argue is spoiling the look and feel of the city. Rules include banning drinking water from fountains and attaching “love padlocks” to bridges.
As more of us can now afford to travel, global tourist destinations are going to get busier, so maybe new taxes and laws are going to be a necessary part of the sightseeing experience.
12. Why do many attractions introduce charges or restrictions on tourists
A. To relieve stress on the fine and old places. B. To adopt a hunger- marketing strategy.
C. To pay for cruise ship and accommodation. D. To include a necessary part of sightseeing.
13. Why does the author mention Edinburgh
A. To stress the importance of tourism. B. To give another example of tourist tax.
C. To encourage people to pay tax. D. To recommend hotels and guest houses.
14. Which word could best replace the underlined phrase “clamp down on” in paragraph 5
A. Spoil. B. Spot. C. Prohibit. D. Promote.
15. What may be the author’s opinion about the new taxes and laws
A. They will lead to more crowded sites. B. The effect will die down.
C. They will encounter strong opposition. D. The trend will spread out.
