Quiet Quitting
While not a new concept, the term “quiet quitting” has recently gained popularity on social media.
体裁 主题语境 难度
说明文 躺平 ★★★★☆
  What is quiet quitting
Quiet quitting doesn't mean an employee has left their job, but rather has limited their tasks to avoid working longer hours. 1. _______________ ______________________________________. They stick to what is in their job description and when they go home, they leave work behind them and focus on non-work duties and activities.
1.C 空后一句说明了员工会把工作和生活明确分开,保持工作与生活的平衡,这与选项C所表达的意思一致,是对选项C的具体说明;同时,选项C与上一句衔接合理,符合语境。
C.They set clear boundaries to improve work-life balance
2._____________________________________________________ ___________________________. It may also mean they are ready to change positions or may be currently looking for another job.

E.However, quiet quitting could be a sign that an employee is not happy in their position
  3.________________________________________?
Quiet quitting may be a popular term, but this practice isn't new. Workers have quietly quit their jobs for years to look for something new, whether it was because of poor pay, unmanageable workload, burnout or lack of growth opportunities.
3.A 分析文章结构可知,空处为段落主题句,且空后为问号,故答案范围限定在A、B两项中。根据下文中的“Workers have quietly quit their jobs...lack of growth opportunities.”可知,这部分主要在讲述员工躺平的原因。
A.Why are employees quietly quitting
Working from home has also changed the dynamics of the workplace because employees and managers are communicating in different ways through online meetings. These interactions may feel more formal than the chat sessions that happen in an office. Limited meetings can cause a disconnect between employees and management. 4. _________________ __________________________________________________________.
4.F 空前一句提到有限的会议可能会导致员工和管理层之间的脱节。选项F进一步说明了有限的会议所造成的不利影响,句意承接上文,符合语境。
F.Regular support and praise that make employees feel valued and connected can get lost
  How can businesses help employees
The biggest way to prevent disengagement is to improve the employees' experience. Talk to employees, gather their feedback and discuss what can be done to make them feel appreciated. Make sure workloads are realistic and that there are appropriate boundaries to maintain a work-life balance.
Further, managers should clearly outline paths of career progression to each employee. 5.______________________________________________ ___________________________. A recent report revealed that more than half of employees surveyed would accept 10% less pay in exchange for a “more interesting career path or more opportunities to learn new skills”.
5.D 空前一句提到管理者应该让员工看到明确的发展目标,选项D与空前一句衔接合理,进一步说明了员工有了明确目标会带来的结果,符合语境。
D.Employees are more likely to be engaged when they have specific targets
A.Why are employees quietly quitting

2.G 上文提到一个令人痛苦的事实:旅行很昂贵。分析选项,G项中的“it's also true”承接上文,符合语境,且G项中的“many of us give up easily”呼应下文中的“when you feel defeated”。

I asked myself, though, what if I picked up a side job and used that cash to pay the debt, too Personally, I was surprised at the possibilities the answer offered; and it made me feel less stuck. Waiting two years for a trip was better than spending two years frustrated and restless.
Make the most of the wait
Oddly enough, we might be happier planning and expecting a trip more than we are actually taking it. A research published in the journal Applied Research found that anticipation played an important role in pre-trip happiness between vacationers and non-vacationers .
Holiday trips are experiences which people look forward to. For most, the enjoyment starts weeks, even months before the holiday actually begins. 3._____________________________________________________________________.

D.But a dictionary can be a pleasure to read.
E.Of course, a dictionary is not only for spelling.
F.That means good grammar and no spelling mistakes.
G.Dictionaries don't always give you enough information.
Not all great writers are great spellers. If you want to be published, it's vital to submit a perfect, professionally presented manuscript (原稿). 36._______________________________________________ No editor is likely to tolerate a writer who does not take the trouble to spell words correctly.
F.That means good grammar and no spelling mistakes.
A.I don't often use this dictionary.
B.It takes no account of the context.
C.But I still don't want to replace them.
D.But a dictionary can be a pleasure to read.
E.Of course, a dictionary is not only for spelling.
F.That means good grammar and no spelling mistakes.
G.Dictionaries don't always give you enough information.

C.Travel for you and no one else.
A.Visit during off-peak times.

D.Can overtourism be avoided then
E.You can still find relatively undiscovered places.
