Hamlet is the first of Shakespeare’s four tragedies. From this point of view, why is this a tragedy
factor 1
factor 2
factor 3
Voice your opinion
The first factor is reality. The beginning of Hamlet’s tragedy comes from all kinds of reality. The death of his father, the usurpation(篡夺) of the throne by his uncle and the remarriage of his mother completely shattered his ideals and beliefs. He changed from a “Happy Prince” to a “Melancholy(忧郁的) Prince”. This inner change was due to his disappointment in reality and life.
factor 1
Voice your opinion
The second factor is personality. The tragedy of Hamlet is the tragedy of character. Indeed, Hamlet not only shines with the glory of humanists, but also inevitably loses the thought of the old era. In this way, the conflict between the two inevitably leads to his complex thought and opposite character, hesitation, sensitivity, uncontrollable paranoia(猜疑) and fanaticism(狂热), which may also be the biggest tragedy of Hamlet’s character.
factor 2
Voice your opinion
The third factor is fate. His tragedy lies in fate. He kept thinking about his situation and fate, and how to solve problems and confront fate. For Hamlet, what he faces is not only the problem of revenge, but also the problem of fighting against evil forces, ugly and unfair society, and the misfortune imposed on him by fate.
factor 3
Homework
