This is my fourth visit to space,my second to the International Space Station(ISS),and I've been here for threeweeks now.I'm getting better at knowing where Iam when I first wake up.
My bedroom is just big enough for me and my sleeping bag,two laptops, some clothes, photos of my wife and daughters,a few books.Getting dressed is a little bit difficultwhen I can't"sit"or"stand",but I've gotten used to it.The most challenging thing is putting on my socks. It's not a challenge to figure out what to wear, since I wear the same thing every day. However, without gravity(重力)to help me bend over,it is very difficultto pull my legs upto my chest.
At present,we have three Americans living at the station:Samantha,Terry and me.Samantha is one of the few women to have served as a fighter pilot in the Italian Air Force, and she is competent in everything technical. She is also friendly and quick to laugh. She is especially gifted for language. She has native-level fluency in English and Russian(the two official languages of the ISS)as well as French,German, and her native Italian. She is also working on learning Chinese.
For some people who hope to fly in space, language can be a challenge. We all have to be able to speak a second language(I've been studying Russian for years),but the European and Japanese astronauts have the added burden of leaming two languages if they don't already speak English or Russian.
Terry was a test pilot before joining NASA.He has all the positive qualities of a leader—optimism, enthusiasm, fiendliness—and none of the negative ones.I've found that he can handle everything, and I appreciate that as a leaderhe is an emotional bond builder rather than a bosy commander(长官).Since I've been up here,he has always been respectful of my previous experience, always open to suggestions about how to do things betterrather than getting defensive or competitive.
24.Why does the author findit challenging to puton his socks at the ISS
A.He has too many choices. B.It is hard to bring his legs up.
C.The bedroom is too small. D.Hecan't find a chair to sit on.
25.Samantha has left the deepest impression on the author probably because of her

B.All the ISS astronauts have to be able to speak three languages.
C.European and Japanese astronauts are not good at communication. D.There are language workshops on the Intermational Space Station.

Having fiends alone isn't enough for good health—regular in-person interactions(交流)are necessary. A study ofalmost 13,000 individuals revealed that meeting friends in person at least once a week was closely connected to improved mental and physical well-being,while virtual(虚拟的)communication, like texting or calling, didn't provide the same benefits.
Researchers discovered that in Japan men who saw their friends rarely bad a 30%higher risk of death compared to those who met more often. While it's possible that healthier people are simply more likely to socialize, the link between regular in-person contact and better health isclear, especially as more people tum to online communication.According to the American Time Use Survey, time spent with friends has dropped
sharply in recent years.
Social interaction helps lower the risk of diseases such as heart disease, stroke, and even cancer.Julianne Holt Lunstad,a neuroscientist, explains that social connections are consistently linked to better health.Friends can encourage healthy habits and share important information, like where to get a flu shot, says Eric Kim,a professor of psychology.
Interestingly, our sense of smell may also play a part in face-to-face interactions.Research suggests that body odor(气味)can communicate emotions like fear or happiness, and smelling the scent of a loved one has been shown to reduce stress. In one study, people who smelled a friend's T-shirt stayed calmer in stressful
situations.Additionally,in-person meetings seem to benefit the immune(免疫的)system. The study found that face-to-face contact improved the function of genes(基因)linked to the immune system, while online interactions didn't have the sameeffect.
Although texting or sending photos throughsocial media can help keepfriendships alive, fordeeper, more meaningful connections,we need more than just seeing someone on a screen.Using other senses, such as smell, is a key part of these interactions, even if we don't realize it.“It makes all the difference,"says Groot.
28.What leads to improved health according to the study
A.Increased socialmedia interactions.
B.Joining in physical activities alone.
C.Regular face-to-face meetingswith friends.
D.Exchanging information through virtual communication.
29.What benefits of in-person meetingwithour friends arementioned inthe study
A.Reduced stress and improved physical health. B.Improved memoryand reduced risk of disease.
C.Balanced diet and increased physical strength. D.Better immune function and reduced use of
technology.
30.What does Groot mean by "It makes allthe difference"in the last paragraph
A.Using more senses creates closer relationships. B.Seeing someone on ascreen offers similar
benefits.
C.Smell is important for buildingstronger connections.D.Regular social media contact keeps friendships alive.
31.How does the author support the main points
A.By sharing personal stories and experiences related to communication.
B.By explaining differences between virtual and in-person communication.
2
3
C.By discussing trends insocial media use and their impact onfriendships.
D.By providing research studiesand expert opinions to support the argument.

The Greek philosopher(哲学家)Heraclitus taught that you can't step into the same river twice, foryou aren't the same person at each visit, and the water is ever flowing. It is a powerful way to represent the reality that everything isalwayschanging.
Yet so many of us have difficulty adapting to change. We deny it,resist(抵抗)it or attempt to control it, the result of which is almost always some combination of stress, anxietyand burnout.
It doesn't have to be that way.No doubt, change can,and often does, hurt. But with the right mind-set,it can also be a force for growth. It's not as if we have any choice in the matter.Like it or not, life is change. We'd be wise to shift our position from useless resistance to beingin conversation withchange instead.
A concept called "allostasis"can help.Developed in the late 1980s by Peter Sterling and Joseph Eyer, allostasis is defined as "stability through change".In other words, the way to stay stable through the process of change is by changing,at least to some extent
From neuroscience to pain science and psychology, allostasis has become the standard model for understanding change in the scientific community. The brain is at its best when it is constantly making new connections.Overcoming pain,be it physical or psychological, isnot about resistance(which often worsens the experience)or trying to get back to whereyou were before a distressing eventor situation. It's about balancing acceptance with problem-solving and movingforward to a newnormal.
Yet this concept is sill ittle known to ordinary people and it is time to start practicing it now.Over the past few years, the riverofchange has been flowing mercilessly, and it shows no signs of letting up.Hardly a decade afer the widespread adoption of social media,a new technology that may be far more powerful, artificial intelligence,is being widely used.
It's like what our friend Heraclitus advised:Take part in change by focusing on what wecan control and trying to let go of what we can't.Our ability to work with these changes is directly related to ourlife satisfaction.
32.What phenomenonis described in the firstparagraph
A.We could have a right mind-set. B.Philosophy exists everywhere.
C.Some people arewiser thanothers. D.Changeis unavoidable in life.
33.How should we deal with changesaccording to the author
A.Pay no attention to them. B.Participate in them.
C.Fight against them. D.Put them under control. 34.What does the underlined phrase "lettingup"in paragraph 6 probably mean
A.Slowingdown. B.Setting off. C.Turning op. D.Putting down.
35.What is the best title for thetext
A.Why Can't We StopChanges in Life
B.How Can We Increase Our Life Satisfaction
C.Let's TransformOur Relationship with Change. D.Try to Help the Public to Understand Allostasis.

W:I have a question for all of us.Is all winning success Winning is really, really fun.But I am here to share my idea:Winning does not always equal success. All around the world,we have created the win-at-all-costs culture. We have become so focused on that end result instead of the process, and particularly when the end result is a win.Real success is developing champions in life for our world, win or lose.We may be able to plan our way to a win,but we can't plan our way to success.Back to 1990,when I was first made the head coach of the UCLA Women's Gymnastics Team.I acted like a head coach whose only thought was to figure out how to win.So I became tough talking and mean. Our team asked me for a team meeting for over two hours. They gave me examples of how my arrogance was hurtful. Then I chose to change. It is so much easier to give orders than to figure out how to motivate someone to be better. We all know this motivation takes a really long time to take root. The key to promote motivation is to develop trust through patience and honesty. We are all coaches in some ways.We all have the responsibility to develop champions in life for our world. This is what real success looks like, and that is what we call a win-win.

Dear Alex,
Learning that you experienced an unexpected failure last week, I am writing to you to share
my thoughts.
As we all know, you are excellent at tennis, but it is still normal to occasionally fail in the
competition. Just as the saying goes, victory and defeat are both common in battle. Therefore,
instead of feeling frustrated and losing heart, you may find it helpful to watch the video,
summarize the reasons for the failure and continue to train hard. I do believe you’re bound to
improve your skills and win more matches.
I sincerely hope that you can enjoy every moment on the tennis court.
Yours,
Li Hua
