A Beijing girl surnamed Zhou gave herself a perfect birthday gift in February. The Beijing based Internet company employee got a 200 yuan($27.59) cake for half the usual price. The 30 year old said the cake happened to be her favorite taste and she felt it was the most exceptional find in her year and a half long buying of “leftover blind boxes”—or randomly packed boxes of unsold food and drinks available at discounted rates.
Zhou is one among many middle aged and young people who are increasingly using WeChat's leftover blind box mini program Cherish Magic Bag, which satisfies consumers' needs while recommends a low carbon, low waste lifestyle. After paying online through the program, consumers can collect the randomly packed boxes of leftover food during appointed time, typically just before closing time, between 8 and 10 p.m.
“The original price is generally two to three times the price on the program,” Zhou said, adding that by placing 194 such orders, she ensured that food worth 5,700 yuan, accounting for 520 kilograms in carbon dioxide emissions, did not go to waste. “I appreciate the environmental concept of the program. In addition, I'm curious and open to trying out different cuisines and new approaches,” she said, adding that she regularly checks for new additions on the program and tries them out.
Despite the discounted prices, Zhou said the quality of the service remains good, encouraging her to buy more using the program.
“The program gets along with the development trend of Internet Plus, in agreement with the sustainable(可持续的) development concept, and provides a simple approach to dealing with food wastage by actively engaging with the public,” said Luo Xueming, chief expert at the Guangdong Modern Urban Industrial Technology Research Institute. However, Luo also stressed food quality and safety issues concerning perishable(易腐坏的) products, and emphasized the need to increase consumers' awareness about food resources, which is important for enlarging the user base and ensuring the long term success of the initiative. “Once it is widely carried out, this program will hold significant importance for China's food security strategy,” he said.

A. It's sold to the blind. B. It is available anytime.

C[2024丽水五校期中]
On March 6, the 2024 Douyin E commerce Female Consumer Trend Data Report showed that in 2023, the sales of horse faced skirts—a type of hanfu, the traditional style of clothing worn by the Han people—increased by 841 percent compared to last year. “I've noticed that there are so many people wearing horse faced skirts on the streets now, from young women to children; it's unbelievable,” said Wang Zicheng, a 23 year old hanfu lover.
He recalled that when he wore hanfu for the first time in 2018, it was still a minority interest. Now, he is confident wearing it everywhere, even outside of China.
As hanfu gains popularity, traditional costume and modern fashion are combining, influencing not only clothing styles but also people's understanding. Some hanfu enthusiasts argue that each design and structural form of hanfu carries great historical and cultural significance, insisting that these details should be adhered to strictly.
However, other consumers prioritize the beauty and comfort of the clothing.
Zhou Shuang, 37, specializes in character styling for film and television. She pointed out that for those unfamiliar with traditional clothing culture, it's understandable for them to desire a combination of elegance with modern fashion.
This combination is referred to as the neo Chinese style. “Neo Chinese style clothing design doesn't merely layer traditional elements, but combines modernity and tradition naturally,” explained Zhou. “It aims to showcase traditional charm suiting the preferences of today's Chinese.” Despite the growing hanfu trend in China, there is a lack of understanding among people abroad. According to Wang, he traveled to many countries while wearing hanfu. “They guessed about the origin of my clothes, but none correctly identified that it's from China,” Wang said. He believed this is because people in other countries have few chances to see real hanfu clothes and accessories.
A possible solution could be integrating hanfu into everyday clothes. Indeed, Zhou's students are exploring ways to preserve hanfu's cultural heritage while considering the demands of all daily fashion choices.
( ) 8. What does Wang Zicheng's experience detailed in Paragraph 1 reflect
A. The diversity of hanfu enthusiasts.
B. The cultural significance of hanfu.
C. The reasons for hanfu's popularity.
D. The increasing recognition of hanfu.
( ) 9. According to Wang Zicheng, why was his hanfu not correctly identified when he was traveling
A. His hanfu did not represent a typical style.
B. Western tourists show little interest in hanfu.
C. Hanfu mixes clothing styles from other countries.
D. People abroad were unfamiliar with hanfu culture.
( )10. What are Zhou's students doing now
A. Cooperating with daily fashion designers.
B. Promoting traditional Chinese clothing abroad.
C. Interpreting traditional hanfu in a modern way.
D. Studying the historical development of the hanfu style.
( )11. Which of the following can be the best title
A. Dressed in the Past B. A Hanfu Lover
C. The Influence of Hanfu D. Preserve Clothes Culture
D[2024嘉兴期末]
People greet each other in various ways, such as saying “hello” in different languages or through physical actions like shaking hands, giving hugs, or exchanging kisses. Similarly, elephants have various greetings, as revealed by a recent study conducted on African elephants in Zimbabwe's Jafuta Reserve. “Female elephants of different family groups might have strong social bonds(纽带) with each other, forming what we call bond groups,” said Vesta Eleuteri of the University of Vienna, the lead writer of the study. “Earlier studies in the wild have reported that when these groups meet, the elephants perform special greetings to announce and strengthen their social bonds.”
The study identified around 20 specific movements related with elephant greetings, often accompanied by different sounds as well. Smell also plays a crucial role in greetings, with elephants exhibiting behaviors like emitting(排放) body waste. Besides, elephants make gestures(动作) meant to be seen, such as spreading their ears or displaying their behinds, and employ touching gestures involving touching other elephants. They actually show an understanding of what other elephants can see, using visual gestures when their partners are looking and touching gestures when they are not.
Similar greeting behaviors have been observed in various animals, which help manage social situations by reducing tension or confirming social bonds. The study observed both female and male elephants in the reserve, with female greetings closely matching those of wild elephants, while male greetings appeared different. Wild male elephants often don't form close connections with others but use their noses to touch the heads of other elephants, giving off a chemical called temporin containing important information.
Elephant greetings play an important part in communication and social bonding among these intelligent creatures. Through their gestures, sounds, and smells, elephants deliver important information about their identity, physical state, and emotional well being.
( )12. What do we know about elephant greetings from Paragraph 1
A. They are performed mainly by male elephants.
B. They are used to show power within the group.
C. They include physical actions similar to humans'.
D. They strengthen social bonds between family groups.
( )13. How do elephants show awareness of what others see
A. They produce different smells.
B. They make as many gestures as possible.
C. They make use of sounds to draw attention.
D. They employ visual or touching gestures accordingly.
( )14. What methods were adopted in the recent study on elephants
A. Interviews and surveys. B. Observation and comparison.
C. Model design and creation. D. Experiments and data collection.
( )15. Which of the following is the best title for the text
A. Secret in Elephant Behaviors
B. Science Behind Elephant Sounds
C. Exploration of Elephant Greetings
D. New Light on Elephant Movements

第二节(满分25分)[2024潍坊期末]
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I was busily preparing for our Saturday night barbecue(烧烤), a weekly tradition that brought our family together. Suddenly, our daughter Rikki stormed in through the front door, her face clouded with anger. Without a word, she marched straight to her room, leaving me with a sense of anxiety.
I looked out of the window and saw her classmate Lexi walking away sadly. My mother's intuition(直觉) told me that this situation might need some gentle guidance. So I called Rikki out to the kitchen, hoping to start a conversation about what had happened.
Rikki stood before me with a stubborn look on her face, the kind that kids get when they know they've done something wrong but are too proud to admit it. “I noticed that Lexi came over, but she didn't stay long,” I said gently. “She's your age and goes to the same school as you. Why doesn't she stay longer?”
Rikki said, “I don't like her. I wish she would stop coming over here all the time. She dresses terrible, and sometimes she doesn't smell good.”
I sighed and said, “That's not her fault, Rikki. Maybe she doesn't have anyone to help her with things like that. Some kids don't have the extra things that you and your friends have. But that doesn't make the many less worthy than you. Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.”
Rikki nodded but her expression didn't change. Her father had been watching from the backyard where he was grilling(烧烤). He didn't like the way Rikki had treated Lexi, so he decided to take action. He came over to me and said, “Let's go and see Lexi.” Then he called Rikki over and asked her to get in the car. Together we drove straight to Lexi's house.

And they also enable us to have a closer connection with others.”和下文“Here experts will tell you how to discover the hobbies you don't know you'll love.”

动词短语deserve to do sth表示“值得做某事”;that为关系代词,做主语,代替先行词traditional Chinese virtues,与admire之间应为被动关系,表示“中国传统美德值得被钦佩”,故应用to be done的形式。

第二节 One possible version:
At_Lexi's_house,_Rikki_was_shocked_to_see_how_different_her_life_was. Entering the yard, a shabby house which stood lonely came into view and seemed to be in need of repair. Lexi's mother welcomed us warmly, though her eyes revealed the hardship they were enduring. Inside the house, the decrepit furniture as well as the crumbling walls spoke about their financial struggles in silence. Rikki's eyes widened as she witnessed the evident contrast between her own home and Lexi's, making her realized how awful she was.
Rikki_invited_Lexi_to_come_over_and_have_dinner_with_us._At first, Lexi hesitated, but Rikki's understanding and genuine smile convinced her. During the barbecue, Rikki introduced Lexi to everyone, ensuring she felt included. That night, as they all sat under the stars, their eyes sparkled with cheerful light, through which I could see the evident transformation in Rikki. The stubbornness had been replaced by a warm, inclusive behavior. This weekly night barbecue tradition not only brought our family together but also let Rikki learn a valuable lesson about empathy and kindness, which made the evening memorable.
