Founded in 1846, ZEISS has been at the forefront of optical (光学的) expertise for decades. The new line of trail cameras will give you a chance to enter the world of those hard-to-detect animals.
HOW DOES IT WORK
Everything is pre-installed and the intelligent default settings (默认设置) mean you can “plug in and play” immediately. As the motion sensor detects movement, it adjusts the intensity of the “flash” — which is invisible to humans and wildlife.
REMOTE CONTROL
Though it has an SD card to record what it finds, the ZEISS also has a multi-network SIM card that sends the findings to your smartphone. You can even change the camera’s settings from your phone. It also means that you can set up the ZEISS anywhere in the wild and it will find a phone signal to communicate back to you.
EYE ON THE WILD
The ZEISS is a brilliant way to allow yourself deeper in the natural world and record the lives of animals normally out of reach. It not only captures the highest quality images and videos of fascinating behaviour but delivers them to you within seconds.
Visit www.zeiss.ly/wl-sc for more information. If you are setting it up in a public place, make sure you have the appropriate permissions.
1. How does the motion sensor work when movement is detected
A. By sending signals to the multi-network SIM card.
B. By catching a clearly visible flash of the wildlife.
C. By adjusting the camera’s flash to different levels.
D. By sending a warning to your smartphone owner.
2. What is the main function of the ZEISS trail camera
A. To provide the optical research. B. To serve as the security purposes.
C. To offer a platform for sharing wildlife. D. To capture the wildlife images and videos.
3. Where can you get more information about ZEISS
A. From an advertisement. B. From a website.
C. From a magazine. D. From a television program.

Dr. Myron Rolle, who shifted to his childhood dream of becoming a neurosurgeon (神经外科医生) after his N.F.L. (美国国家橄榄球联盟) career was stopped.
He grew up in New Jersey. At 11 he’d read Gifted Hands, Ben Carson’s popular 1990 autobiography. It detailed how Carson went from being an inner-city youth with poor grades to the director of neurosurgery. After reading it, Rolle started running after two dreams. He wanted to be a professional football player and a neurosurgeon like Carson.
For years, the neurosurgeon dream lay dormant. Rolle stood out playing as a defensive back for Florida State University (FSU). The Titans drafted him in 2010. But the football dream didn’t go as planned. Rolle played in no regular-season N.F.L. games. The Titans parted ways with him in 2011.
He returned home to New Jersey, where he sank into a panic. His mother showed him his grade-school notebook. He saw where he had written both goals. “She looked me straight in the eyes and pointed at the first one,” he recalled. “She said, ‘This one’s done. Now we need to do this.’”
“It was the most depressed I’ve been in my life,” he said. When asked how much he struggled with giving up his N.F.L. dream, he referred to the 2 percent philosophy that he picked up from his football coach at FSU — Can you be 2 percent better than you were yesterday You can if you take small steps every single day toward a larger goal.
“If you look at the outside, you will see my story as maybe something that is unable to achieve. I played in the N.F.L. and I was a Rhodes Scholar and now neurosurgeon. But doubts and uncertainty really went throughout my life. Dealing with work-life balance issues or challenges in the workplace — I just found ways to overcome these challenges.”
4. What inspired Myron Rolle to struggle for his dreams when he was young
A. The popularity of Gifted Hands. B. The story of N.F.L. game.
C. Ben Carson’s struggling experience. D. Ben Carson’s failure lesson.
5. What do the underlined words “lay dormant” in Paragraph 3 mean
A. Came true. B. Went smooth. C. Fell apart. D. Lay aside.
6. What was the most disappointing moment for Myron Rolle
A. Giving up the football dream. B. Going back to his hometown.
C. Letting his mother down. D. Seeing the former notebook.
7. What can we learn from Rolle’s words in the last paragraph
A. Challenges bring precious opportunities. B. Everything happens for some reason.
C. When one door closes, another opens. D. Enthusiasm keeps dream come true.

Perhaps you’ve seen a giant sculpture of a fork, and wondered, how on Earth is this art I’ll bet you didn’t dare ask it out loud, for fear of looking awkward. Luckily for us, Bianca Bosker is willing to dive into the art world in Get the Picture, where she explores the spiritual richness art itself provides.
She sets out to develop what art lovers call an “Eye” a keen perception (感知) to separate the “good” art from the“bad”. She finds out that the art world can be tough for people who can’t afford art school and there’s a lot of mean behavior from those at the top.
Even though Bosker’s experiences might make you feel less sure about art, she keeps looking deeper and finds out that art can make people happy, whether they’re creating it or just looking at it.
While expanding on the meaning of art, Bosker demonstrates that our brains have a “filter (过滤器)” that helps us quickly understand the world around us. This filter lets us ignore some things and focus on others. This filter allows us to take mental shortcuts and dismiss certain visual details to rapidly process our chaotic environment.
One function of art, Bosker writes, is to remove this filter to reexamine the world with renewed wonder. Art has a curing quality, a fact that’s seized upon by doctors who will ask the patients to visit art museums. Over two dozen medical schools require students to study paintings to avoid jumping to conclusions. Instead of lecturing from an authoritative angle, Bosker lets readers witness at eye level her growing clarity of art’s function.
In the end, readers don’t get a complete answer for humankind’s fascination with art. Bosker instead offers her own interpretation: Art is a way to find beauty and heighten our appreciation for life. In laying bare the truth of an “Eye”. Bosker argues that art is everywhere and can be anything, as long as we’re open to letting what we see move us. By the last page, you’ll be forced to revisit that fork sculpture and behold the artwork with fresh eyes.
8. What is the main purpose of Get the Picture
A. To criticize the sculpture art world. B. To prove that art has no spiritual value.
C. To explain how to appreciate art. D. To argue that art has no curing quality.
9. What does the term “Eye” refer to in the second paragraph
A. The ability to perceive art critically. B. A physical condition that affects vision.
C. A type of art school training program. D. The way artists sign their own work.
10. What does Bosker suggest in the last paragraph
A. We should appreciate art with a professional background.
B. We should be open to letting art affect us emotionally.
C. We should focus on the spiritual value of art works.
D. We should visit art museums as often as we can.
11. What is the text
A. A news report. B. A book review. C. A children’s story. D. A diary entry.
D
Researchers at the University of Sussex have used AI to access online records from Facebook, Twitter, Google, and Bing, to map the global extent of threats to bats from hunting and trade, and refocus conservation efforts.
The team developed an automated system which allowed them to conduct large scale searches across multiple platforms. Using AI, they filtered (筛选) tens of thousands of results to find relevant data. Any observations or anecdotes of bat exploitation were used to develop a global database of “bat exploitation records”.
To better understand threats to bats, the team compared online records with academic records, knowing that data and information shared online is influenced by factors including global events and where people have access to the Internet.
Lead author, Bronwen Hunter at the University of Sussex says, “Using data sources like this provides a low-cost way to help us understand threats to wildlife globally. AI allowed us to access the data at scale and complete a global analysis, which isn’t something we would have been able to achieve using traditional field studies.”
“Another benefit of using online data combined with automated data filtering is that more information can be obtained in real-time, ensuring that we can keep up to date with current threats.”
Bats make up about a fifth of all mammal species globally, and have a vital role in ecosystems. They spread seeds and help with pest control. Over half of bat species are considered as either “Threatened with Extinction” or “Data Deficient” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Much less is known about the impact of hunting and trade of bats compared with other mammals. However, their very low reproductive rate and longevity - usually 10~30 years - makes them likely to be vulnerable on a scale more commonly associated with much larger mammals such as chimpanzees, bears or lions.
Being able to expand knowledge of bat interaction using crowd-sourced digital records can help identify bat populations most in need of conservation action, or feed into global assessments, such as the IUCN Red List.
12. How did the team use AI to gather relevant data for their study
A. By conducting interviews with experts in the field.
B. By performing a hands-on search through social media
C. By sorting through results across different platforms.
D. By using research data only from academic records.
13. Which is the advantage of using online data according to Bronwen Hunter
A. It reduces the risk of conducting wildlife studies.
B. It allows for real-time updates on wildlife threats.
C. It enables the data collection from remote areas.
D. It increases the accuracy of the field studies.
14. Why might bats be more likely to be affected by threats
A. They are of high economic value and easily hunted.
B. They are more affected by global natural disasters.
C. They have a lower reproductive rate and longer lifespan.
D. They are more dependent on specific habitats for survival.
15. What is the text mainly about
A. Bats are in greater danger of extinction.
B. Bats hunting and trade should be banned.
C. AI is used to provide help for wildlife protection.
D. AI is used to help identify global threats to bats.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
It’s party season, and if your idea of holiday cheer is a quiet night in, then rest easy. ____16____ But a recent report has examined the potential consequences of refusing an invitation for a social outing, and found that people tend to overestimate just how much it matters.
One of the researchers, Julian Givi from West Virginia University, was inspired by his own personal experiences. He shared, “I received an invitation to a distant wedding that I wasn’t keen on attending. ____17____” This internal conflict led him to wonder whether people might be overly concerned about the potential negative outcomes of saying no, questioning if these consequences were real or imagined.
To explore this, the study involved a diverse group of over 2,000 individuals across five different experiments. ____18____ The results indicated that those invited to events often had a strong sense of worry. They feared that refusing an invitation would upset the host and suggested a lack of interest or care. This perception gap arises because invitees tend to overestimate how much hosts focus on the act of refusing rather than the thought process that led to the decision.
It’s important to note that this doesn’t mean you should casually reject all invitations. ____19____ If the event involves a financial commitment, such as a dinner or a show, include this in your explanation for not attending. Politely refuse the invitation but put forward an alternative activity at a later date to indicate your continued interest and value in the relationship. ____20____
A. However, I felt driven and forced to go.
B. A wide range of people actively participated in the study.
C. Givi suggests strategies for politely refusing an invitation.
D. Science has long found it’s OK to say no to social invitations.
E. It’s just getting on my nerves at the thought of the long journey.
F. This approach can reduce the attending pressure and improve understanding.
G. Members of each group were asked to imagine themselves in various situations.

Feeling the warmth of my feverish body, I clung to Mummy’s hand as we made our way to the doctor’s office. I liked seeing the doctor because he always gave me a lollipop (棒棒糖). I was going to ask him for a red lollipop today because that was my favorite.
The sun was shining brightly, casting a golden glow on the world outside. I remembered crossing the road and thinking to myself what a lovely day to be outside. Then we went inside to see the doctor and the big woman at the reception desk asked us Mummy’s name and my name and then told us to sit down on the chairs next to the door leading into the corridor. My cough echoed through the reception area, drawing concerned looks from the other patients.
I knew the routine well; we’d been here enough times before. But today, the prospect of sitting still was more than I could bear. So I pulled away from Mummy’s hand and I ran over to the big fish tank that was against the wall near to the door. I watched all the fish swimming up and down and then back up again and I tapped my finger against the glass because I wanted the big goldfish to come and follow my hand or my finger.
For a brief moment, I forgot about my fever and cough, and the world outside the fish tank ceased to exist. It was just me and the fish, a simple interaction that brought me a strange sense of comfort. Then after a little bit Mummy called me over to her.
The door to the doctor’s room opened and the nurse called my name and I turned around and my mummy stood up. She took my hand and we went in through the door. I suddenly started to feel a bit worried, mainly because I remembered that Mummy had told me I would be getting an injection (注射) today and that I had to be brave.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

I hope this email finds you well. Our school choir, which I have the honor of leading, performed at the school auditorium to welcome some distinguished foreign guests.
We sang a mix of traditional and contemporary pieces, and the audience was deeply moved by our singing. The atmosphere in the auditorium was perfect, and it was a joy to see the smiles on the guests’ faces as they listened. Personally, it was a moment of pride for me. Seeing our hard work pay off was incredibly rewarding. It was a night I’ll remember for a long time.
I wish you could have been there with us.
Yours,
Li Hua

【答案】When the doctor said I would get an injection, I burst into tears. The thought of the needle made me tremble with fear. Mummy knelt down beside me, her eyes filled with understanding. “It’s okay to be scared, sweetheart,” she whispered. “But remember, the doctor is here to help you stay healthy and strong.” I cried, trying to take in her words, but the fear was still there. The doctor told me that after the injection, I would get to pick my favorite lollipop. With Mummy’s comforting hand on my back, I took a deep breath and nodded, ready to face the injection with bravery. The nurse who gave me the shot told me I was very brave.
On the way home, I held Mummy’s hand, with a red lollipop in hand. The red lollipop was as sweet as I had imagined. The memory of the injection still lingered, but the pride in Mummy’s eyes and the rewards in my hand made it all worth it. As we walked, I felt a sense of accomplishment. I had faced my fear and come out stronger. Mummy asked me about my day, and I told her all about the big goldfish and the fish tank, and how I had been brave during the injection. The sun was still shining, and the world seemed a little brighter.
