Book 2 Unit 1 Food for Thought

Arrive on time / punctually to show your respect for the host.
Besides, we have meals with chopsticks instead of knives and forks, so you’d better learn how to use chopsticks in advance. Keep in mind that don’t point at others with your chopsticks, because it’s a rude way in Chinese mind.
Last but not least, fish is a symbol of good luck in China. Normally we place the dish with fish’s head pointing towards the honorable guest. But don't eat the head and tail of the fish, which symbolize abundance.
Follow my advice and you will realize how hospitable(好客的) the Chinese people are.
I hope these tips could be of help. Remember “ when in Rome, do as the Romans do.” Enjoy your meal.
Part 2 Developing ideas 【
挑食be picky/particular about food
零食snack
定时定量regularly and properly
Dear friends,
As a saying goes,we are what we eat. Therefore it’s very important for us to develop healthy eating habits. However, bad eating habits are still very common among us students. Some of us frequently skip breakfast; some are addicted to snacks; some others are particular about food; and still some eat or drink excessively(adv. All these bad habits will surely do harm to our health.
To keep fit,we should have diverse healthy diets. A balanced one featuring fresh seasonal vegetables is highly recommended. Besides, we’d better have meals regularly and properly.
In my opinion, we should try to form healthy eating habits to build up a strong body, which could contribute to better performance on our study. That’s all. Thank you!

Thank you for your trust. As for me, I will definitely recommend Sichuan hot pot to you.
Hot pot enjoys the greatest popularity in China. Families and friends often gather around a big hot pot, eating and chatting cheerfully. Because everyone is free to choose their favorite food, hot pot has become a representative of Chinese values of openness, equality and sharing. That is why I strongly recommend it to you.

Hearing you meet some difficulty when planning to hold an activity called Into Chinese Traditional Cuisine, I’m writing to recommend Zongzi to you.
Zongzi is a food unique to the Dragon-boat Festival, with a variety of fillings(馅料)wrapped in reed leaves. It enjoys great popularity for its special flavor and diverse fillings, such as meat, peanut, egg yolk, which cater to people’s different needs. Most importantly, people eat Zongzi in memory of Qu Yuan, a great ancient Chinese poet.
To hold the activity successfully, it is advisable(明智的,可取的) to engage/involve all your classmates in making it. I believe every one of you will enjoy the process! Hope my suggestion will be helpful and wish you a success in your activity.
Yours,
Li Hua
