happiness
2 What can you learn from them
Once upon a time, there was a king named Midas. He was very greedy and loved gold more than anything else. One day, a god granted him a wish. Midas wished that everything he touched would turn into gold. At first, he was overjoyed. He touched his furniture, his clothes, and they all became gold. But when he tried to eat, his food turned into gold as soon as he touched it. When he hugged his daughter, she also turned into a golden statue. At that moment, he realized that his so - called “gift” had brought him great unhappiness. He begged the god to take away his power, and he learned that true happiness doesn't come from material wealth but from the people and simple pleasures around us.
The Story of King Midas and the Gold
The Happy Prince was a beautiful, gold - covered statue in a city. He could see the poverty and suffering of the people. A little swallow stopped to rest at his feet. The prince asked the swallow to take the gold and jewels from his body and give them to the poor. As the swallow did so, the prince became less and less magnificent. In the end, both the prince and the swallow died. But their selfless and kind acts left a deep impression. They found true happiness in helping others and sacrificing for them, showing that true happiness comes from giving and caring.
The Happy Prince
There was a kind fisherman who caught a magic fish and let it go. His wife, however, was very greedy. She first asked the fish for a nice house through the fisherman. Then her demands grew - she wanted to be a queen and then like God. The fish granted her wishes at first but finally, because of her extreme greed, took everything away and the couple was back to their poor life in the old hut. This shows that greed doesn't lead to happiness and we should be content.
