课前预测:The students have learnt some words about places before,and the topic in this lesson is concerned to their real life. So they’ll be more interested in it,as well as the perfect arrangement of teaching steps,It’s not too difficult to achieve the aims.

1. Learn how to read maps , ask for and give directions in English to help others in their real life.
2.Cultivate their ability of creation.

3.How to ask for and give directions in their life will be the difficulties.
教学准备:
1. PPT/Cards of places/self-contained videotape.
2. Two pieces of videos that acted by some students.
教学过程:
Step 1. Warming up: (3 minutes)
1.A small discussion: What public places are there in the city? Ask the students to say them quickly in class.
2.Show some pictures of places they have learnt.According to the tips, ask them what places they are. Then introduce new places smoothly such as: bank/ museum/ stadium/ bookshop. At the same time, pay attention to the differences between bookshop and bookstore.
step2.Brain storming: Who is the fastest?(1 minutes)
It’s a good way to consolidate all the words in step 1. The students are asked to recognise the correct places loudly and quickly. Meanwhile, the activity of them is improved.
step3.Dubbing voice: to practise asking the way (2 minutes)
Boys: Excuse me, is there a WC near here?
Girls: Sorry, I don’t know.
Boys: Excuse me, How can I get to WC?
Girls: Sorry, I’m new here.
Boys: Excuse me, Where is WC?
Girls: Sorry, I don’t know either, you can ask others.
Boys: Oh my god, I can’t wait to...
Dub it in 2 groups while the teacher click it. So it can help them learn about how to ask the way. It can also help the students know how important to give directions for others. At the same time, introduce the next topic naturally: How to give directions?
step4.A small game: Turn left/ right. (1 minutes)
Showing different arrows to revise: left/right and learn:turn left/ right.Then all the students stand up, do as the teacher says quickly: Turn left/ right.
Teach them how to give directions for others according to the maps.(2 minutes)
Sum up more phrases about positions, read them together.(1 minute)
step5. Relationships of position: (2 minutes)
Ask some of them say their positions in the classroom.
Step6.Listening: (5 minutes)
listen to the tape in Part 3 without opening their books, ask them : Where is the tourist going? After checking the answer,they can open their books. Show other questions one by one,listen again and read their answers loud when they find it.The teacher can pause the tape for each question. After showing all the correct answers, they should read the answers togther.
Step7.Cartoon:(1 minutes)
Play the videotape in Part3 that matches the English teaching material and watch it together.
Step8.Listen and read:(5 minutes)
Open their books, the teacher play and pause the buttons for them listening and repeating after the tape together,then read it freely for a second time. Next, work in pairs.
Step9.Inclusion:(3 minutes)
Try to find key phrases and sentences in Part 3 by themselves. If necessary, the teacher may give them some help. By showing flash cards to sum up all the keys about asking the way and giving directions, read them together.
step10.Creation: (12 minutes)
Show a map that has named each place. Read it and show them 2 pieces of videos that acted by some students as models. Then ask several pairs of them to act dialogues in class after preparing for a few minutes . They may start at any point. Encouragement should be given. (6 minutes)
Step 11.Finish Part 4 on their own, check answers.
Step12.Additional exercises:(5 minutes)
Do some additional exercises in class to consolidate what they have learnt in this lesson.
Step13. Homework
1.Let them imagine the changes of their hometown in 20 years. Draw a map on their own and make up dialogues in their exercise books after class.
2.They can also write an email to their best friend to tell them the way to their home.
They can choose one of them above as their homework .the teacher should encourage them to go online to search for some videos about asking the way and watch them.
