教学目标 Knowledge Objectives: be able to identify and name four famous places in Xi’an: the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower, and the Terra Cotta Warriors. Students will understand and use the future tense with “will” to talk about planned activities. Skill Objectives: Develop reading and speaking skills through text comprehension and dialogues. Enhance writing skills by completing sentences with correct verb forms. Emotional Objectives: Foster interest in learning about Chinese culture and heritage. Encourage collaboration and participation during group activities.
重点 Mastering the future tense with “will.” Identifying and describing places of interest in Xi’an.
难点 1. Using the correct verb forms in different contexts. 2. Building confidence in speaking English in full sentences.
教学过程 Step 1: Warm up Greet the class and ask: “Where can you see these places of interest Look and talk.” Show pictures of the four places of interest and ask students to guess their names. Encourage them to share simple sentences or key words they know. (Purpose: Activate prior knowledge and build interest.) Step 2: Reading Lead in the teacher creates a situation where students could choose a place to travel. Then a guide recommends a trip plan for students.Teacher plays plan for students. Fast reading Students read the passage and number the places of interest. Careful reading Analyze the structure of the passage and then finish the timeline. (Purpose: Enhance reading comprehension and learn the writing methods of trip plan from the passage.) Post reading First, find the colored sentences together with students. Then, fill in the blanks. Activity 1 Explain “Will”: Show the structure on the screen. Subject + will + verb (base form) (Purpose: Reading familiar sentences from the passage and finding out their common points can help students quickly organize their thoughts. ) Activity 2 By presenting example sentences on the PPT, summarize the affirmative form, negative form, general interrogative form, affirmative answers and negative answers of the simple future tense, as well as the marker words of the simple future tense. Affirmative form: Subject+will+verb Negative form: Subject+will not/won’t +verb General interrogative form: Will+Subject +verb+... Affirmative answers: Yes, Subject + will. Negative answers: No, Subject + will not/ won’t. Activity 3 Students finish exercises which are related to the simple future tense. Step 3: Pair work Create a situation for students and practice the simple future tense. (Purpose: Enhance speaking skills and boost confidence in using English in real-life contexts.) Step 4 Language points Step 4 Exercises Finish the exercises on PPT. Step 5 Homework Basic Homework Find the English descriptions of scenic spots in Xi'an in the text, organize them in your notebook, and complete the relevant exercises. Find the descriptions of time related to the travel arrangements in Xi'an in the text, and organize them in your notebook. Practical Homework Suppose you are an international tour guide in Xi'an. Write an English tour guide speech of about 60 words to introduce the tourist attractions in Xi'an to foreign tourists. You can start with "Dear tourists, welcome to Xi’an, a city full of history and culture! Here, you will be amazed by the countless historical sites. Now, let me show you around." The language is required to be vivid and fully demonstrate the charm of Xi'an. Extended Homework Watch an English documentary about Xi'an (such as "Xi'an: The Ancient City with New Rhymes", which can be searched online), and write an English movie review of about 60 words. Record the expressions about Xi'an that impressed you the most. Pay attention to grammar and spelling.
