once described as the world's rarest cat, the Iberian lynx, has seen its numbers increase thanks to conservation efforts. The news is so good that the International Union for Conservation of Nature(IUCN)has changed the status of the Iberian lynx from “endangered” to “vulnerable:
The Iberian lynx is a medium-sized cat with tufts(簇) of hair on the tips of its ears and a “beard” around its face. By 2001, it was critically endangered with just 62 adult cats recorded in the wild. The fall was due to habitat loss as well as coaching(偷猎) and road accidents. Now there are more than 2, 000 living in the wild. When lynx numbers dropped in 2001, conservationists knew that urgent action was needed. These efforts included boosting the numbers of rabbits(lynxes' favourite food), freeing hundreds of captive lynxes and restoring the wild cats' habitat. While this work is impressive, Ortiz said more needs to be done. “Looking ahead, there are plans to reintroduce the Iberian lynx to new sits in central and northern Spain,” he told the BBC.
Craig Hilton-Taylor, from the IUCN, believes that the Iberian lynx could be fully recovered in 100 years if conservation carries on. However, climate change is a worrying factor. Hilton-Taylor said, “We don't know what climate change is going to do – we've seen an increase in fires in the Mediterranean area, so how that's going to impact on the lynx is yet to be determined.”
More than two-fifths of cat species across the world are endangered, including the Amur leopard from Russia and China, the Iriomote cat from the remote Japanese island of Iriomote, and the Sum at ran tiger from the Indonesian island of Sumatra. It is hoped that lessons learned from bringing the Iberian lynx back from the brink will help to save other species that are at risk all around the world.
28. Why did IUCN change the status of the Iberian lynx from “endangered” to “vulnerable”
A. Because the Iberian lynx is no longer facing any threats.
B. Because the Iberian lynx population has decreased further.
C. Because the habitat of the Iberian lynx has been completely restored.
D. Because conservation efforts have led to an increase in the Iberian lynx population.
29. How does crag Hilton-Taylor feel about the future recovery of the Iberian lynx
A. Hopeful. B. Neutral C. Pessimistic. D. Subjective.
30. What measures have NOT been taken to rescue the Iberian Iynx
A. Restoring the habitat of the Iberian lynx. B. Bringing the Iberian lynx to the new sits.
C. Boosting the numbers of rabbits in the wild. D. Freeing quantities of captive lynxes into the wild.
31. Which of the following would be the best title of the passage
A. Threats facing all cat species. B. The history of the Iberian lynx.
C. Big cat bounces back from edge of extinction. D. The effects of climate change on the Iberian lynx.

Since the industrial revolution, there have been concerns that new machines would replace human jobs. Today, this fear is becoming a reality as robots and artificial intelligence (AI)are advancing into various job sectors.
According to a March 2023 Gold man sacks report, AI could do a quarter of all the work currently done by humans. In the EU and US alone, 300 million jobs might be at risk due to automation. Author Martin Ford warns that this shift could be systematic, affecting many people in the meantime with potential widespread economic applications.
However, not all hope is lost. There remain areas where human qualities, such as emotional intelligence and creative thinking, are indispensable. Jobs in three categories are likely to be more secure against AI:
1. Truly creative role, especially those in science, medicine, law, and business strategy. While some creative fields like graphic design may be vulnerable to ad, others that involve coming up with novel ideas will still need humans.
2. Positions requiring complicated interpersonal skills, including nursing, consulting, and investigative journalism. These jobs demand a deep understanding of human relationships, which AI cannot easily copy.
3. occupations needing mobility, proficiency, and problem-solving skill in unpredictable environments, such as trade jobs. Electricians, plumbers, and welders(焊工) face situations that constantly change, making these roles challenging for automation.
Ford emphasized that neither advanced education nor high-income positions guarantee safety from ad. White-collar workers, who often write reports or analyze data, may find their jobs more threatened by AI than less educated workers in physically demanding roles, like cleaning hotel rooms, which are harder to automate.
In conclusion, seeking employment in dynamic environments that involve unpredictable tasks can help safeguard against job loss to AI, at least for now. For students preparing for their future careers, it's wise to consider fields that emphasize creativity, human interaction, and adaptability in complex settings.
32. What can we learn from the report in paragraphs
A. A significant number of jobs may be affected by AI.
B. Automation will create more jobs than it re moves.
C. The effect of ad on employment will be mild.
D. only low-skill jobs will be replaced by artificial intelligence.
33. Which of the following jobs is considered more secure against AI replacement
A. Graphic design. B. Data analysis.
C. Report writing. D. Investigative journalism.
34. What does Martin Ford stress about the impact of ad on employment
A. It will not affect the high-paying jobs.
B. It could primarily replace uneducated workers.
C. It could pose a less threat to the physically demanding jobs.
D. It will probably not influence white-collar jobs.
35. What suggestion does the passage provide for the students regarding the future career
A. To focus on careers that require routine and predictable tasks.
B. To seek employment only within dynamic and rapidly changing industries.
C. To consider occupations that highlight innovation, communication and adaptability.
D. To avoid any jobs that could potentially be affected by automation.

As Mom and I stood in line waiting to cash out at the retail store, I studied the customer in
front of us who was reading the magazines to our left. She was young, maybe early twenties,
but she already had a stoop(驼背), looking very tired.
The items in her cart included the cheapest cuts of meat and meal materials like pasta, rice, and potatoes. Day-old bread, bargain soap, and inexpensive shampoo(洗发剂) completed her purchased --- well, almost. In the corner sat a little doll and a pretty dress that was 50 percent off, She continued to look at the magazines as we waited, and more people lined up behind us. She turned around and asked Mom for help.
“I'm sorry to bother you,” she began shyly. “But can you tell me how much this is I forgot my glasses at home.” “Of course,” Mom said. When Mom finally found the small print and told her, she sighed quietly and put it back.
“Next!” The cashier called and she moved forward to begin her trade. When the store employee finally figured everything out and told her the cost, the woman's face paled. It was obvious that she didn't have enough money, and she scanned her groceries to see what she could do without. One by one, she removed things, but it was still not enough. She continued to take much-needed goods out while the cashier patiently deducted(扣除)things.
The child's items remained in the cart, however. In fact, the palm of her other hand lay protectively across them, as if she didn't want to be tempted to abandon them. The woman finally paid and moved down to bag them.
When our turn came, Mom pointed to the pile of items the woman had taken out, added all our meat and fresh milk, and whispered “Separate bags, same bill please” to the cashier. She nodded, even though it was a “pack your own” kind of store.
注意:(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答.
The cashier went on with her work, and Mom and I picked up all the items. _________________________

For our adult ceremony activities I have prepared a present--- a book titled The Alchemist(牧羊少年奇幻之旅).
The Alchemist is a fable that tells the story of a poor boy who dreams of finding treasures. He goes on a journey across the world, encountering countless challenges and obstacles, but never gives up on his dream. I choose to give this book as a gift because I believe it holds a profound message for every one of us. As we turn 18, we are faced with decisions that will shape our future. This book will inspire us to pursue our dreams fearlessly and teach us the value of perseverance and the power of love.
May the gift remind us to dream big, to take risks, and to always believe in ourselves.

understood what my mother meant. But we couldn’t find the young woman anywhere when looking around. We hurried up to catch up with her, asking her to wait a moment.
Paragraph 2:
The woman turned and looked at my mom in surprise. “What's wrong ” she asked confusedly. Then Mom came up to pat her on the shoulder, saying “You've left these things behind. Here you are. ” Hands trembling, she received the gifts. Without waiting for her to say thanks, we left. M: Talking about personal relationships, I am going to talk about my sister. My sister and I are very close. She is three years older than me. In fact, she just turned 30 this year. I believe the relationship you have with your brother or sister is unique. You are brought up in the same way, and you spend most time together when growing up. ⑧In my experience, my sister has always been there for me. She will always offer me advice even if I am traveling and we are in different parts of the world. Unlike your job or friends, you never get to choose your family, but you do get to choose the relationships you want with them. That is why I always try to resolve any problems with my sister or my parents immediately. These are the most important people in my life and it is never healthy to have anger toward them. ②I would like you to think about your family members and tell me your stories. Who would like to go first Raise your hand.
