“Our garage is a disaster!” Mom declared. "We need to bag up everything we're not using. If it's in good condition, we can donate it to people who can really use it." As usual, our family would donate stuff to our community center every year.
“This year, you're old enough to decide for yourselves now! You two can have the whole afternoon to go through what's here," said Mom. "Please donate only the things that kids in our community really use or truly need. Happy sorting!"
But happy was not the word I'd choose to describe our sorting. After Mom left, we both just stood there, staring at the boxes of old stuff for a long time.
Then my eyes fixed on a set of colorful Lego blocks. "No way. I don't want to say goodbye to my blocks! Why don't we give away your skipping rope ” Tex yelled loudly.
I shook my head firmly.
And that's how it went for the next hour. Each decision felt so complicated that it was much easier to put nearly everything back to its position.
“Look!” Tex pointed. “A cool old toy car with only one wheel. Hard to fix. It's the best choice for us to donate the broken ones like this.”
How clever he was! After all, neither of us was willing to part with our beloved possessions forever. We'd rather have them lie abandoned or unnoticed in our garage. We took immediate action and put all the broken toys, and board games with missing pieces in the donation pile. Now, sorting stuff out in this way did make us much happier. At this moment, Mom came back to see how it was going.

伏笔:“This year, you're old enough to decide for yourselves now!”
伏笔:“Each decision felt so complicated that it was much easier to put nearly everything back to its position.”
伏笔:“We'd rather have them lie abandoned or unnoticed in our garage.”
伏笔:“Please donate only the things that kids in our community really use or truly need.”
——参考词汇有:mom;Tex;in good condition;stuff
Tex;colorful Lego blacks;bag up;staring at boxes;kids in our community

Giving is not just about parting with possessions; it's about sharing love and bringing joy to others.
True happiness lies not in hoarding, but in the act of selfless giving.
Through the process of donation, we learn the value of empathy and the power of helping those in need.
By letting go of our attachments, we open the door to a greater sense of fulfillment and connection with others.
Donating is not only a way to declutter our space, but also a chance to enrich the lives of others and our own souls.
“Why do you put so much useless stuff in the donation pile ” Mom pulled a long face. “Kids in our community need things that can actually bring them joy and help them. Broken toys won't do that. Think about how excited you'd be if you received something you could really use.” Her words hit home, and I felt a pang of guilt. I realized we had been so focused on keeping our own things that we ignored the purpose of donation.
Mom was right and I put my favourite skipping rope into the donation pile first. Tex, after a moment of hesitation, added his Lego blocks. We then went through the boxes again, carefully choosing books, games, and toys that were in good condition. When we dropped off the donations at the community center and saw the bright smiles on the kids' faces, we knew we had made the right choice. It was a valuable lesson in the joy of giving.
示范二
“Why do you put so much useless stuff in the donation pile ” Mom pulled a long face. She picked up the broken toy car and said, “This won't help anyone. The point of donating is to make a positive impact on others' lives. We should give things that can bring hope and happiness.” Her serious tone made us realize our mistake. We had been thinking only of ourselves.
Mom was right and I put my favourite skipping rope into the donation pile first. Tex followed suit, putting his cherished comic books. We spent the next hour sorting through the items, selecting those that were still in good condition. As we handed over the donations, we felt a sense of pride and fulfillment. We learned that giving is not a loss, but a gain, as it fills our hearts with warmth and happiness.
“Why do you put so much useless stuff in the donation pile ” Mom pulled a long face. Hearing these words, Tex and I didn’t know how to respond, lowering our heads and trying to avoid direct visual contact with her. After a few seconds of silence, Mom got close to us and made us exchange the situation, then asking us “If the donated stuff sent to you was not in good condition, how would you feel ” At that moment, we both nodded.(3句65)
Mom was right and I put my favourite skipping rope into the donation pile first. Seeing my action, Tex also put his colorful Lego blacks into the pile. Then we continued searching and bagging up things we didn’t need anymore. Shortly afterwards, staring at several boxes full of our past good memories, I could picture how much pleasure they would bring to the kids in our community. From then on, I changed from a selfish teenager to a responsible citizen.
