The Guizhou golden monkey is one of the world’s most endangered kinds of monkeys,according to UNESCO.
These monkeys only live in the Fanjingshan National Nature Reserve. There, people are looking closely at these monkeys and the different kinds of plants in places where they live. This way, they learn more about the monkeys and how to help them.

For years, Li Haibo, a scientist on animal protection, and his team help these monkeys have babies. From 2018 to 2022, three monkey babies were born with the help of their team. “We used to wait for three years for a baby monkey, but now it only takes two years,” said Li.
Also, Guizhou Province started building ecological corridors ( 生 态 走 廊 ) this year to protect the home of these monkeys. That means our country is planting more trees that the monkeys like to eat from and live in.
Because of this work, the number of the Guizhou golden monkeys has grown to between 700 and 800, according to the Fanjingshan National Nature Reserve Administration.
