This 32 is not just a lesson in survival but also a reminder of the importance of patience and persistence.

For instance, instead of viewing economic development and environmental conservation as opposing forces, we can strive for a balance where one complements the other. This requires a 37 approach to problem-solving, where we consider all aspects before making decisions.
Nature has a way of highlighting what is truly important, like the 38 of simplicity and the beauty of diversity. In a world that often celebrates excess, nature reminds us that sometimes less is more. By recognizing and valuing these qualities, we can achieve a better harmony with the natural world.

At the turn of the century, there was a lot of talk about whether globalization as a good thing or a bad thing. One side argued that it allowed big, multi-national corporations to 41 workers in poor countries for more profits. The other side objected that the 42 of these corporations into the developing world offered the best hope for raising living standards. One side 43 . Directions: Read the following passages. Each passage is followed by several questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A, B,C and D. Choose the one that fits best according to the information given in the passage you have just read.
(A)
You feel happiest when you create a healthy balance between giving and receiving. If you give and give without making time to fill your own needs, then it's likely you will burn out, or feel upset. When you take and take without giving anything back, you never feel fulfilled, so you are always searching for ways to fill the void in your life.
The way to create a healthy bulance between giving and receiving is to know and then live by your values. I break values up into two groups which I call being and having values. Your being values are the character traits of the ideal person you would like to be. I suggest to my clients(客户)that they choose three being values that they are willing to make a commitment to live by. An example of some being values are: kind, loving, generous, inspirational, peaceful, wise and even powerful. By acting on these values you give to others through your actions and you inspire others by being a positive role model. Mastering these character traits becomes your life purpose.
Your having values are the feelings you need to create in order to be happy. These could be companionship, achievement, support, being valued or financial security. This is what you receive. You take responsibility for filling your own needs by taking steps to create these feelings and conditions in your life.
When you make a commitment to live by your being values, it becomes easier to make conscious choices rather than reactionary ones. If your usual pattern is to talk about your problems, you could choose to think and act like a calm person. A calm person might go for a walk, meditate(冥想), or set a time limit before responding. If your usual pattern is to worry, you could choose to act like a responsible or wise person. In other words, you would act like the person you choose to be--this is the key to personal power.
When you choose to act on your values, you not only feel good about yourself, you reinforce(强化) your chosen beliefs. Over time acting in this way changes how you see the world, and in turn the way other people think of you.
56. The main purpose of this passage is to ______
A. persuade the readers to make a commitment
B. explain to the readers what personal values are
C. inform the readers how to be truly happy
D. instruct the readers how to make wise choices
66. According to the passage, living by your being values, you would______
A. gain a lot of power B.form positive personality
C. seek all human virtues D. fill your own needs
67.The underlined word "void"in Paragraph 1 means______
A. a feeling of emptiness B. an absence of one's mind
C. a break of continuity D. a state of confusion
68. What can be inferred from the passage
A. Having values are better than being values
B. A calm person does not choose to complain.
C. The way other people think of you decides who you are.
D. A responsible person does not care about financial security

Here are the top summer vacation lodges in the nation!
Out of Lake Wobegon; Fair Hills Resort
With sandcastle contests, Swedish buffet night, and family bingo, this classic northern Minnesota lodge is right out of Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon. Families can choose from a collection of activities suitable for both adults and kids--volleyball, tennis, sailing, swimming-laze by the lake, or rehearse for their star turn at the weekly talent show. The family-run resort is proud of its myriad "lifers,"guests who've been vacationing here since they were kids. This year, ten of them will celebrate their 50th yearly visit.
Northern California, Unplugged; Gray Eagle Lodge
Once they find Gray Eagle Lodge off a two-lane road, most guests have no use for their cars. Days here are spent on foot, hiking to alpine lakes in the Sierras or going for a dip in the swimming hole fed by a 15-foot waterfall. "There are no officially planned activities," explains Tracy Morris, who has taken her children here for years, "unless you count the get-togethers specifically arranged for kids who have never met before but have become fast friends and enjoy fun together."
Authentic Adirondacks; The Hedges
For recent years improvements have been made--including upgrading the plumbing to accommodate more guests, answering to the main complaints in the past about its poor capacity. The current owners have restored the camp to its original Adirondack-style glory. Though tasteless to the younger age groups, the style earned the lodge a spot on the National Register of Historic Places.
Great Lake Lodge; The Inn at Watervale
Built as a boarding school in 1892, this lodge became a summer retreat in 1917. Today, the owner of the lodge proudly promotes the resort's lack of TV, Wi-Fi, and decent cell phone coverage, which makes it perfect for recluses(隐士). Instead of sticking with their smartphones, parents and children both find their relationships greatly improved through hiking the 300-foot-high Old Baldy dune, combing the beach for fossils, and savoring the sunsets over the lake together.
60. Which lodge is not very attractive for kids
A. Fair Hills Resort B. Gray Eagle Lodge
C. The Hedges D. The Inn at Watervale
61. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage

There's a new frontier(新领域) in 3D printing that's beginning to come into focus: food. Recent development has made possible machines that print, cook, and serve foods on a mass scale. And the industry isn't stopping there.
Food production
With a 3D printer, a cook can print complicated chocolate sculptures and beautiful pieces for decoration on a wedding cake. Not everybody can do that--it takes years of experience, but a printer makes it easy. A restaurant in Spain uses a Foodini to "re-create forms and pieces"of food that are "exactly the same", freeing cooks to complete other tasks. In another restaurant, all of the dishes and desserts it serves are 3D-printed, rather than farm to table.
Sustainability
The global population is expected to grow to 9.6 billion by 2050, and some analysts estimate
that food production will need to be raised by 50 percent to maintain current levels. Sustainability is becoming a necessity. 3D food printing could probably contribute to the solution. Some experts believe printers could use hydrocolloids(水解胶体) from plentiful renewables like algae(藻类) and grass to replace the familiar ingredients. 3D printing can reduce fuel use and emissions.Grocery stores of the future might stock "food" that lasts years on end, freeing up shelf space and reducing transportation and storage requirements.
Nutrition
Future 3D food printers could make processed food healthier. Hod Lipson, a professor at Columbia University, said,"Food printing could allow consumers to print food with customised mutritional content, like vitamins. So instead of eating a piece of yesterday's bread from the supermarket, you'd eat something baked just for you on demand."
Challenges
Despite recent advancements in 3D food printing, the industry has many challenges to overcome. Currently, most ingredients must be changed to a paste before a printer can use them, and the printing process is quite time-consuming, because ingredients interact with each other in very complex ways. On top of that, most of the 3D food printers now are restricted to dry ingredients, because meat and milk products may easily go bad. Some experts are skeptical about 3D food printers, believing they are better suited for fast food restaurants than homes and high-end restaurants.
63. What benefit does 3D printing bring to food production
A. It helps cooks to create new dishes.
B. It saves time and effort in cooking.
C. It improves the cooking conditions.
D. It contributes to restaurant decorations.
6 64. According to Paragraph 4, 3D-printed food______
A. is more available to consumers
B. can meet individual nutritional needs
C. is more tasty than food in supermarkets
D. can keep all the nutrition in raw materials
65. What is the main factor that prevents 3D food printing from spreading widely
A. The printing process is complicated.
B. 3D food printers are too expensive.
C. Food materials have to be dry.
D. Some experts doubt 3D food printing.
66. Which could be the best title of the passage
A. 3D Food Printing: Delicious New Technology
B.A New Way to Improve 3D Food Printing
C. The Challenges for 3D Food Production
D. 3D Food Printing: From Farm to Table

Help the exhausted and stressed teachers
Teaching should not be one of the most stressful jobs in the US. But it is."The only other profession that comes close to us for stress is nursing and we still have the numbers... by a lot 67 ”
"Nobody realizes how horrific working conditions are for teachers throughout the country," Brice-Hyde says, an experienced teacher in New York who is part of the national group Badass Teachers Association(BAT).
68 So they did a national study of teacher working conditions around issues like stress, work-life balance, respect, and more. The results are both surprising and not. If you've been seeing the stories about teacher walkouts and pay inequality, you probably aren't all that shocked to see these things like: 61 percent of educators find work "always" or “often" stressful; 27 percent of educators said they've been threatened or bullied; 86 percent of educators feel disrespected by US Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos.
Teachers are stressed out, and turnover is high. No wonder we're seeing more stories about the importance of self-care, classroom burnout, and mental health days for teachers. Yet, self-care doesn't seem to come easily for people, and this is definitely true for teachers. 69
We think it's time to change that, though. So in honor of World Mental Health Day, we are working to change the dialogue about teacher mental health. Below are some of the top challenges people give for not seeking therapy, or even basic self-care, along with possible solutions and workarounds for each one.
We hope you share this article widely, giving support and love to your fellow educators. 70 And it's pretty much guaranteed to help you do what you set out to in the first place--be a good teacher
IV. 71. Summary
Directlons: Read the passage and write a summary within 60 words.
Most episodes of absent-mindedness--forgeting where you left something or wondering why you just entered a room--are caused by a simple lack of attention, says Schacter."You're supposed to remember something, but you haven't encoded it deeply."
Encoding, Schacter explains, is a special way of paying attention to an event that has a major impact on recalling it later. Failure to encode properly can create an annoying situation. If you put your mobile phone in a pocket, for example, and don't pay attention to what you did because you're involved in a conversation, you'll probably forget that the phone is in the jacket now hunging in your wardrobe(衣柜)."Your memory itself isn't failing you," says Schacter. "Rather, you didn't give your memory system the information it needed."
Lack of interest can also lead to absent-mindedness."A man who recites sports statistics from 30 years ago,"says Zelinski,"may not remember to drop a letter in the mailbox."Women have slightly better memory than men, possibly because they are more interested in what's happening around them, and memory relies on just that.
Visual cues(提示)can help prevent absent-mindedness, says Schacter. "But be sure the cue is clear and available,"he cautions. If you want to remember to take a medication with lunch, put the pill bottle on the kitchen table--don't leave it in the medicine chest and write yourself a note that you keep in a pocket.
Another common episode of absent-mindedness: walking into a room and wondering why you're there. Most likely, you were thinking about something else. "Everyone does this from time to time,"says Zelinski. The best thing to do is to return to where you were before entering the room, and you'll likely remember.
