阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
Recently Oxford Dictionaries released this year’s list of new words that due to popular use had made their way into the dictionary; proof of their widespread existence.
Thinglish
Kids in 2025 find whole sentences difficult, so have done away with verbs and adjectives completely to communicate using just nouns —via social media platforms. Most parents do point out that teenagers have in fact been communicating in single words for decades, so this doesn’t really feel too different.
Dronership
The informal “finders keepers” law that means if a drone (无人机) crash lands in your backyard, then it’s yours. Intended to be a response to wayward (任性的) and careless drone operators, governments have refused to make the law official, as they are concerned it will encourage residents to actively try and bring down drones by any means possible.
Spuddite
A person who refuses to learn how to use a potato for lighting. Also known as “starch-enemies”, these individuals are often manufacturers (制造商) of light bulbs, who have seen their market share decrease sharply ever since it was found that potatoes could be used to light homes, offices and even streets. With a potato using 733% less energy than an energy saving bulb, it’s not hard to see why they’d be that frustrated…
21.What might be the main reason behind the appearance of Thinglish
A.The ease of language use. B.The long-standing habit.
C.The decline in vocabulary. D.The overuse of social media.
22.Who might be called “starch enemies”
A.Potato farmers. B.Crashed drone keepers.
C.Light bulb producers. D.Single-word communicators.
23.Why are these words included in dictionaries
A.Because of cultural influence. B.Because of their uniqueness.
C.Because of language evolution. D.Because of their widespread usage.

When I first joined Facebook, I saw it as a cool way to keep in touch with my friends and family. In the early days, I had largely pos tive views and feelings when I went on the app. But over time, things changed for the worse. Bes des getting bored of the app, other big problems came up.
Firstly, Facebook weakened my creat vity. Because I was spending so much time on Facebook, I wasn’t doing anywhere near as much as I could have been with my big creative dreams and ideas. And even when I did, it was in service of social media (for example, I took photos that would get likes from my Facebook friends instead of what I actually wanted to capture).
Facebook also made me feel intense FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), especially when I saw how everyone else was doing. For example, I quit my job and started my first business at a time when my friends were getting job promotions. While I knew that leaving my job was the right long-term decision, I was also broke at the bine that with others getting pay rises, etc., and you can see the problem here.
I also felt like I had to post whenever I did anything interesting. For example. if I was traveling, I had to tell my friends where I was going. Since deleting Facebook, I’m much happier not feeling like I need to share all of my life. This is one of the biggest mistakes you could make on Facebook.
Deleting my Facebook account was a huge decision, but I can say with certainty that it was one of my best long-term decisions. I have better relationships with the people who matter, and I’m no longer exposed to anywhere near as much negativity as I was. Not oversharing my personal life is also a huge advantage. I suggest deleting your account for three months and seeing how you feel thereafter; if you enjoy your life offline, don’t hesitate to permanently delete it.
24.Why did the author start to use Facebook
A.To strengthen bonds. B.To share updates. C.To inspire creativity. D.To get latest news.
25.What made the author feel FOMO
A.Starting the first business. B.Noticing the gap with friends.
C.Struggling to make a living. D.Losing track of former friends.
26.What does the underlined word “This” refer to in paragraph 4
A.Sharing all the life. B.Posting something interesting.
C.Deleting Facebook. D.Telling friends travel destinations.
27.What’s the purpose of the text
A.To discuss social media’s advance. B.To list negative effects of Facebook.
C.To recommend a social media detox. D.To urge immediate removal of Facebook.

Last year, the word to describe much of the rise in food prices would have been “heatflation”, as drought and high temperatures affected crop yields (生产量) around the world, from olive oil in Spain to cabbage in South Korea.
This year, we’re facing a different concept. Let’s call it “sogflation.” If heatflation refers to price increases as a result of extremely high temperatures, sogflation is born out of extreme precipitation.
A report published in April showed that while Europe experienced the highest number of days with extreme heat stress, it was also one of the wettest periods on record for many places.
Potatoes are at the forefront of sogflation. With just one planting and one harvest per year. the conditions have to be just right. But last autumn poor weather conditions forced harvesting to stop in Europe after just three weeks, as wet soil meant farmers couldn’t get crops out of the ground.
Europeans eat among the highest quantity of potatoes per person of any region in the world —about 90 kilograms on average a year. English white potato prices are up 81% year-over-year, an all-time high. In Europe, the Netherlands and Belgium —two key regions that grow processing potatoes for fries —were the worst affected, with Dutch processing potato prices at their highest level recorded for US $397 per metric ton.
It’s not just vegetables and grains affected by the wet weather. Livestock (家畜) farmers have seen high death rates in lambs, while dairy cows in affected areas are unable to be turned out on grass reducing milk yields and raising production costs. Food production has always been at the mercy of the elements. But Harry Campbell, a market analyst, said that, as consecutive (连续的) years of bad weather pile up, it’s increasingly hard to recover from a poor season.
Supply chains will need to be more flexible. and ultimately more complex, to keep food supplies secure at a time when one supplier could be facing floods and another a serious drought.
28.What led to “sogflation”
A.Intense heat. B.Serious drought. C.Heavy rainfall. D.Severe insect damage.
29.What was the impact of bad weather on potatoes in Europe
A.Increased death rate. B.Delayed new planting.
C.Shorter growth cycle. D.Shorter harvesting period.
30.How will consecutive bad weather influence the food supply
A.It will lead to an increase in the variety of crops.
B.It will force Europe to rely more on food imports.
C.It will require simpler and more flexible supply chains.
D.It will be harder for crops and related industries to recover.
31.What might be a suitable title for the passage
A.From Drought to Flood B.Food Shortage on the Way
C.Saying Goodbye to Cheap Chips D.Extreme Weather and Rising Prices

On a cold evening in 2016, Great Basin slipped out of the shadows and approached what looked like a metal cabinet lying on its side. The raccoon could smell cat food within. but 12 latched (闩住) narrow doors blocked his entry.
So Great Basin jumped on the top and began to fiddle (不停摆弄) with the latches upside down. He quickly opened one of the doors and filled his belly.
Raccoons —renowned for their ability to jimmy their way into locked garbage cans —have long been known for their cleverness. But researchers have little sense of how clever they really are. A study published recently may change that.
From 2016 to 2017, Lauren Stanton, an ecologist who was drawn by raccoons’ quick ability to adapt to environments, and her colleagues placed six puzzle boxes in a residential backyard. Puzzle boxes are standard in cognition and behavior studies, where an animal claws, grabs, or fiddles with a single latched door hiding some food. But the scientists designed a new type of box with 24 food-filled compartments (分隔层) rather than the typical single compartment, giving them more data points to see how raccoons might solve new problems.
Cameras revealed some surprises. In one instance, a raccoon pushes a skunk (臭鼬) out of the way to fiddle with a difficult latch, then easily opens it. In another, some raccoons wait near the puzzle box until another raccoon solves it, pushing it aside and getting the reward without any work. In all, about 25% of the raccoons were able to open at least three doors, although that was not as good as the 65% observed in the lab.
In 2017, Stanton’s team increased the difficulty level, introducing a new puzzle with four different types of locks. Again, 25% of the raccoons were successful, demonstrating flexibility in problem-solving.
The findings could help explain how raccoons thrive in urban settings, solving the many “puzzles” of an urban environment, says Blake Morton, an animal behav orist. “This is wonderful when studies come out like this, because it shows that we can do these studies in the wild, and we should be doing them.”
32.Why did Great Basin make great efforts to fiddle with the latches
A.To have fun. B.To access the food inside.
C.To escape from danger. D.To attract other raccoons.
33.What did Lauren Stanton’s research focus on about raccoons
A.Their interaction patterns. B.Their problem-solving abilities.
C.Their food preferences. D.Their adaptability in the wild.
34.How did Lauren Stanton and her-colleagues test raccoons’ ability to adapt
A.By comparing lab and field findings. B.By observing behaviors via cameras.
C.By employing standard puzzle boxes. D.By presenting increasingly challenging tasks.
35.What does Blake Morton think of Stanton’s studies
A.They hold scientific value and should continue.
B.They need to involve more animal species in the wild.
C.They inspire new ways to deal with raccoons in cities.
D.They offer new insights into human-wildlife coexistence.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
During your teenage years, your body goes through many changes, and you may or may not like how your body develops. You start forming an image of your body. 36
You can develop either a positive or negative body image, depending on your mindset.
One of the major contributors of a negative body image is peer pressure. Even if you do not think you are being bullied by your group of friends, you may be laughed at casually about your appearance or you may simply notice that they seem more “perfect” than you. This can have a negative impact on your body image. 37 Often, an ideal body type is promoted heavily on social networks. Culture may also have a negative impact on one’s body image. If your culture values a particular body image, then that would make you unhappy if you don’t match it.
A negative body image increases the risk of unhealthy behaviors like extreme dieting, overeating, over exercising, isolation, and risky surgeries. It also lowers life satisfaction and can lead to unhappiness. 38
To have a more positive body image, first accept that we are all unique individuals. Imagine if everyone looked the same, the world would be a boring place. 39 Beauty standards keep changing all the time. What’s more, models and celebrities you see in the media may look “perfect” for the era, but, in fact, much of it is due to makeup, angles and lighting and Photoshop!
40 Avoid commenting on others’ looks, and you will stop criticizing yourself too. If you have peers who constantly comment about your appearance, it might be time to re-evaluate the company you keep.
Remember, your body image is simply YOUR perception (感知) of your body. This means YOU have the power to change this, even if you do not have the ability to change the perception of others.
A.Your body image is influenced by many factors.
B.Another major factor is what is shown in the media.
C.It is simply how you see, think and feel about yourself.
D.More importantly, there is no such thing as a perfect body.
E.In general, the key to a positive body image is self-acceptance.
F.Also, instead of focusing on appearances, learn to value people for who they really are.
G.Over focusing on appearance can stop you from appreciating your other positive qualities.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
The Sisters
Lynn sighed as she struggled to remove a spot on her new T-shirt. She was feeling quite annoyed. Her sister, Ava, had completely ruined her nice Saturday morning.
Couldn’t a super-busy teenage girl get some rest from a continuously-working week Okay, maybe Lynn had pushed Ava onto the table, spilling (洒出来) juice all over floor. Maybe her mom had blamed Ava for what happened and didn’t give Ava time to explain. Ava, punished without reason, was in a stormy mood. To take revenge (报复) on Lynn, she “accidentally” spilled a bowl of jelly onto Lynn, ruining Lynn’s new T-shirt. But Lynn was sure Ava got what she deserved. Just last week, Ava had secretly poured sticky glue on Lynn’s seat in class. Lynn couldn’t have been happier to see her sister suffer.
This chain of revenge had been going on between the two girls ever since there had been too much school stress (endless homework, mountainous tests, and many more) in eighth grade. And then their mom was always on her phone and taking business trips, hardly having time to stay with her family.
As Lynn thought about all this, she couldn’t help feeling a bit thoughtful and nostalgic (怀旧的), remembering the time when she and her sister were peaceful, particularly during their childhood game —Conquer the World. It didn’t actually mean to conquer the world; instead, it was their playful challenge to climb a pretty steep and high rock at the back of their house. And when they got to the top, they would have “conquered the world”. The sisters hadn’t actually managed to do that yet. They stopped trying to after a while since it looked a bit stupid for teenagers to climb a rock.
Lynn sighed and gave up trying to clean the jelly on her shirt. Perhaps…it was time to stop having a world war with her sister. She got up and changed into a new shirt.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Paragraph 1: Lynn knocked on her sister’s door.
Paragraph 2: The rock still seemed pretty high and steep for the sisters.
