四川省大邑中学 李泽南
Type of class(课型): Reading and Vocabulary
Time(授课时间): 40 minutes
Lecturer(授课人):Li Ze’nan(李泽南)
About this module(教材分析): The reading material of this module is about “three great philosophers in ancient China, in which their life experiences and their beliefs of life, including their influence, are mainly talked about. The students can not only improve their reading skills and grasp some key words and sentence patterns, but also learn about the three great philosophers’ thoughts by reading the passage and then establish a proper philosophy of life and value, getting ready for their stepping into society in the following days.
About the students(学情分析): The students in class 2, most of whom come from some faraway-countryside schools, still can't do well in their reading for lack of the skills on skimming and scanning. At the same time, they can't express their ideas smoothly because of their limited vocabulary. In fact, they have known a little about the three great philosophers of ancient China through the Internet and other media, but they don’t have a good knowledge of their thoughts.
About the design of this period(教学设计分析):
This period is designed to train students’ ability on skimming and scanning, that is, to make them know more ways to summarize the topic and deal with some key detailed information. At the very beginning, the pictures, contexts, word-map and definitions are made use of to get the students to learn some key words which may affect their reading. In the end, the students are asked to do some further study about the cultural factors in the reading material: First, the relationship between the thoughts of the three philosophers in ancient China and the core socialist values nowadays; Second, the relationship between war and the birth of great people; Third, the lessons we can get from the story of Mencius’s mother’s three house-moving for his better education, thus developing the students' sense of being faced with any difficulty and being active in contributing to and cherishing a good study atmosphere.
