to do some group projects. Why not ask our group members to go and experience it
Early reply and we can reserve one room for our project.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节 读后续写(满分 25 分)
After school, I returned home and dragged to my room. Feeling a stab of guilt
overwhelming me, I threw myself on the bed and buried my face in the pillow, tears
(北京)股份有限公司
of regret rolling down my cheeks. With my friend's words lingering in my mind, I felt
my stomach tightened and knotted badly from the shame. Staring at the my drawing
of the bike, I gradually realized that I needed to fix it and made up my mind to
confess and return the bike. However, not knowing where he lived, I gathered all my
courage and came up to mom to ask for help, telling her everything with uneasiness.
To my surprise, instead of giving me a good scolding, mom just nodded approvingly
and patted me gently on the head.
"I know Tyler's house," Mom said. "I'll drive you there." Carrying the bike and
heading towards his house, so nervous did I feel that my throat tightened and my
palms kept sweating. When we finally arrived, hesitant though I was, I clenched my
fists and knocked at the door. Seeing Tyler coming out with his face lit up by the bike,
I immediately explained in a weak voice and made a sincere apology. Surprisingly,
instead of getting mad at me, he forgave me with a broad smile, hugging me softly
and even offering to lend me his bike. A wave of relief welling up in my heart on the
way home, I came to realize that to live a life of honesty and integrity is a
responsibility of every decent person.
听力录音
Text 1
W: Did you watch the show yesterday afternoon
M: No, I was busy with my report. Did you watch it
W: Yes, I went with my cousin. It was quite good.
Text 2
W: Hi, Albert. I just received a call from Peterson’s company. They want to know if the brochures
are ready.
M: Well, the printing has been delayed because the factory went through a power failure the other
day.
Text 3
W: Excuse me. Where are the checking desks for American Airlines
M: Over there. Desks numbers 47 to 50.
W: Okay, thanks.

Text 4
W: Steve, what would you say is your hometown
M: Um, that’s a difficult question because I’ve traveled around so much. Still, um, Toronto, I
suppose. I’ve lived there for more than twenty years. I wasn’t born there, though.
Text 5
W: Look at all the paper in the waste basket next to the copy machine. That’s really wasteful.
There should be a better way to deal with it.
M: Well, we should try to recycle all our waste paper. That would save money and help the
environment.
Text 6
M: Who was that
W: It was Cindy. She sounded very upset and said that she couldn’t follow the teacher. I knew the
training class was making her upset.
M: Honey, calm down. She’ll be all right.
W: I’m calling her teacher. Give me Miss Gale’s number. Maybe she could help her.
M: Okay, okay, her number is 673-898-98.
Text 7
M: Lucy, I have a conflict in my schedule. I don’t know what to do.
W: Can’t you rearrange your schedule
M: No, the other sections of the courses I need are closed.
W: Then you’ll have to drop a course.
M: I don’t know which one to drop — Math 102, or History 301
W: Well, since you want to major in Computer Science and you need to take Math 102 before
taking several computer science courses like CS 203, it’s important to take Math 102 right
away.
M: You are right, but I do like history and I heard the history teacher is a very good one. I’ll think
about it.
Text 8
W: Hey, you are back from your vacation. Where did you go
M: Maddieville.
W: Where is Maddieville I’ve never heard of it.
(北京)股份有限公司
M: It’s a small town about a six-hour drive from here. There is an old-style main street just like
one in the good old days, you know. It was really amazing. Along the street, there are many
old shops, and the people are very friendly.
W: I’m not sure I’d want to travel back in time. It doesn’t sound very exciting.
M: It was not as lively as some places I had been to, but I enjoyed the old shops, the sincere
people and the true friendliness.
W: What did you do there
M: For an entire week, I visited the shops, ate at the family-owned restaurants, and learned about
the unusual history of the town by chatting with the old-timers at the local bar.
W: But that sounds like a boring place to me.
M: Then I guess you wouldn’t want to go back with me this summer for their music festival.
W: Did you say music festival Maybe I shouldn’t dismiss small-town appeal quite so quickly.
Text 9
W: Did you enjoy your stay with us, sir
M: Yes, very much. Now I need to get to the airport. I have a flight that leaves in about two hours.
I heard you have a free airport bus service
W: Yes, we do. The next bus leaves in about half an hour. It takes about twenty-five minutes to
get to the airport.
M: Fantastic. I’ll just wait in the hallway. Will you please let me know when it will be leaving
W: Of course, sir. Oh, before you go, would you please settle the bill for your drink at our bar just
now
M: Oh, sorry, I almost forgot. How much is it
W: Fifteen dollars and fifty cents. How would you like to pay
M: Credit card. And I’ll need a receipt, please.
W: Okay. Would you like to sign the hotel guest book while you wait
M: Sure, I had a really good stay here.
W: Thank you again for staying with us.
Text 10
W: Well, now let me tell you what I’ve been doing in recent years. In 2015, I retired from my post
as a designer for a furniture company. And since then, I’ve been working as a volunteer. In
2017, I joined Green Woodpecker — an organization that promotes environmental protection.
At the beginning, I mostly worked in public squares near the west railway station, helping the
traffic police and giving directions to passengers. Then my work focus changed. When our city
(北京)股份有限公司
adopted the new tobacco control rules in June, 2018, I began a new task: persuading people
not to smoke in public places. In addition to the railway station, I have been going to places
where there are many restaurants and bars. We work in groups of three, and try to stop people
from smoking. Fortunately, most smokers are supportive and put out their cigarettes when we
ask them to, but that was not the case in the early days — some smokers could become quite
violent.
I like being a volunteer. The work is exciting and makes me feel young. It has now become
part of my life.
