文档简介

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
This summer my swim team had to run the Snack Stand to raise money for swim meets and equipment. But Coach Edward called us all together and said, “I just got word that the Snack Stand will be canceled through August.” No Snack Stand meant no money for swim meets! Coach Edward continued, “I’m just not sure what’s going to happen. For now, let’s jump into that pool and get swimming!”
The next morning, practice felt really weird. None of us were swimming our best, and even though Coach Edward was smiling as usual, we could tell he was worried. When we got out of the pool for a break, Daniel, captain of our swimming team, said, “I’ ve been wondering if we can’t run the Snack Stand, maybe we can think of other ways to raise money.”“Good idea,” we all agreed.
At first, Coach Edward wasn’t sure about doing a big fundraiser. But once he saw how much we all wanted to help, he said, “OK! Let’s go for it!” That’s when we started brainstorming ideas for the Big Stand. “We could have a Fun in the Sun Lemonade Stand,” I suggested. “I could bring my karaoke machine from home, and the songs could be about swimming and water, “said one team member. So many kids offered to make fish cookies. We spent so much time getting everything ready and were positive that it would be a grand success.
I was squeezing lemons for lemonade the day before our big event when I saw a very dark cloud outside the kitchen window. “Uh-oh! That’s not a rain cloud is it ” I asked my mom. “Rain would be a disaster! It could ruin everything.” “You know what they say,” she answered. “Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. ”“Hmm,” I said. The next day, as soon as arriving at the pool grounds, Daniel and I set up our Fun in the Sun Lemonade Stand. We had stacks of cups, and a fancy drink filled with lemonade. The weather started out just fine. Even more people than we’d expected sang songs, and gobbled cookies.
