Jane and I were college roommates, and our first meet was far from friendly. I, an outgoing and passionate girl, found Jane, a quiet and shy person, difficult to get along with. Our conflicting lifestyles became a headache for both of us. Jane enjoyed early mornings at the library, absorbed in reading, while I preferred my sleep-ins. The sound of her early morning routine, from washing up to organizing the room, really got on my nerves. Jane would actively tidy up our shared space after study, while my desk remained in constant disorder.
One morning, I was unexpectedly awakened by a loud crash, only to discover that Jane had accidentally broken my favorite cup. Imagining all the disagreements, I was getting mad. I lost my temper and yelled a bunch of angry words at her without thinking. “What on earth, Jane! That was my favorite cup!” “I’m so sorry! I’ll clean it up.” “Clean it up You’ve got to be kidding me!” After my outburst, Jane’s eyes welled up with tears. Silently, she began to clean up the broken pieces before leaving the room with her bag.
That night, as the bell signaling the end of study hours rang, I returned to the room only to find it empty. The roommate, who usually hangs around the room, was nowhere to be seen. It felt a little strange like something wasn’t right. I thought maybe she was still upset about our argument in the morning. I started worrying. Did what I said hurt her feelings Is she avoiding me now I kept thinking about our argument. It was then that I noticed the cleanliness Jane had left behind — a dorm so clean you could eat off the floor. I was filled with regret as I became aware of the consequences of my morning outburst. I didn’t want to ruin our friendship. Feeling bad and wanting to fix things, I decided to go to find her.

**Paragraph 1**:I was about to walk towards the door when it suddenly opened. Standing at the door was Jane. Her eyes were still a bit red and swollen, obviously she had just cried. She was holding a bag in her hand. When she saw me about to go out, there was a hint of surprise on her face. We looked at each other for a moment, and the atmosphere was a bit awkward. I broke the silence first and said softly, "Jane, I'm sorry. I was too impulsive this morning. I shouldn't have lost my temper with you." Jane was slightly stunned, and then her eyes welled up with tears again. She said, "Actually, it's my fault. I shouldn't have been so careless and broken your cup." I stepped forward and took her hand, saying, "Don't say that. We both made mistakes. During this time, I've always had opinions about you because of our different living habits. I didn't understand you well and always let you accommodate me." Jane shook her head and said, "I'm also wrong. I should have considered your feelings more and made less noise in the morning." We apologized to each other, cleared up the misunderstanding, and both had relieved smiles on our faces. At this time, Jane handed me the bag in her hand and said, "This is for you."
**Paragraph 2**:With care, I opened the beautifully wrapped box. Inside was a new cup that was almost exactly the same as the one I had broken. There was a cute bow tied on the cup. I looked up at Jane in surprise. Jane said a bit shyly, "I went to many stores and finally found this cup that is very similar to your original one. I hope you like it." I was so touched that tears filled my eyes. I hugged Jane tightly and said, "Jane, you're so kind. I love it so much! Actually, the broken cup doesn't matter. What matters is our friendship." Jane hugged me back and said, "Yes, we are roommates and also friends. From now on, we should understand and tolerate each other and get along well." Since then, our relationship has changed a lot. I started to try to get up early and go to the library with Jane. Jane would also try to be as quiet as possible in the morning so as not to disturb my rest. We would clean the dormitory together to keep it tidy all the time. We would share our joys and sorrows with each other and became good friends who could talk about everything. This experience taught us that friendship needs the understanding and tolerance of both sides. Only in this way can the friendship last long.
**Paragraph 1**:I was on the verge of walking towards the door when it suddenly swung open. There stood Jane, her eyes still tinged with redness and puffiness, a clear indication that she had recently been in tears. In her hand, she clutched a bag. As she caught sight of me about to step out, a flicker of surprise flashed across her face. We locked eyes for a moment, and an awkward silence hung heavy in the air. Summoning up my courage, I broke the ice first, my voice soft and filled with remorse. "Jane, I'm truly sorry. I was far too impulsive this morning. I had no right to lose my temper with you like that." Jane was momentarily taken aback, and then her eyes welled up once again. "Actually, it's all my fault," she murmured. "I should have been more careful and not broken your cup." I took a step forward, gently grasping her hand. "Don't say that. We both made mistakes. Lately, I've been so caught up in our differences in living habits that I failed to understand you properly and always expected you to adjust to me." Jane shook her head gently. "I'm at fault too. I should have been more considerate of your feelings and kept quieter in the morning." As we exchanged apologies, the tension between us dissipated, and relieved smiles spread across our faces. At that moment, Jane extended the bag towards me and said, "This is for you."
**Paragraph 2**:With great care, I delicately unwrapped the beautifully packaged box. Nestled inside was a new cup, almost an exact replica of the one that had been shattered. A charming bow adorned the cup, adding a touch of sweetness. I looked up at Jane in astonishment. Jane, a hint of shyness in her voice, said, "I scoured countless stores before finally finding this cup that closely resembles your original one. I sincerely hope you'll like it." Moved to tears, I pulled Jane into a tight embrace. "Jane, you're so thoughtful. I absolutely love it! The broken cup is just a thing. What truly matters is our friendship." Jane returned the hug, saying, "Yes, we're not only roommates but also friends. From now on, let's make a conscious effort to understand and tolerate each other and build a stronger bond." From that day forward, our relationship underwent a remarkable transformation. I began making an effort to rise early and accompany Jane to the library. Jane, for her part, would go to great lengths to be as quiet as possible in the morning, ensuring she didn't disrupt my rest. We would work together to clean the dormitory, keeping it spick - and - span at all times. We shared our deepest joys and sorrows, becoming inseparable confidants. This experience taught us a valuable lesson: friendship thrives on mutual understanding and tolerance. Only by nurturing these qualities can our bond endure the test of time.
