专题二 完形填空
完形填空题是考查学生阅读理解和语言运用能力的综合性试题。它考查的知识面广,覆盖面大,综合性强,灵活度高。它不仅能客观地反映出学生的知识水平,而且能反映出学生的阅读能力、语言运用能力、逻辑推理能力和分析判断能力。它要求学生既要运用自己所学的词汇、语法等基础知识妥善地处理好每个单句,理解语义,又要处理好单句之间与全文之间的内在联系。
中考采用的完形填空是从四个选项中选择一个最佳答案的形式。其篇章多为一篇200词左右的短文,题量为10个单项选择的小题。其选材多数是故事性的短文,也有科普文章、人物传记、社会文化等类型的文章。由于这些文章涉及面广,所以要求学生既要有比较扎实的英语基础知识,还要有一定的社会科学常识。
完形填空题命题的选材与立意思路主要表现在以下几个方面:
1.体裁、题材多样,考查学生涉猎各种信息的能力
从完形填空题的选材可以看出该题型所选短文的体裁、题材多样。体裁主要有记叙文、说明文等;题材涉及趣味故事、幽默小品、科普知识、日常生活、人物小记、社会话题等。尽管体裁、题材多样,但所选的短文不长,一般在200词左右,而且短文情节连贯,层次分明,线索不复杂。一篇短文重点叙述一种观点,几个小段落集中表达一个主题。完形填空题如此选材的目的是考查学生是否有阅读各种体裁、题材文章的能力以及获取各种信息的能力。
2.侧重整体理解,考查学生快速阅读的能力
完形填空题实际上是恢复原貌式的阅读理解题,各种短文结构严谨,段落清楚,而且一般不在首句和尾句挖空,便于学生依据首句提示进行整体理解。解答完形填空题要求学生具备快速阅读的各种技巧,如速读、跳读、查读、猜词等。因为完形填空题要求学生在有限的时间内不仅要读完全文和选项,而且要考虑各个选项的正误,同时还要对句子结构进行分析,对词义进行辨析,对隐含的主题进行推断,对有些答案要反复核查。由此可见,阅读速度会直接影响答题效果。
3.侧重基础知识,考查学生掌握语言知识的能力
完形填空题以文入手,结合文章内容考查学生的基础语言知识,主要是考查学生词语搭配、辨析句子结构、掌握词汇的含义等能力。
4.上下对照,考查学生捕捉关键词的能力
做完形填空题,有时仅看一句是得不出答案的,需要阅读下句,甚至若干句后才有“茅塞顿开”之感。答题时要对照上下文,即在上文或下文中找到与答案相关的关键词。这就要求学生在答题时要有边读边在大脑中储存上下文信息和捕捉关键词的能力。
5.设置语境,考查学生的分析推理能力
解答完形填空题,有时无上下对照的关键词做参考,学生需要根据前后语境去推断答案。在这种试题中,往往会发现把四个选项填入句中后,其语法及句子结构都正确。但联系前后文,却只有一个最佳答案。
6.结合生活,考查学生利用常识解题的能力
有时命题者在完形填空题中考查学生的生活常识知识,看看学生是否善于观察生活,积累生活常识,能否利用常识去做出恰当的选择。这类题的解答,不一定需要联系上下文,只需依据常识即可。但是,这种情形极为罕见。
1.读通全文,了解大意
完形填空题不同于单项选择题,它所给的是一篇意思完整的短文,所选的答案处在整段或整篇文章当中。做完形填空时,建议先通读一遍全文,对全文内容、作者观点和态度、文体等各方面有一个宏观的了解。
如果为了节省时间而边看边填,就会欲速则不达,这样不仅失误率高,且费时不少。阅读中要重视文章首句,因为首句往往是探索短文全貌的“窗口”,常常点明了全文的中心思想,对理解文章影响很大。通读全文时,应采用快速阅读法,如遇到个别生词,要么通过上下文或构词法猜测其意,要么暂时跳过,不必进行字斟句酌的精读。
2.逐句细读,边读边选
通读全文后就可以在细读的基础上完成填空了。这时要细心谨慎,逐句地细读和分析,每填一空都要注意词义恰当和前后照应。做题时要善于发现和利用文中的信息句,从字里行间寻求启示。
因为词与词、句与句之间都是靠一定逻辑关系和固定短语的搭配而联系在一起的,所以可根据上下文的语意来选择与前后句有联系的名词、动词(短语)、形容词或副词等。在选择中应遵循“先易后难”的原则,对有把握的选项可一锤定音,如果遇到一时难以确定的答案可先不填,先去做后面的有把握的,待填完其他空格后,再回过头来做前面的,有时前后空格会互相提示或补充。
3.重读全文,核实答案
所有的答案选出之后,应再读全文,对所选的答案进行核实调整。经过第二步逐句推敲之后,对短文内容的理解更为深刻。在第二步时有些难解或误解的问题就很容易暴露出来,从而也能得到更好的解答。
