Teaching aims 1. Get the students to understand the whole passage. 2. Improve students’ ability of reading information. 3. Enable the students to have a better understanding about high school life. 4. Guide the students to summary their own experiences and keep a positive attitude toward high school life.
Teaching important points Help the students to feel the theme of the text on the basis of understanding. 2. Guide the students to understand the passage through reading and get the relevant advice on senior high school life.

What challenges Menghao will meet at senior high 2: Think about the things Menghao wants to achieve at high school and rank them in order of importance. (1 = most important) □ join a school club □ take a trip with your classmates □get the highest score in a test at least once □get to know all the schoolmates in your grade □stand on stage at least once win an award □read as many books as possible □learn a new skill Activity2: Look at the word cloud and the picture and predict what is talked about in the interview. Activity3: How many questions are mentioned in this interview What are they Four. (1) What helped when you first started high school (2) How did you deal with new challenges, like starting a new course (3) You must have had some moments when you were disappointed. If so, how did you deal with them (4) Is there anything else in particular that you’d like to share with us Scan the interview and find out the proper suggestions to each question. Activity4: Scan the interview and answer the questions. What did Lisa find most helpful when she started high school Qrientation Day was really helpful. Students can get to know the school and other students. Keep an open mind and take part in as much as possible. How did she deal with new challenges She figured she should go all out and see what happens. How did she handle disappointments She realised that it wasn’t just about winning, and kept working hard to be part of something she loved. Activity5: Think about the two sentences and share your ideas. If you fail, no problem — next time you can fail better! It is Ok to fail, as long as you learn something from it to help you succeed next time. Be a rainbow in somebody else’s cloud! When somebody needs help you can help them. 2.
