(24-25高三上·浙江·阶段练习)I often remind myself that Inside Out is a movie made for kids. Maybe because I was 9 years old when I first watched it. Back then, it was just a fun movie about colorful characters inside a girl’s head: Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger, and Disgust. And guess what my favorite is Joy! I admired her sparkle and the way she made everything feel brighter. I feel like she was the only important emotion because she made Riley happy.
Now, I am an 18-year-old grown-up. I was excited when I heard Inside Out 2 is coming out in 2024. Who said this is just for kids My younger self back in 2015 would definitely tease me for watching “child’s stuff.” But this new part is adding even more depth, introducing new emotions like Embarrassment, Ennui (无聊), Envy, and Anxiety.
It feels like the movie waited for us to grow up to launch part 2. They want us to feel what Riley’s feeling. It’s like they knew we needed time to understand the first movie fully, and now they’re ready to take us deeper.
And yes, it did go deeper. I never expected that this movie would make me shed tears. “I don’t know how to stop anxiety. Maybe it’s true that when you grow old, you’ll feel less happy.” And you know what That’s perfectly fine. It’s okay to feel anxious, it’s okay to be scared, and it’s okay to realize that this world is not only about happiness.
Growing up, you will realize that Joy isn’t the only important emotion. All of our emotions are meant to be felt, even the hard ones. They shape how we see the world and how we connect with each other. This showed us that our feelings are part of what makes us who we are. They’re not something to hide or ignore—they’re the heartbeats of our experiences, guiding us through life’s ups and downs. So, let’s embrace them, cherish them, and remember that feeling all our emotions deeply is a beautiful part of being alive.
1. What did the author think of Inside Out when first watching it
A. It was intended for children. B. It was difficult for kids to understand.

C&D 2
Always busy “doing” things If so, you may be suffering from “toxic productivity,” a destructive rather than productive behavior.
I imagine you’re thinking, “Productivity must be good, right ” But toxic productivity, in contrast with regular productivity, is an excessive need to always be productive, regardless of the cost to your health, relationships, and life.
If you’re driven to continuously “produce” or “do” things, whether at work or at home, the results are frequently not your best — they’re usually delivered without any delay and without sufficient forethought, analysis, planning or reflection. And if, in the doing, you’re also exhausted and burned out — or feeling guilty for not doing more or better — you are very likely suffering from toxic productivity.
Often, I see coaching clients who have a challenge in front of them, and their first response is to do something, at once. Anything. They don’t want to sit with the problem, they don’t want to think about it, nor do they want to take time to reflect on any options for action. All they want to do is hear what the issue is — sometimes without even fully understanding it — and then quickly get straight on with the “doing.” Whatever their reason, these clients, like many people, just want to get on and “do” — even if this means getting poorer results.
There are all sorts of reasons for this toxic productivity. Number one is that “doing” often feels more comfortable than “not doing.” There’s often a firm belief that action speaks louder than words and that it’s a virtue to act fast. In the workplace, for example, leaders want to demonstrate that they are successful, which they usually associate with being productive. There is also a competitive culture among junior staff wanting to stand out as keen, hard workers in order to progress in their careers. And thus, a culture of toxic productivity can develop throughout an organisation.
5. How is toxic productivity different from regular productivity
A. It is harmful. B. It is flexible.
C. It is more efficient. D. It is more time-consuming.
6. Who are most likely to suffer from toxic productivity
A. Clients avoiding challenges. B. Junior staff eager to stand out.
C. Leaders satisfied with their success. D. Workers reflecting on options before acting.
7. What is the main reason for toxic productivity
A. A strong desire for success. B. Too much emphasis on virtues.
C. A cultural preference for action. D. Too much pressure from others.
8. Which of following best describes toxic productivity
A. Doing is undoing. B. The sooner the better.
C. Enough is enough. D. Better safe than sorry.
C&D 3
(2024·全国·模拟预测)In the complex dance of human-to-human networking, a new rhythm (节奏) is emerging with artificial intelligence (AI). This isn’t just about connecting profiles or exchanging business cards; it’s about AI promoting deeper, more meaningful connections. In a world where genuine human interaction is more valued than ever, AI is proving to be an unexpected tower of strength, enhancing the way we network, build relationships, and cooperate.
The integration of AI into networking is not replacing the human element; it’s improving the quality and value of it. By employing AI, people, like professionals, are finding new ways to connect, engage, and grow together. It’s about using technology to uncover hidden opportunities and build connections personally and professionally.
Networking events and conferences also benefit from AI. Some apps use AI to match attendees with similar interests, making it easier to find and connect with the right people at events, leading to more meaningful interactions and cooperation. Furthermore, in the era of remote work and virtual meetings, AI provides personalized recommendations for online events, ensuring individuals can connect and engage in ways that are most relevant to them.
AI also assists in building and developing professional communities. By analyzing discussion topics, member interactions, and engagement patterns, AI can suggest relevant content, generate discussions, and facilitate connections within these communities.
As we look ahead, the role of AI in people networking promises even more innovative and transformative developments and the potential is boundless. The key to AI’s successful integration into networking lies in harmonizing technology with humanity. AI is most effective when it works well with human intuition (直觉) and emotional intelligence, not when it tries to replace them. Thus, finding perfect harmony is crucial. With AI’s growing influence in networking, moral considerations, particularly around data privacy and security, are a priority in making these connection tools. By ensuring the responsible use of AI, people will maintain trust and genuineness in networking interactions.

C&D 4
(2024·全国·模拟预测)Many varieties of juices sold at the grocery store contain mostly apple juice, even if they’re labeled as other flavors. While apple juice may not be what you expect, does its inclusion have any health implications
The grocery may offer you plenty of choices when it comes to apple juice. Regardless of the type you pick, you’ll take in carbohydrates (碳水化合物) and other nutrients, including vitamin C. The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) of vitamin C for adults ranges from 75 to 90 milligrams. Most apple juice brands provide an entire day’s worth of vitamin C in one serving.
Vitamin C offers potential benefits like lessening common cold symptoms (症状), promoting heart health, and making collagen (胶原蛋白). Apple juice can also help keep you refreshed, thanks to its high water content, minerals, and natural sugars, according to registered dietitian Abbey Sharp.
Sharp notes that some brands whose apple juice is very luscious may have a high sugar content due to added sugar to enhance flavor, and also the natural sugars from the apple.
The main difference between eating a piece of fruit and drinking fruit juice is that the latter usually lacks the fruit’s fiber, which helps slow down the body’s blood sugar response. Experts note that for those advised by a doctor to watch their blood sugar, pairing non-fibrous fruit juice with a meal containing fiber, protein, and fat can help regulate blood sugar and deliver better nutrition. Sharp says that even unsweetened apple juice can cause blood sugar increases.
To maximize health benefits and minimize the downside, Sharp recommends opting for vegetable-based juice or juice with the fruit’s fiber still included, such as juice with bits. “The healthiest food in any category will depend on you, your budget, your culture, your health goals, and so much more.”
13. What do paragraph 2 and paragraph 3 mainly talk about
A. The popular types of apple juice. B. The sugar content of apple juice.
C. The nutritional value of apple juice. D. The appropriate intake of apple juice.
14. What does the underlined word “luscious” in paragraph 4 mean
A. Tasty. B. Fresh. C. Natural. D. Colorful.
15. What is the advantage of fruit over juice
A. It provides more essential nutrients. B. It contains far less fat and fiber.
C. It makes for better blood sugar control. D. It has no side effects on digestion.
16. Why does the author write the text
A. To compare juice and fresh fruit. B. To debate apple juice’s health effects.
C. To stress the benefits of vitamin C. D. To show features of the healthiest food.
C&D 5
(24-25高三上·湖南长沙·阶段练习)Some scientists insist that once we discover the truth about the world, we are done. Anyone who denies such truths, they suggest, is stupid or ignorant (无知的). Well, no. In science, what we do is both hard and, often, hard to explain. The history of science offers many examples of matters that scientists thought they had resolved, only to discover that these matters needed to be reconsidered. Familiar examples include Earth as the center of the universe and the stability of continents.
Science is a process of learning and discovery, and sometimes we learn that what we thought was right is wrong. To say that science is “true” or “permanent” is like saying that “beauty is absolute”. At best, it’s a bit off-key The concept of beauty today is very different from what it was in ancient Greece or the Middle Ages, and so are most of our “laws” of nature.
Other scientists may say scientific findings are true because they use “the scientific method”. But we can never actually agree on what that method is. Some will say it is observation and description of the world. Others will say it is the use of experience and experiment. Recently a leading scientist said the scientific method was to avoid fooling oneself into thinking something is true that is not.
Each of these views has its value, but if the claim is that any one of these is the scientific method, then they all fail. History and philosophy have shown that the idea of a singular (唯一的) scientific method is unscientific. In fact, the methods of science have varied between disciplines and across time. Scientists have bitterly argued about which methods are the best, and, as we all know, bitter arguments rarely get resolved.
In my view, science is not simple, and neither is the natural world. Our efforts to understand and explain the natural world are just that: efforts.
Because we’re human, we often fall flat. The good news is that when that happens, we pick ourselves up, brush ourselves off, and get back to work. Understanding the world we live in, and using that knowledge to do useful things, is its own reward.
17. According to paragraph 1, what is considered as truth in science________.
A. may have lasting value B. may need re-examining
C. should be known to all D. should not be rejected
18. Why does the author mention “beauty” in paragraph 2
A. To raise a question. B. To make a prediction.
C. To illustrate an idea. D. To propose a solution.
19. What does the author think of the methods of science
A. They shouldn’t be used to fool the public.
B. They rely heavily on observation and description.
C. They seldom cause arguments among scientists.
D. They shouldn’t be limited to a single method.
20. What could be the best title for the passage
A. Efforts in Science: Dreaming Big. B. Science: Endless Journey to Truth.
C. Scientists: Defenders of Science.

根据最后一段中“Growing up, you will realize that Joy isn’t the only important emotion. All of our emotions are meant to be felt, even the hard ones. They shape how we see the world and how we connect with each other. This showed us that our feelings are part of what makes us who we are. (长大后,你会意识到快乐并不是唯一重要的情感。我们所有的情感都是要被感知的,即使是最强烈的情感。它们塑造了我们如何看待世界,以及我们如何相互联系。这告诉我们,我们的感觉是决定我们是谁的一部分)”可知,作者希望传达的信息是,我们的情感是我们的一部分,它们塑造了我们的世界观和人际关系,混合的情感使我们独特而美丽。故选D。

(24-25高三上·浙江·阶段练习)Always busy “doing” things If so, you may be suffering from “toxic productivity,” a destructive rather than productive behavior.
A 6. B 7. C 8. A

D. Scientific Method: Simple Choice.
