(24-25高三上·江西·阶段练习)After defeating her opponent Feng Xiaocan in a UFC tournament in Macao in November, China’s mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Shi Ming solidified her reputation — not just through her athletic performance, but also for her identity as a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioner.
Shi’s journey into the world of martial arts began at college when she joined her university’s martial arts team. With natural talent and an unwavering (坚定的) work ethic, she quickly excelled in local competitions. Under the guidance of US catch wrestling coach Bagher Amanolahi, Shi immersed herself in mastering MMA’s multifaceted techniques. Her dedication soon paid off as she transitioned from local competitions to the global stage. Since 2020, she has fought 12 MMA matches, including three UFC fights in 2024.
While her rise in MMA has been impressive, what sets Shi apart is her ability to balance two demanding careers. Her days often start with early-morning hospital shifts, followed by intense evening training sessions. Despite the challenges, Shi believes her dual roles complement each other. “Medicine and martial arts both require discipline, empathy, and a commitment to continuous learning,” she said. Her medical expertise in TCM has also proven invaluable in her athletic career as it could aid recovery for herself and her teammates.
Balancing her medical career with her UFC dreams is not without challenges. As she faces increasingly strong international competitors, Shi acknowledges that a decision may eventually be needed. “There may come a time when I need to focus more on the fighting,” she said. “If that happens, I’ll gradually shift my focus more toward the sport.”
As she envisions her future, Shi has an unconventional aspiration (渴望). “If I ever get the chance, I would love to wear a qipao, or Chinese traditional dress, to the UFC cage to show the strength of Chinese women in sports and represent my culture,” she said.

(2024·全国·模拟预测)At a Berlin trade fair for sustainability, a new gadget caught Waltraud Berg’s eye — a solar panel small enough to be easily installed on the side of a balcony and then plugged into a wall socket to feed energy produced by the sun directly into her home.
“I was absolutely thrilled to learn that such a thing even existed, that you can generate your own power and be more independent,” said Ms. Berg, a retiree who installed several panels on the south-facing balcony of her Berlin apartment by herself.
Each of the lightweight panels produces only enough electricity to charge a laptop or run a small refrigerator. But in homes across Germany, they are powering a quiet transformation, bringing the green revolution into the hands of people without requiring them to make a large investment, find an electrician or use heavy tools.
The so-called plug-in systems involve routing the direct current generated by the panels to an inverter (换流器), which converts it to an alternating current. They can then be plugged into a conventional wall socket to feed power to a home.
“You don’t need to drill or hammer anything,” Ms. Berg said. “You just hang them from the balcony like wet laundry in Italy.” Beyond what she is saving financially, however, she said she felt a sense of satisfaction to be taking steps to reduce her carbon footprint.
More than 500 000 of the systems have already been set up across Germany, and new laws that relaxed rules around solar panel installation have contributed to a boom in use. In the first six months of the year, the country added nine gigawatts (千兆瓦) of photovoltaic (光电的) capacity, the amount of solar power a system produces, according to the Federal Network Agency, a German regulator.
“We are seeing a continuous increase in solar installations in particular,” said Klaus Müller, president of the agency. “Compared to the total capacity at the end of 2023, almost 10 percent more solar capacity was added. Of that, two-thirds was installed on buildings, which includes balcony systems.”
“As part of its push to move away from dependence on Russian natural gas, the European Union is looking to quadruple (成四倍) the amount of power generated through photovoltaic sources by 2030, to 600 gigawatts,” he added.
5.What inspired Waltraud Berg to install solar panels on her balcony
A.A recommendation from a salesman.
B.The size and convenience of the gadget.
C.The plan to control budget and save financially.
D.The desire to show her ability to live independently.
6.What is one advantage of the plug-in solar systems mentioned in the article
A.They help reduce carbon emissions enormously.
B.They are cost-effective and user-friendly to install.
C.They can be plugged directly into a converted socket.
D.They produce enough electricity to power an entire home.
7.What has contributed to the rapid increase in solar panel installations in Germany
A.Newly revised installation rules and laws. B.A drop in prices of raw material from China.
C.Constant support from European countries. D.An increase in the number of balcony systems.
8.We can learn from Klaus Müller’s words that ______.
A.solar power has been popularized globally
B.the current capacity will be doubled this year
C.reliance on Russian energy resources is decreasing
D.2/3 of the solar energy is produced by balcony panels

C&D 3
(24-25高三上·河北唐山·期末)In 2019, Polly Greenblatt set a professional goal to integrate the design thinking process into classroom curriculums. This approach focuses on creating effective solutions for others through deep understanding, rather than emphasizing success or money.
“I think it’s important to include understanding others in curriculums because we’ve become such a global society, but we all still kind of live in our own little bubble. Some of our kids don’t really go outside of our town,” said Greenblatt.
Greenblatt decided the best product to develop with this process would be a pair of shoes. She noticed when first graders tried designing a backpack for a friend, they would focus on their own needs. “Shoes weren’t too far out of the world of their own little reality, but they were completely removed from themselves,” she said.
The concept was that students would research the journey to school children from different regions of the world experienced, then create a shoe design for them.
The students watched documentaries, researched and even walked on Legos without shoes to better understand the challenges children in other regions faced.
To help deepen the learning on a scientific level, Greenblatt encouraged kids to use animal adaptability features. “Elementary kids don’t have the limitations in their brain of, ‘Oh, that’ s not possible, ‘or’ That’s gonna cost too much money,” Greenblatt said. “One student came up with the idea that like, starfish grow and if we made shoes out of a starfish type skin, that it could grow with the kid as their foot was growing. Ideas like that might not be possible now, but they’re going to be.”
Once their ideas were generated, the students were able to put them to the test. If an idea didn’t work toward their goal, they were encouraged not to give up, but instead to go back in the process and adjust, or try a new idea.
“Now, our kids are able to care about kids around the world, and literally put them in their shoes, we think our kids will make better global citizens for our world.” Greenblatt said proudly.
9.What did Greenblatt intend to do
A.Distinguish her profession. B.Teach money-making methods.
C.Promote the school beyond the town. D.Develop students’ global awareness.
10.Why did Greenblatt choose shoes for her students to design
A.To relate them to others.
B.To challenge them mentally.
C.To improve their design ability.
D.To draw their attention to real life.
11.How did the starfish idea sound to Greenblatt
A.Absurd. B.Creative. C.Practical. D.Costly.
12.What were the students encouraged to do during testing
A.Concentrate. B.Supervise. C.Persevere. D.Compete.
【答案】9.D 10.A 11.B 12.C

根据第二段““I think it’s important to include understanding others in curriculums because we’ve become such a global society, but we all still kind of live in our own little bubble. Some of our kids don’t really go outside of our town,” said Greenblatt. (Greenblatt说:“我认为在课程中加入对他人的理解很重要,因为我们已经成为一个全球性的社会,但我们仍然生活在自己的小泡泡里。我们的一些孩子真的没有走出过我们的城镇。”)”和最后一段““Now, our kids are able to care about kids around the world, and literally put them in their shoes, we think our kids will make better global citizens for our world.” Greenblatt said proudly.(“现在,我们的孩子能够关心世界各地的孩子,真正地为他们着想,我们认为我们的孩子会成为世界上更好的全球公民。”格林布拉特自豪地说)”可知,Greenblatt想要培养学生的全球意识,让他们成为更好的全球公民。故选D项。

(2025·广西柳州·二模)Meta Platforms, formerly known as Facebook, is expected to preview its latest pair of tech-enabled glasses at its annual developer and hardware conference. Mark Zuckerberg, Meta Platforms’ CEO, once announced virtual-reality headsets as the next big thing. It turns out people may want something simpler: sunglasses with a camera.
Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses are gaining popularity among consumers, who say they like using them to take photos for their friends and family as well as to create content for social media. The excitement comes when interest in the metaverse (虚拟世界) , an online world accessed via virtual-reality headsets, remains silent.
The second version of Meta’s smart glasses - which are equipped with a camera, microphones and artificial intelligence - went on sale in October 2023. Zuckerberg said demand has been higher than expected. Meta has shipped more than 700, 000 pairs, according to data provider IDC. Shipments more than doubled from the first to second quarter this year.
Christopher S derberg, a consultant for online influencers who lives in Stockholm, bought the smart glasses in May. He said they helped him kick-start his own influencer career. He can film the videos himself smoothly and walk up to people in a way that is less disturbing or annoying while still letting them know he’s recording. To record with the glasses, Meta Ray-Ban users press a button to start a 30-second, 60-second or three-minute video. S derberg said, “It’s a game changer.”
Meta is hoping people will come to enjoy the AI features. The company said it redesigned the second-generation glasses from the ground up, improving the audio and camera capabilities and also adding the AI tools.
Beyond Meta, other tech companies are also exploring tech-enabled glasses. But few of them have yet managed to occupy the market.
13.What is the present situation of the metaverse according to the text
A.It is developing rapidly. B.It is losing its attraction.
C.It is being updated. D.It is reaching its peak.
14.What can we infer about the second version of Meta’s smart glasses
A.They are taking up the whole market. B.They are gaining popularization.
C.They are welcomed by the youth. D.They are taking the place of other products.
15.Which is close to the meaning of the underlined sentence “It’s a game changer. ” in paragraph 4
A.It is innovative. B.It is demanding.
C.It is appealing. D.It is amusing.
16.How did Meta attract consumers to its smart glasses
A.By lowering their price. B.By selling them with other tech companies.
C.By advertising them with film videos. D.By equipping them with more high technology.

(2024·四川达州·一模)Fashion magazines usually mean grand photoshoots showing models with colorful, eye-catching clothing in unique patterns. But, imagine a fashion magazine without a single picture in it. British Vogue, the UK’s well-known fashion magazine is making history by doing just that, making copies of the magazine available in pictureless Braille (盲文) and audio formats for blind and low vision folks.
Selma Blair is best known for her acting career, but she’s also known as a disability advocate. British Vogue interviewed Blair about her struggles with multiple sclerosis (硬化症) in its May 2023 edition and the actress was also featured on the magazine’s cover. That wasn’t an accident, but rather a sign of the fashion magazine’s commitment to disability inclusion.
Edward Enninful, the former editor-in-chief of the well-known magazine, announced the new format in an Instagram post that has since gotten more than 40,000 likes. “For the first time in the magazine’s history,” Enninful’s post reads, “I am pleased to share that the magazine is now available in Braille, for blind and partially sighted people. The Vogue team and I are delighted by the response to the May issue, but what the process of making it taught us is that what are most important are clear and lasting changes.”
Vogue’s move towards greater accessibility mirrored Eninnful’s experiences and his values. “I’m partially blind and my hearing is less than 50 percent. It’s never stopped me, but there are so many people with invisible disabilities who never talk about it, because it might block them. We always talk about diversity and inclusivity, but that also has to extend to our disabled brothers and sisters,” he said.
The move has been warmly praised by people with disabilities and disability advocates. Natalie Trevonne, a blend fashion designer and accessibility consultant, says that the new formats are a good start, but there’s still a lot more to do. She shares, “I just hope they will go beyond that and start including more blind and low vision folks in front of the camera and in more fashion brand campaigns.”

10.推理判断题。根据第三段中““Shoes weren’t too far out of the world of their own little reality, but they were completely removed from themselves,” she said. (“鞋子离他们自己的小现实世界并不太远,但它们完全脱离了他们自己,”她说。)”和第四段中“The concept was that students would research the journey to school children from different regions of the world experienced, then create a shoe design for them.(设计理念是,学生们将研究来自世界不同地区的孩子们上学的经历,然后为他们设计一款鞋子)”可知,鞋子对于学生来说,既不完全脱离现实,又能让他们在设计时考虑他人的需求,有助于培养他们的全球意识,让他们关注到他人。 故选A项。
根据倒数第三段中Greenblatt的话“One student came up with the idea that like, starfish grow and if we made shoes out of a starfish type skin, that it could grow with the kid as their foot was growing. Ideas like that might not be possible now, but they’re going to be. (一个学生提出了这样的想法,海星会生长,如果我们用海星类型的皮肤做鞋子,它可以随着孩子的脚一起生长。像这样的想法现在可能还不可能实现,但将来会的)”可知,Greenblatt认为海星鞋的想法虽然现在可能无法实现,但将来是有可能的,说明她对这个想法持肯定态度,认为它很有创意。故选B项。
12.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“Once their ideas were generated, the students were able to put them to the test. If an idea didn’t work toward their goal, they were encouraged not to give up, but instead to go back in the process and adjust, or try a new idea. (一旦他们的想法产生,学生们就能够对其进行测试。如果一个想法不能实现他们的目标,他们被鼓励不要放弃,而是回到过程中进行调整,或者尝试一个新的想法)”可知,在测试过程中,学生们被鼓励要坚持下去,不要轻易放弃。故选C项。
