3. express their own ideas on the given topics through creative thinking.

1. Apply different approaches to discouse analysis to deepen the understanding of the text and language use.
2.Identify the useful patterns and expressions from the reading text and use the target language to express themselves.
教学过程设计
Step 1 Lead-in
Teacher:Get students to share their feelingsas a freshman at senior high school and what they want to know about school life in other countries.
·Students: Talk about their senior high school life and what they are eager to know about school life in foreign countries.
(设计意图:导入环节以学生视角来设置问题,从认识自我过渡到了解他人,贴近中学生生活,并且能够激发他们了解国外同龄人学习和生活的好奇心,为接下来的阅读任务做好铺垫。)

Step Il Discourse analysis
* Teacher:Get everyone to figure out the discourse pattern of the whole passage and paragraphs as well.
* Students: Dig into the whole text,find the topics and share the related details from it.

注:6T指Text(语篇),Task(任务),Topic(话题),Thread(线索),Transition(过渡),Theme(主题)。

Step III Pragmatic analysis
* Teacher:Let students analyse the pragmatic value of the text through different angles.
* Students: Read and infer the writing purpose and the intended readers.

Step IV Topic-related lexis
* Teacher: Help students look for the lexical chain under the guidance o the given topic.
* Students:Look for related phrases in the text and make a list of lexis.
(设计意图:引导学生建立与主题相关的词汇链,一方面加深对主题词汇的理解,另一方面为词汇的应用打下基础。)
