They look like plants, but they have no leaves or flowers. A large part of them grows underground. They can help us slow down climate (气候)change. Can you guess what they are
No Okay, here is one more tip: Some of them (like many kinds of mushrooms) make our dishes delicious, but others can make you very sick or even kill you. Yes, you should have already guessed the answer—fungi(真菌). Most of us only know the tasty ones among them. We know little about their roles in our fight against climate change. But if we want to save the Earth, we must not turn a blind eye to their existence (存在).
However, people care little about these invisible (看不见的) networks. In fact, humans have been destroying(破坏) them at an amazing speed. Modern industries have brought about worse effects on living things in the soil. As people cut down trees for wood, for example, they cut down all kinds of underground fungal communities(真菌群落) by about 75 percent. The destruction of fungal networks can lead to many problems. First, it speeds up climate change. You may think a release (释放) of just 0. 1% of the coal now stored in Europe's soils is not worth mentioning. Also, many animals and trees depend on certain kinds of fungi. Without the fungi, they become sick or even die.
Fungi are often very small and they grow silently. They seem to hide themselves from our attention. However, they are important “environmental engineers. ” We should try to learn more about them. And we must take action right away to give them good protection.
47. What is the article mainly about

B. The role of fungi in fighting against climate change.
C. Some unknown uses of mushrooms in daily lives.

A. 允许 B. 怀疑 C. 无视 D. 打扰
49. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to Paragraph 3
A. Modern industries have no effects on living things in the soil.
B. All the underground fungal communities should be reduced.
C. The destruction of fungal networks can lead to many animals and trees falling ill.
D. Although a large part of fungi grows underground, they easily get our attention.
50. Which of the following can also be used as a title for this article
A. Climate Change: a Big Threat B. Mushrooms: Myths and Truths
C. Trees: Nature's Biggest Protectors D. Fungi: The Hidden Heroes of Ecosystems

参考答案:
Dear Sir/ Madam,
I'm Li Ping from Class One, Grade Nine. I'm writing to recommend my class as the Civilized Class.
Firstly, our class environment is very comfortable. Just as the saying goes, “Good environment brings a good mind. ” We always keep our classroom clean and tidy. Besides, there is a reading corner where we can do some reading during breaks.
Secondly, all the students love motherland and love school. Also, whether in class or after class, we always show our respect to our teachers. What's more, we follow class rules strictly.
The last thing I want to mention is the good learning atmosphere of our class. We work hard, make progress actively and finish our homework on time. If someone has trouble with learning, we always help each other out.
In a word, we sincerely wish to be chosen as the Civilized Class. Thank you for spending time reading this letter.
Yours,
Li Hua
