These days, more and more people fall in love with the “city walk” around China. The city walk is a kind of city travel coming from the UK. It means travelers follow a planned route (路线) working deeply on the city’s history and culture. During the traditional kind of travel, people usually follow a group of people. ①Do you think wild boars (野猪) would be in a subway tunnel (隧道) It happened in Nanjing on Nov 28. Wild boars are bringing us some problems these days. They run through cities, break into shops, and even hurt people.
②This is happening because there are too many of them! In recent years, the environment has got better. The wild boars live better and have more babies. There are about 2 million wild boars in China. They need more food and space, so they come into our towns.
③But can we just kill them all That’s not a good idea. Every animal is important in nature. Wild boars eat dead animals. This stops diseases (疾病). They are like nature’s cleaners! They also dig up ground with their noses. This helps plants grow.
④What to do if you see a wild boar Stay away! Wild boars are much stronger than pigs and can be very dangerous. A wild boar can jump 1 meter high. It weighs up to 200 kilograms. It runs at 40-70 kilometers per hour, as fast as a car.
⑤To solve the wild boar problem, we find out where the wild boars go and when they come out. This way, people can stay away from them. For example, in Jiangsu, people use 400 infrared cameras (红外相机) to watch the wild boars and make a “wild boar map”. We can also hunt (追捕) some wild boars, but we need a plan so we don’t hunt too many. In Ningxia, hunters plan to catch 300 wild boars this year to keep their numbers just right.

It’s not easy to advertise a thing everyone knows in a new way. But Pippi’s Place Pet Rescue, a volunteer organization (志愿组织) from America, makes it. It was named after a black cat, Pippi. She was a street cat and then found a loving family. But at two years old, Pippi was hit by a car and died. Pippi’s Place Pet Rescue then came into being. The organization runs not for money, but for helping more street cats find a home. How does it do this
Well, it shows their cats as if they were cars. On its website, people can learn about the cats’ age, color and other information. Kayla Delcoure, a member of the organization, had this idea when her family was thinking about buying a car. This is really helpful. Lots of people become interested in these cats. Some people give money to help these cats live better. A man from Canada came to take an old cat home from the organization.
People give these cats a home, and the cats help make people happy, too. A little girl gets a cat from the organization. She sleeps with it every night. This makes her feel safe and warm. A woman sees her cat as a good friend. The “friend” always walks behind her and makes her laugh. For example, in Jiangsu, people use 400 infrared cameras (红外相机) to watch the wild boars and make a “wild boar map”.
