续写参考范文:
Looking around, we saw a boat floating by the shore. “How about going boating ” Mark asked. “Good idea.” I agreed. I was excited to find so many fishes in the lake. Before I could say a word, Mark had cast the fishing net into the water. “Look this way. Let me take a photo of you two.” Cody said, taking out the camera. Hearing that, I quickly approached Mark. But all of a sudden, I lost my balance and fell into the water.
“Help! Help! Help!” I was so frightened and cried for help. However, none of us could swim. Mark and Cody tried to pull me up from the water but failed. Struggling in the water, I was almost exhausted. Suddenly, I felt myself lifted by someone. It was Mark's neighbor, who followed us there. Without hesitation, he jumped into the water and saved me. With guilt on his face, Mark bowed his head, murmuring, “Thank you.”

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C 和 D 四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
Are you ready to dust off your ski jacket Yes, it’s that time of year when we start planning our escape to the mountains. Here’s all you need to know about this season in the snow.
The new ski package
With the UK’s cost of living crisis, some travelers have been priced out of the market. The twenty-something skier has almost disappeared. So, it’s no wonder that the ski company Action Outdoors launched (发起) its package aimed at 18- to 30-year-olds. At the same time, demand for its all-inclusive and economical family holidays has significantly outnumbered supply. Take, for example, its Easter Family Week: it sold out in five minutes of its release in May.
The ski chalet (小屋) is here to stay
Ski chalets were ‐ by definition ‐ a place where someone else did the cooking. Not anymore. Ovo Network is one of several companies now offering them as self-cooking holiday lets, and it has just added 28 for winter 2024.
All are located in distant and thinly populated areas, and many are refreshingly (惊人地) affordable, provided of course that you can gather a big enough group of friends or family to fill them.
Among the new arrivals is the beautiful, open-plan Chalet Lezopau in France. Admittedly, it’s a two-mile drive to the nearest lift, but for a week from 5 January it costs just ?280 per person for a group of 11 to stay there. The company has also launched a cancellation policy returning 90% of the money you pay up to two days before your arrival date.
What is the current situation of UK’s tourism
A. The young refuse to go skiing. B. It suffers environmental crisis.
C. Low-cost ski trips are on the rise. D. The ski packages are undesirable.
What is a unique feature of the ski chalets owned by Ovo Network
A. There are 28 chalets in total. B. Self-heating meals are offered.
C. They are remote or lesser-known. D. They only receive families or friends.
If 11 people cancel their one-week trip to Chalet Lezopau one day earlier, how much can they receive A. 2772. B. 308. C. 252. D. 28.

This past Tuesday, I had my first ride in an autonomous car. The expectation for me was a bit like a kid waiting for holidays. But when I shared my passion with friends, many warned me to make sure my life insurance was paid in full before getting into the car.
The car looked pretty much like any other car on the road. The most amazing thing about the experience was how un-amazing it was. I’ll admit to being a bit disappointed at how normal it all seemed. I’m ready for a car with no driving wheel (方向盘) and a meeting table in the back. But it’ll be a long time before most people are ready to go there. That’s why the self-driving engineers want to create a comforting sense of lasting. They think it may take 25 years before we get fully autonomous cars. But whenever it arrives, rather than seeming like a great step forward, the autonomous driving felt like just another baby step in a line of continuous progress.
That’s because the plan is a combination of human and autonomous driving. The car I experienced is designed for highway driving. If the human driver doesn’t respond in time, the autonomous driver assumes something is wrong and carefully guides the car to the shoulder. At any point, however, all the driver has to do to regain control is touch the wheel or brake (刹车).
This combination will let the autonomous car industry grow one step at a time so that society gets comfortable
with it. The earliest consumer models will probably handle only certain tasks like highway driving and parking. Humans will still be responsible for the more challenging steps like dealing with side streets. Gradually, over a period of many years, the role of the human driver will wind down.
What is the friends’ attitude towards the author’s self-driving experience
A. Favourable. B. Indifferent. C. Objective. D. Concerned.
What can be inferred from paragraph 2
The author was disappointed at the car.
The engineers express cautious optimism.
Not all the people accept self-driving cars.
The car was equipped with modern comforts.
Why does the author think autonomous driving is only a small step
It poses a threat to humans.
Human driving still matters.
The technology is imperfect.
It only targets highway drivers.
Which of the following best describes the combination of human and autonomous driving
A. Demanding. B. Challenging. C. Inspirational. D. Progressive.
C
Destructive earthquakes rock the world from time to time. Nothing can be done to prevent them from striking. The best way to ease these future disasters is to draw maps of the underworld, recording every fault and tracking its behavior.
To create those maps, researchers employ little machines that sense and record all sorts of vibrations (震动).
This work, historically, has been extremely careful and sometimes inaccurate. When Zachary Ross, an assistant geophysics professor, started in the field in the early 2010s, he sought a new way forward. “Even the best computer programs at the time missed certain earthquakes. There had to be a better way,” he says. He conducted the study in California which is so geologically active and there were more data than human experts alone could reasonably handle.
In 2017 Ross started to focus on tiny quakes. They might be harmless, but that doesn’t make them unimportant
- their waves can clarify each fault they pass through, including the more precarious, stress-loaded ones that may one day crack and set off a disaster. Ross and his colleagues set an algorithm (算法) upon the seismic (地震的) record. The algorithm quickly identified nearly two million previously hidden tiny quakes.
However, his program could only find earthquakes in the seismic record that it was taught to recognize. So Ross turned to more advanced tools: self-learning programs, software that could take preexisting information and make predictions about the future - in this case, what a vastly wider variety of earthquakes might sound like. Very quickly, these programs found all sorts of unfamiliar-sounding quakes - later confirmed by human scientists. “You just see so many things that were completely missed,” Ross says.
These AI learning programs can also be used to boost the speed and accuracy ( 精 确 度 ) of earthquake
early-warning systems - largely autonomous programs that forecast threats to life and property in the moments after an earthquake starts and send people emergency text messages before seismic waves reach them. But for all their promise, AI programs won’t replace human scientists. “They’re just tools,” Ross says - ones that in time, he suspects, will become as ordinary as seismometers (地震仪) themselves.
What inspired Ross to carry out the new study
The massive amounts of data available.
The geographical location of California.
The limitation of the traditional method.
The breakdown of the computer programs.
What does the underlined word “precarious” in paragraph 3 mean
A. unusual. B. unstable. C. inaccessible. D. incomparable.
What is the advantage of self-learning programs over Ross’ algorithm
They forecast novel earthquakes.
They helped restore hidden faults.
They could detect missing things.
They relied on previous information.
What do we know about the AI programs from the last paragraph
They give warnings in advance.
They will replace seismometers.
They outperform warning systems.
They serve as an efficiency booster.
D
Kyoto’s cherry blossoms - or sakura (樱花) - draw crowds from across the world. But this year the flowers bloomed (开花) nearly two weeks in advance.
Global warming, largely driven by fossil fuel (化石燃料), stimulated (刺激) temperatures so high in 2023 that it became the hottest year in history. Warmer springs causing earlier blooms is a phenomenon not just related to Kyoto’s famous sakuras, but something scientists are also observing elsewhere - including in Washington D.C. Although flowering times vary annually, the long-term trend shows earlier blooming in D.C. “In D.C., the advance in blooming is probably consistent with, but not scientifically credited to, human-caused climate change,” said Gonzalez, a climate change scientist. Other possible causal influences include the urban heat island effect, he noted.
That's where the research in Kyoto is critical. The city’s sakura records go back more than 1,200 years. In 2020, 2021, and 2023, Kyoto’s sakura saw record-early blooms. A 2022 study found that human-caused climate change is the primary reason, pushing that season forward by roughly 11 days.
The early onset of spring and following cherry tree blooms can result in some serious consequences that include blossoms mismatching with their pollinators ( 授 粉 者 ). And if winter continues to warm faster than summer in much of the U.S., the amount of exposure to cold weather that a tree requires in its winter period may not be met - resulting in some trees failing to flower at all in the spring. Peak bloom date may be advanced in the future. But the end result of not having any blossoms, if there's no winter, may happen sooner than we think.
Not only are cherry trees a tool for scientists to understand changing temperatures, but the trees’ flowering also represents a “very visible” historical and cultural symbol for people to celebrate the onset of spring. For those who haven’t had the opportunity to wander under a line of blooming cherry blossom trees, Gonzalez says the experience is similar to “walking through a church.”
What do we know about the earlier blooming in D.C.
It results from human activities.
It has not been clearly studied.
It has an impact on global warming.
It leads to the urban heat island effect.
What is a possible result of earlier blooming
The cherry trees will become extinct.
Winters get warm faster than summers.
There will be a shortage of pollinators.
It may bring about ecological disturbance.
What is the significance of cherry blossoms
A. Bringing spiritual comfort. B. Offering historical records.
C. Preventing extreme weather. D. Spreading cultural knowledge.
Which of the following can be the best title for the text
The cherry trees rush to an early bloom.
Scientists predict cherry trees’ bloom timing.
This year’s cherry blossom: a warning sign.
Early cherry blossom peak: a natural wonder.

Mom cried to get out quickly, but it was already too late by then. The rain was coming down so hard and so fast. 37 . We were going nowhere.
At first, I was pleased we could stay at home, but soon it got really difficult. 38 . There was water everywhere, but we couldn't drink any of it or else we'd get really sick. I just spent the days watching the boats going up and down the street and looking out for Smartie. 39 .
Living in the open air, we became breakfast, lunch and dinner for the mosquitos (蚊子). But Mom said that
whatever happens, we should always try to see the good side of things. 40 . We had lost our home and everything in it. All we had left were the clothes on our backs. But thankfully, Smartie came home just in time. As Mom kept on reminding us, we were all together and safe. Mom’s words made us feel better and gave us hope for the future.
It all happened so quickly
We were so happy to take him with us
It was difficult to stay positive, though
Our street turned into a river in seconds
He had disappeared the moment the storm hit
Now, one year has passed and I'm back home
Without a roof, staying inside was too dangerous

Last weekend, I went to Mark's new house near a forest for a little get-together. After lunch when I was chatting with him and his wife Cody, he asked me, “Hey, Thora, have you ever been to a secret spot ” Before I could even finish saying no, Cody and Mark were already at the door with their jackets on. And the next moment we were heading out into the forest with a camera, a fishing net and a plastic bucket(桶).
We walked through the forest along a path by a small river. Breathing the fresh air, we three talked and
laughed all the way.
“Hey! What are you guys doing ” someone suddenly shouted from behind. Mark and Cody's eyes immediately widened, and without a word they started running. I had no choice but to follow them, getting my shoes wet and dirty with mud. We probably ran for about 10 minutes before Mark and Cody slowed down. I stopped to catch my breath and asked, “Who was that ”
Mark replied, “The most annoying neighbor ever. There’s no telling what could happen if he caught up with us. He is always making fun of us. I dislike him.” We kept walking on for a few more minutes. Then a beautiful lake appeared before our eyes. “Wow! Amazing!” I shouted and could hardly hold back my excitement. The lake was large and the water was deep and blue, looking so peaceful with tall trees around it.
