(2025·广东江门·二模)Bill Gates recently predicted that online learning will make place-based colleges less significant, and five years from now, students will be able to find the best lectures in the world online. I applaud Mr. Gates. But what’s taking us so long
As early as 1997, MIT (麻省理工) decided to post videos of all university lectures online, for free, for all people. But today, how many students have you met who mastered advanced mathematics or nuclear physics from an MIT online video Unfortunately, the answer is not many.
The problem is the poor quality of online education websites and the experience they provide to students. Those who go to the MIT website and watch courses online are surely very smart people, but it’s not like playing a video game such as World of Warcraft. Only the most ardent students, those who are highly motivated, will devote themselves to studying these boring online videos.
The real question is why we aren’t spending more to develop better online education platforms. Where is the Avatar of education Think about this. The market for Hollywood films per year is worth around 30 billion USD.Education in the world is a trillion-dollar-a-year market, hundreds of times bigger than Hollywood movies. Yet the most expensive digital learning system ever built cost well under 100 million dollars.
Bill Gates’ prediction is going to happen. There is no doubt about it. But it will only happen when we create high level educational content and experiences that engage and excite more than has ever been possible in the real world.
27.What has Bill Gates forecast about online learning
A.It will concentrate on physics lectures.
B.It will completely replace real universities.
C.It will help to make universities more successful.
D.It will play an increasingly important role in education.
28.What does the underlined word “ardent” in Paragraph 3 mean .
A.Creative. B.Enthusiastic. C.Well-behaved. D.Experienced.
29.According to the author, what is holding back the popularity of online learning
A.The lack of lectures available online.
B.The high cost of access to the websites.
C.The low standard of educational websites.
D.The competition with online computer games.
30.Why does the author mention Hollywood
A.To show that Hollywood produces many successful movies.
B.To prove that education is more profitable than entertainment.
C.To argue that movie directors should produce educational content.
D.To urge that more money be spent developing educational websites.

Imagine you are walking through deep snow. 31 That’s what happens when using technology, such as computers, mobile phones and tablets. You leave your digital (电子的) footprint and it will never disappear.
Here are reasons why your digital footprint should matter to you.
●How people see you
Of course, you have nothing to hide, but if people get information about you, they might describe you from what you have left online. 32 Years later, it’s found by the university you want to enter, and they don’t think it’s funny. Maybe they decide you are not the “right” kind of person for them.
● Your private information
33 For example, you might share your school reports with your parents, but you’d better keep them secret to your e-fiends. If you share them on the Internet, they will not be a secret anymore. Therefore, to protect your privacy (隐私), remember to put less information online.
34
There are plenty of people looking at information about you, and some of them want to steal money from you. So you shouldn't write bank details, card numbers or passwords in emails or text messages.
Overall, the message is: 35 — but with care, you can control it.
A.Keeping your money safe.
B.For example, you make a bad joke online.
C.Not everything can be shared with everyone.
D.Remembering your card numbers or passwords.
E.As you walk, you leave footprints where you’ve been.
F.No one can go online without leaving his digital footprint.
三、短文填空
(2025·上海杨浦·一模)Have we lost the ability to focus on a single task Daniel Goleman thinks so. Here, the bestselling science writer shares e 36 that show how technology takes over our attention and weakens real-life connections.
On a ferry to a holiday island, a little girl was nervous and hugged her mother tightly. The mother, however, didn’t seem to n 37 ; she was focused on her tablet the whole time. Something similar happened a few minutes later in a shared taxi van with nine students going on a weekend trip. As soon as they sat down, everyone began checking their phones or tablets. There was little conversation, just silence.
These moments show how devices like mobile phones and tablets take our attention away from the people around us. Among all age groups, teenagers are e 38 affected. In recent years, their monthly text messages have doubled, reaching an average of 3, 417. At the same time, the time they spend on face to face conversation has become l 39 . Young people may be good with devices, but they often have trouble understanding body language or behavior in person. This can lead to embarrassing or even r 40 actions, like checking a text during a conversation without realizing it might upset someone.
Adults also face challenges in focusing. In Mexico, a person who works in advertising says people used to watch longer videos, but now they quickly lose i 41 and check their phones. Some offices have stopped using laptops and phones during meetings to help people focus. A teacher who loves movies is reading a book about a famous director. But he finds it hard to read more than two pages without wanting to check his email. He w 42 deeply that he’s losing his ability to concentrate.
Goleman suggests that by understanding these effects, we can take steps to balance technology use and rebuild meaningful connections.

Goleman suggests that by understanding these effects, we can take steps to balance technology use and rebuild meaningful connections.
