(2025·广东江门·二模)Deepfake: synthetic (合成的) media, including images, videos, and audio, is generated by AI technology to show something that does not exist or events that have never occurred.
Examples of deepfakes have been widely spread, including a video of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg giving a speech about his company’s plan, and a video of Elon Musk dancing and talking about the power of dreams, etc.
It’s easy for AI to produce such deepfakes using two different deep-learning algorithms (算法): one that creates the best possible clone based on a real image or video and another that detects whether the copy is fake (伪造的) and, if it is, reports on the differences between it and the original. The first algorithm produces a synthetic image and receives feedback on it from the second algorithm and then adjusts it to make it appear more real; the loop is repeated as many times as it takes until the second algorithm does not detect any false imagery.
Deepfakers often have evil motives, including creating misinformation and generating confusion. They tend to demean, terrify, and annoy, and have targeted not only celebrities but ordinary citizens as well.
Most of the academic research surrounding deepfakes focuses on the detection of huge amount of deepfake videos emerging online. One detection approach is to use algorithms to identify inconsistencies in deepfake videos. For example, an automatic system can examine videos for errors such as irregular blinking patterns of lighting. However, these approaches have been criticized because deepfake detection is characterized by a “moving goal post” where the production of deepfakes is changing and improving while detection tools are always on the way of catching them up.
However, education and medicine are two of the fields that may benefit from deepfake technology. In the classroom, historical speeches could be deepfaked to offer immersive and engaging lessons. In health care, it can improve the accuracy with which tumors (肿瘤) are spotted, making them easier to treat. Its use also permits using synthesized data instead of that from real patients to avoid privacy concerns.
21.What is the challenge of detecting deepfake videos
A.Ever-evolving deepfake techniques.
B.Insufficient academic basis on detection solutions.
C.A massive number of false videos online.
D.Limited availability of detection tools.
22.What is the author’s attitude toward deepfake
A.Supportive. B.Critical. C.Objective. D.Unconcerned.
23.What is probably the best title for the passage
A.Potential threats: AI’s new playground B.Deepfake: Human’s another helping hand
C.Artificial Intelligence: A piece of fake D.Detecting deepfake: An ongoing battle

(2024·北京海淀·二模)At a climate meeting, some scientists suggested giving up tree planting as a solution to climate change. To many people, this may seem shocking because they think ecosystem restoration (生态系统恢复) means planting as many trees as possible.
However, seeing ecosystem restoration as tree planting can be very dangerous because tree planting is often used as an excuse to avoid cutting carbon emissions (碳排放). In fact, if the oil and gas industry continues to increase in size, even 10 planets full of trees could not deal with the destruction that would result. At the same time, these monoculture carbon farms, where only one type of plant is grown to store carbon, are not truly the restoration of nature. They often cover landscapes with trees at the cost of the biodiversity (生物多样性) in that area or the living of the local people.
As these problems have been stressed in plenty of media articles, some environmental protection organizations, like Greenpeace, have even called for an end to all the nature-based solutions to climate change. However, nature is not the problem. Trees are not the problem. The problem is our misuse of them as a quick fix to offset carbon emissions.
To get things straight, hundreds of scientists recently joined forces to publish a related study in the journal Nature. The study shows that the recovery of natural forests has the potential (潜能) to help with 1/3 of our carbon drawdown needs in the fight against climate change. But it also shows that these climate benefits will not be achieved if we don’t cut carbon emissions. If emissions continue, then natural fires and global warming will endanger the forests that we have left.
The study also shows that the full potential of forests will not be achieved by monoculture tree plantations, which store less than half as much carbon as diverse ecosystems do. Most of the forest potential can be achieved by protecting and managing the ecosystems that we have left, allowing them to recover. The rest can be achieved by encouraging local communities to take active steps to strengthen biodiversity in areas where the ecosystem has been destroyed.
While the diverse ecosystem positively influences the climate, its benefits for local people are far more important. The real value of ecosystem restoration lies in the rich biodiversity supporting local living. By protecting nature, people get what they need for living in return. As a Zambian farmer put it, “no trees, no bees; no honey, no money”. When natural biodiversity becomes a practical choice for local people, that is when we get the long-term climate benefits of nature as a wonderful byproduct.
27.The second paragraph is mainly about ________.
A.the problems of misunderstanding ecosystem restoration
B.the methods of cutting down greenhouse gas emissions
C.the importance of the biodiversity for the local people
D.the purpose of developing monoculture carbon farms
28.The word “offset” in Paragraph 3 probably means “________.”
A.put off B.add to C.speed up D.balance out
29.What can we learn from the study published in the journal Nature
A.Natural forest recovery can meet most carbon drawdown needs.
B.Local communities are expected to play a role in ecosystem restoration.
C.Protecting the remaining ecosystems takes more time than planting trees.
D.Monoculture carbon farms work better than natural forests in storing carbon.
30.The writer probably agrees that ________.
A.people get what they need for living in return by protecting nature
B.it makes no sense to stop monoculture tree planting for climate benefits
C.people should put an end to nature-based solutions for restoring ecosystem
D.developing monoculture carbon farms can improve the living of the local people

(2024·吉林长春·模拟预测)This spring, the most eye-catching movie might be YOLO (《热辣滚烫》) By March 18th, it had made around 3.5 billion yuan at the box office, reported Paper.
Directed by 41-year-old Jia Ling, the movie tells the story of a woman tired of the world, finding herself and learning to love life through boxing (拳击). The name of YOLO is short for the movie’s main idea—you only live once.
Jia Ling has tried many different roles in her life, including crosstalk (相声) and sketch (小品), variety show (综艺节目) guest and actress. The movie Hi, Mom (《你好,李焕英》) is the first one Jia directed in her life.
Jia didn’t study directing at university. It makes her feel freer in film making because she doesn’t need to follow a fixed style. To everyone’s surprise, Hi, Mom 2019 made her the world’s highest-grossing (票房最高的) woman director before 2023.
Before making YOLO, Jia was often seen as an overweight comedian (喜剧演员). She often made jokes about herself to make people laugh. For this movie, Jia lost more than 50kg which made it hard to imagine that this is the same Jia we once knew. Some people online said even her voice became softer, and they called this a “rebirth” for Jia. She has proved through her actions that if you want to be successful, you need to try your best.
In Jia’s eyes, her change in identity (身份) and look is her way of saying true to herself. “It’s hard to predict one’s life. I’m just following my heart but not looking for changes in purpose. Movies are now the best way to show myself, so I put all my energy into them.” Jia told Xinhua.
“In fact, Jia didn’t change. She’s just being more herself. She shows us through her actions.” said talk show host Chen Luyu.

42.When did Jia Ting become a director for the first time
43.Was Jia Ling the world’s highest-grossing director before 2023
44.How much weight did Jia lose for the movie
