3.Text Analysis:
This passage is about Tangshan earthquake happened on July 28,1976. The passage can be divided into three parts. The first part is about some strange things that happened before the earthquake. The second part is about the damage caused by the earthquake. The third part is about all help that was given to Tangshan after the earthquake. From the passage, students will know clearly about the predictions before an earthquake. At the same time, teachers can guide them to think how to keep them safe from an earthquake and when the earthquake happen how to give help to the sufferers, so that they can set up their right attitudes toward life.

1. To get basic knowledge about natural disasters.
2. To know the signs, damage, rescue and recovery about the Tangshan earthquake.

1. To understand the passage in detail by using different reading skills.

4.Student Analysis:
They are grade 1 high school students, and this class is one of the five top classes. Most of them have some interest in English, but only a part of them are good at it. Many of the students haven’t laid a good foundation in their middle schools. So, we first need to arouse their interest, and start from easy parts. That we make them be more confident is very important.
