How do you feel when your teacher asks you to work on a group project with other students
Do you like to work with others or work alone
An organization carried out a survey on students' abilities to work together in groups. They
found that students who did well in tests by themselves were also likely to be better at working with
other people.
This finding is true for many countries. In Japan, the Republic of Korea, Finland and Canada,
the students whose test scores are high, also do well in working together to solve problems. But this
is not true for every country. Chinese students who tend (趋向) to have high scores as well just show
average collaborative (合作的) skills. “One reason might be that Chinese parents and teachers focus
on scores too much,” said Zhao Zhongxin, former vice president of the Chinese Family Education
Association. “Students have plenty of pressure from exams and they regard school as a place for
competition.” “However, collaborative skills are very important for today's society,” he added.
“Luckily, more Chinese parents and teachers are realizing the importance of collaborative skills and
are thinking of ways to help students to improve these skills.”
Another interesting finding is that girls tend to be better than boys at working together. They
said that girls were more willing to listen to others' opinions.
The organization also found that classroom might influence how well students collaborated. In
class there are lots of activities that require communication, and students tend to have better attitudes
(态度) towards collaborating.
( )39.How does the writer introduce the topic of the passage
A.By explaining the meaning.
B.By listing some facts.
C.By asking some questions.
( )40.What does the underlined phrase “focus on” probably mean
A.center on B.hear about C.leave out
( )41.How many findings are mentioned in the survey
A.Two. B.Three. C.Four.
( )42.What can we do to improve students' collaborative skills according to the passage
A.Help them get high scores in tests.
B.Help them deal with pressure from exams.
C.Make them join in more communicative activities.
( )43.What's the purpose of this passage
A.To show us a survey on students' collaborative skills.
B.To call on us to practice collaborative skills.
C.To tell us how to help students get high scores in exams.

A few days later, Plato asked Socrates what happiness was. Socrates told his student to go
across the field again and pick the most beautiful flower this time.
47 He said with a smile, “When I walked across the field, I saw this flower and picked it.

Have you visited any traditional Chinese gardens If you compare them with some Western
gardens, you may find that Chinese gardens look more like natural landscape (风景).
Chinese gardens have a long history. As early as 1,500 years ago, there were two main types of
gardens: imperial (皇帝的)gardens and private gardens. Imperial gardens were for the use of the
emperor and his family. And private gardens were built by general nobles (贵族).
The Summer Palace in Beijing is China's most famous imperial garden. It covers about three
million square meters. The Kunming Lake takes up almost three fourths of the garden's total area.
There are over 3,000 ancient buildings and more than 400,000 plants in the garden. You can also see
over 40,000 priceless historical relics from each dynasty. With such a rich collection, the garden is
known as the “Imperial Garden Museum”.
As for private gardens, the most famous one is the Humble Administrator's Garden in Suzhou.
It is only 41,000 square meters. It is quite small, but it's beautiful and delicate (精致的). When you
stand in the garden, it looks like a beautiful picture.
The traditional Chinese gardens have been designed very well. Mountains and waters, trees and
flowers, houses and towers don't look crowded together at all. In fact, Chinese gardens are properly
fixed up in some ways, like traditional Chinese landscape paintings. Both of them reflect that nature
is important in Chinese culture.

When I was at school, our teacher told the class, “You are what you eat.” In fact, our teacher
was trying to show us the importance of eating the right food.
Why should we eat well
Every cell (细胞) in our body has a “shelf life” —a stomach cell lives about a day or two, a skin
cell about a month, and a red blood cell about four months. So, every day, our body is busy making
new cells to renew those that have stopped working. And how healthy those new cells are depends
on how well we eat. A complete eating plan can help cells work better so that we can stay healthy.
How could we eat well
Chart Ⅰ
Studies have shown daily diet (日常饮食) has the biggest influence on our health.
Tip 1:Start eating clean food
To start eating clean food, you can choose food that is less processed and as direct from nature
as possible like cabbage and strawberries. The key is to start little by little. For example, try eating
more vegetables than you normally do this week. Eat some nuts as a snack instead of potato chips.
Some people like snacks that are rich in sugar. But too much sugar is bad for our health.
Tip 2:Cook as often as you can
Cooking is one of the easiest ways to start eating better! Cooking at home not only helps us to
control what to eat, but let us choose how to cook the food more healthily.
Some popular eating habits
Chart Ⅱ
Tip 3: ▲
People who eat with others, are more likely to eat well than those who eat alone. This is
because meals with others usually include more food which are good for you. And at the same time,
you can build better relationships. Maybe it can be a little hard, but remember, you are what you eat.
So, choose the right food. Healthy food leads to a healthy body.

书面表达
One Possible Version:
Our school did a survey among 1,600 students about the meaning of courage. Here are the
results. 37 percent of the students think courage means being brave, and 28 percent agree that it
means challenging themselves. 23 percent consider courage as making right choices. The other 12
percent of students think courage have other meanings.
As for me, courage means making right choices because we need to tell what is right and what
is wrong and sometimes it's hard to decide that. When I was in primary school, I often studied with
my best friend Ma Li. The other day, we had lots of homework and that made her really mad. She
asked me if she could copy my homework. I knew it wasn't good, but I was afraid if I refused her, I
would lose my best friend. So I helped her make a plan and had a competition with her. This way,
she finished homework all by herself. I was very happy, because I had courage to make a right
choice and to stop something wrong happening.
