as far as I know 是一个固定的表达方式,还可以说so far as I know,意思是“据我所知”。

3.1,025 meters deep
(1)meter(美式英语)用作可数名词,意为“米;公尺”,英式英语拼写为metre。

(2)deep用作形容词,意为“深的;纵深的”。“某物深度”的表达方式为:基数词+表示“度量”的名词+deep。

live up to意为“活到……”。其中up to意为“到达(某数量、程度等);至多有;不多于”。

3.weighs 5,000 kilos
weigh此处用作连系动词,意为“重量是……”。对重量提问常用How much do/does/did...weigh 或How heavy...

3.辨析awake与wake
(1)awake作形容词,意为“醒着的”,通常作表语。其反义词为asleep。?
e.g.:Is he asleep or awake 他睡着了还是醒着的??
The boy is awake.那男孩醒了。?
(2)wake作动词,意为“醒来;唤醒;弄醒”。常用结构:sb. wake(s) up某人醒来;wake sb. up唤醒某人。?
e.g.:The noise woke me up.噪音把我吵醒了。?
I wake up at half past six every morning.每天早上六点半我就醒了。
4.Another 700 or so live in zoos or research centers in China and other countries.在中国和其他国家的动物园或研究中心生活着另外700只左右的大熊猫。(教材第54页)
(1)another意为“另一;又一”,常放在数词之前;而other表示“另一”时,则放在数词之后。another+基数词+名词=基数词+other+名词。
e.g.:We stayed there for another three days.
=We stayed there for three other days.我们在那儿又待了三天。
(2)or so意为“大约”,位于数词或者表示时间的名词之后,相当于about 或around,但about 或around表示“大约”时,常放在数词或者表示时间的名词之前。
e.g.:It took them three years or so to build this road.=It took them about/around three years to build this road.修这条路花费了他们大约三年的时间。
5.辨析die of与die from
“die of”和“die from”都是“死于……”的意思。若死因存在于人体之上或之内(主要指疾病、衰老等自身的原因),一般用介词of,如:die of illness (heart trouble,cancer,a fever,etc.) 死于疾病 (心脏病,癌症,发烧等)。若死因不是存在人体之内或之上,而是由环境造成的(主要指事故等方面的外部原因),一般用介词from,如:die from an earthquake (a traffic accident,a lightning stroke,etc.)死于地震(交通事故,雷击等)。若死因是环境影响到体内,即两方面共有的原因,则用of,from 均可,如:die of a drink (a wound,overwork,starvation,hunger and cold,etc.) 死于饮酒(受伤,劳累过度,饥饿,饥寒等)。但是在实际运用中,两者混用的情况较多。
