History and Facts
From 1405 to 1433, Zheng He went on seven trips and
visited South-East Asia, the Middle East and even the east
coast of Africa.

Christopher Columbus (1451-1506) made four voyages across the Atlantic Ocean from Spain: in 1492, 1493, 1498 and 1502. He was determined to find a direct water route west from Europe to Asia, but he never did. Instead, he accidentally discovered the Americas.
Vasco da Gama (1460-1524) sailed from Lisbon in 1497 on a mission to reach India and open a sea route from Western Europe to the east by way of the Cape of Good Hope(好望角).

Ferdinand Magellan (1480-1521) sailed west from Spain in 1519 across the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and discovered a route by which ships could sail a complete circle around the world. The Straits of Magellan (麦哲伦海峡).
Marco Polo
A well-known traveler and explorer, Marco Polo headed for China along the Silk Road in the Yuan Dynasty (1271–1368). The Travels of Marco Polo, written by him, described Chinese politics, economy, and culture in detail, which greatly aroused the desire of westerner to go to China .
From 1405 to 1433, Zheng He went on seven trips and visited South-East Asia, the Middle East and even the east coast of Africa.
