Will robots do housework for us
Are you tired of doing housework Here is good news for you.
A robot named AR has been developed (开发) in Japan. The robot is 155 cm tall and weighs 130 kg. It moves around on wheels. The robot is able to clean up rooms, put away dishes from a dining table and pick up shirts and put them in a washing machine(机器). It can also move things in order to sweep the floor.
The robot is different from the old ones. It can tell the differences between solid objects and soft things. It is also able to learn from failures and change its behavior patterns (模式).
Now AR’s movements are not perfect, but it is believed that after more improvements (改善), it will become people’s real housework helper in the future.

Robot boy Zeno
The robot boy is Zeno. It has the same name as the human boy.
It took a group of roboticists (机器人专家) at a U.S. company five years to create Zeno. Its face is made of a special skin-like material(材料). Its blinking eyes can track(跟踪) people moving about and its face can show different kinds of expressions.
Roboticist Hanson says the big progress of the robot Zeno is that its brains aren’t inside the robot. A PC nearby tells it how to smile, act or show anger.
Hanson’s dream is to make Zeno an intelligent robot, not a robot toy. It will become children’s learning friend. It will be able to talk with people and show their feelings.
“It sees you and recognizes your face. It learns your name and can build a relationship with you.”
Hanson admits it will be a long time before his dream comes true, but he believes there will be more need for lifelike robots.
