Feeling embarrassed,I whispered(低声说)with a bright red face,“Oh,it was nothing.” But right away she said,“You’re wrong, Jake. I get so mixed up when I work with these new computers. I've had such a wonderful expert right here in my classroom, and I didn't even know it! From now on you’re going to be my special computer helper!” But the worst part hadn't happened yet. Mrs. Brown walked to the front of the room and said, “Class, if any of you has trouble with the computers during math time later, just ask Jake what to do.
I felt confident when hearing Mrs. Brown ask me to help the whole class. I made up my mind to be a real expert on computer like the one she said. So every afternoon after class, I spent half an hour in the library in searching for information about computer, and when I met something that I couldn’t deal with, I would turn to Mrs. Reed for help. Three weeks later, when we had a computer class again, I volunteered to help other students who met problems. Thanks to Mrs. Brown, I have developed a great interest in computer.

It was January in Kansas. The snowstorm hit, cutting off our power. So, though it was around noon, we were put into darkness. No television, no heat, no light. This was back in the days when people had only radios to listen to.
Granddad Charlie gathered up his winter coat, scarf, and gloves, and disappeared into the snow. A few minutes later, he returned, with wood under his arms. Looking at my brother and me, he said. “Come on, boys. Time to build a fire.”
But the curiosity for the fire wasn't enough to keep the attention of a 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old boy, and we were soon annoying Grandpa repeatedly as to what was next. “There's no TV, Grandpa,” I complained, “What are we going to do ”
“Let's go camping.” Grandpa answered,

Checkers was soon followed up with hangman. Afterward, Grandpa found his old, weathered guitar and sang us some campfire songs, the words to which my brother and I did not know but to which we sang along.
And right then, something terrible happened. The power came back on.

Global warming is one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time. It refers to the long-term rise in the average temperature of the Earth's climate system, primarily due to human activities such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation. As the climate warms, it leads to a variety of environmental impacts including the melting of ice caps, rising sea levels, and extreme weather events.
One significant consequence of global warming is the melting of glacier ice. This not only causes sea levels to rise but also threatens coastal communities with flooding and erosion(侵蚀,腐蚀). For instance, islands in the Pacific Ocean are already experiencing the effects as their land slowly disappears beneath the waves.
Moreover, global warming is responsible for more frequent and severe weather events. Increased temperatures can lead to more intense storms, floods, and droughts, disrupting ecosystems and human societies. In the United States, hurricanes have become more powerful with greater rainfall, leading to significant damage and loss of life.
Addressing global warming requires international cooperation and individual efforts. Countries worldwide need to work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and develop sustainable energy sources. Meanwhile, individuals can make a difference by reducing energy consumption, supporting green initiatives, and raising awareness about climate issues.
To combat global warming effectively, it's essential for everyone to acknowledge the problem and take action before it's too late.
28. Which causes the global warming in the article
A. Deforestation and burning fossil fuels. B. Much use of chemicals in agriculture.
C. Nuclear energy production. D. Overfishing in the oceans.
29. What is one effect of glacier melting mentioned in the passage
A. Rise-in agricultural productivity. B. Creation of new land habitats.
C. Threats to coastal communities. D. Decrease in desert areas.
30. How has global warming affected weather patterns
A. It has made winters milder.
B. It has made summers cooler.
C. Bad weather events happened more often.
D. It has decreased the number of sunny days.
31. What action is suggested in the article as part of addressing global warming
A. Relocating coastal residents. B. Constructing more sea barriers.
C. Increasing nuclear energy production. D. Developing sustainable energy sources.
D
In most cases, people pick the easiest way out: the path of least resistance(阻力). Yet, it is the hard choice—the path of most resistance—that is more beneficial and provides most success in the long run. How do these paths differ What are the dangers of an easy life What are the rewards for a hard life
Taking the path of least resistance means choosing the easiest available option, without thinking about its long-term consequences. For example, you eat whatever and whenever you like. It may feel nice at first but they have a very high price — guaranteed obesity (肥胖). Most people in modern world follow this path, and this is why so many people struggle without self-control, good habits, etc.
The path of most resistance is about choosing the option that will lead to more personal growth, even if it means suffering in the early stage. For example, it may cost you a lot to quit watching TV for hours. But over the long term, you’ll free up a lot of time that will lead to a more satisfying lite than that of a couch potato. At first sight, this way is unattractive. It requires effort and loss of pleasure, and leads to potential suffering. Yet, on the other side of all that lies a world of more confidence and self-control. In the end, they more than make up for the passing shallow pleasures.
We’re lazy by nature. Some may point out that because of this laziness that we now enjoy so many wonders of technology that people in the past would kill to have. But ask the same individuals praising laziness if they would be happy living a life where everything is given to them the moment they think about it. They would have zero difficulties, no aims in life and no obstacle to get over and no wise human would want such an existence.
32. How does the author show the dangers of choosing the easy path
A. By asking questions. B. By giving examples.
C. By giving explanations. D. By making a comparison.
33. What does the underlined word “it” in paragraph 3 refer to
A. Watching TV for hours. B. Getting shallow pleasures.
C. Having many life struggles. D. Choosing the path of most resistance.
34 Which of the following would the author agree with
A. Life is to be enjoyed, not suffered.
B. There should be some challenges in life.
C. Set your life goals as early as possible.
D. Good habits provide short-term pleasures.
35. What is the author’s purpose in writing the text
A. To tell us humans are lazy by nature.
B. To encourage us to take the hard path of life.
C. To prove that laziness leads to wonders in life.
D. To show the common lifestyles of young people.

第二节 (满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写词数应为150左右
When I was in third grade, we got five new computers in our classroom. Mrs.Brown was my third-grade teacher, and she acted like computers were scary, especially the new ones. She always needed to look at a how-to book and the computer at the same time. Even then, she got mixed up a lot. Then she had to call Mrs. Reed, the librarian, to come and show her what to do.
It was a Monday morning in May, and Mrs. Brown was sitting in front of a new computer in the back of the room. She was confused about a program we were supposed to use for a math project. My desk was near the computers, and I was watching her.
Mrs. Brown looked at the screen, and then she looked at this book, and then back at the screen again. Then she shook her head and let out a deep sigh(叹气).I could tell she was almost ready to call Mrs. Reed.
In fact, I was not good at using computers, either. But I knew how to turn them on and open programs, play games and type-simple things like that. So I got up from my desk, pointed at the screen, and said, “Mrs. Brown, if you double-click on that little ting right there, then the program will star running. And then you click on this, and that opens up the part about number lines.”
So Mrs. Brown did what I told her and the program started running. Because that's the way it works and anybody knows that except Mrs. Brown. When the program started playing the music, Mrs. Brown smiled a huge smile at me and said, "Jake, you're wonderful!" And she said it so loud that every kid in the classroom stopped and turned to look at us, just in time to see Mrs. Brown pat(拍)me on the top of my head.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Feeling embarrassed,I whispered(低声说)with a bright red face, “Oh, it was nothing”.
