With the global population increasing, the demand for meat is putting pressure on the environment. To tackle this issue, artificial meat, also known as cultured meat, is emerging as a sustainable alternative. In recent years, Chinese scientists have made significant progress in this field, combining cutting-edge biotechnology with traditional food science.
At the core of artificial meat production is cellular agriculture, a process that grows animal cells in a controlled environment. In one groundbreaking experiment conducted by researchers at Nanjing Agricultural University, muscle stem cells were extracted from a pig. These cells were then placed in a nutrient-rich solution (溶液) designed to mimic the environment inside an animal's body, matching the conditions needed for the cells to grow.Over several weeks, the cells multiplied and formed muscle fibers, resulting in a small piece of lab-grown meat.
The research team faced several challenges during the process. For example, they had to adjust the nutrient solution to ensure the cells grew efficiently. Additionally, they experimented with different bioreactor designs to create the right texture and taste for the meat. After months of trial and error, the team successfully produced a piece of pork that closely resembled traditional meat in both flavor and appearance.
To test its quality, the artificial meat was cooked and tasted by a group of volunteers. The results were promising: most participants could not distinguish it from conventional meat. This breakthrough could reduce greenhouse gas emissions and land use associated with traditional meat production.
However, artificial meat still has hurdles to overcome, such as high production costs and public acceptance. Despite these challenges, China's achievements in artificial meat technology are paving the way for a more sustainable future.
28. What is the main purpose of producing artificial meat
A. To provide a cheaper alternative.
B. To develop meat with better taste.
C. To address environmental problems.
D. To promote biotechnology innovations.

C. Achieving proper meat features. D. Measuring cell growth efficiency.
30. What can be inferred about the future of artificial meat

B. It may take time to gain widespread approval.
C. China will lead the global market in this field.
D. High production costs will no longer be an issue.
31. Which of the following is the best title for the text

C. Green Benefits of Lab-Grown Meat
D. Challenges Posed by Artificial Meat

From immersive videos that spotlight lesser-known destinations to packing and transport advice, offering a wide range of authentic and diverse content, the social platform TikTok has become a vital source of knowledge and inspiration when it comes to exploring the world.
TikTok was launched in 2016 and has since grown an audience exceeding one billion monthly active users. Its snappy format—— short, shareable videos—— and addictive algorithm (算法) has proved particularly popular among younger people, with 70% of its users aged under 34. More than 60% of Gen Z Americans have used TikTok as a search engine. The app has seen a410%increase in travel content views since 2021. Many destinations have fallen victim to their own success. Some businesses have been fighting back, including Dae, a cafe in New York, which introduced a no-video policy last year, stating:“The TikToks ... have gotten a bit out of control for us.” There's also the issue of the promotion of unethical tourism. When Dr.Natara Loose, an American vet, visited Mauritius this year, she says she was“shocked by the number of boats selling tours to swim with dolphins, a practice that's illegal in Mauriti us but that's splashed all over TikTok.”
For better or worse, it's clear the platform's influence on travel is enormous, particularly among younger generations and it isn't going anywhere any time soon.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Judy had always dreamed of becoming a supermodel, just like her idol Liu Wen, the world-famous Chinese supermodel. From practicing her walk for hours in front of a mirror to imitating Liu Wen's poses in fashion magazines, Judy had devoted herself wholeheartedly to chasing her dream. What she admired most about Liu Wen was her professionalism—— the way she carried herself on and off the runway (走秀台), showing the world that modeling was more than just beauty; it was an art.
However, her father, Mr. Bennett, had a deep prejudice against the modeling industry.“Modeling isn't a real career,” he would often say. “It's unstable, unhealthy, and full of shallow values.” For him, a good life meant attending university, finding a stable job, and eventually settling down with a family. He also feared Judy would damage her health to maintain a certain figure or face judgment in what he believed to be a chaotic and competitive industry.
Judy tried to explain her passion, but their conversations always ended in frustration.“I don't want a predictable life like everyone else,” she once said, “I want to live a life as bright as fireworks.” She even pointed out how Liu Wen's professionalism had enhanced the image of models worldwide, proving that it was a career that required skill, discipline, and dedication. Yet her words didn't change her father's mind. Over time, their arguments turned into silence, leaving a growing distance between them.
One evening, as Mr. Bennett sat in front of the TV, he unknowingly stumbled upon a live broadcast of Paris Fashion Week. What happened next completely changed his perspective.
