It is a fact that people die every moment of every day. However, the deaths of some famous people can be especially shocking and heartbreaking---even to those of us who don't know them personally.
On Jan 26, Kobe Bryant, one of the most legendary NBA players in history, died in a terrible accident. He was 41 years old when he was travelling in his helicopter, killing him and eight others, including his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant.

Off the court, Bryant was known as a successful businessman, an Oscar-winning filmmaker, and a proud father of four daughters.

"Whatever has happened, Anne " asked Marilla.
"Mrs Barry says that I sent Diana home drunk on Saturday. She says she's never, ever going to let Diana play with me again!"
Marilla went to the cupboard and then came back to the kitchen with a bottle of wine(葡萄酒), trying not to smile.
"Anne, you gave Diana wine instead of raspberry(山莓)juice. Didn't you know the difference "
"I never tasted it, "said Anne. "But Mrs Barry will never believe me. And now I'll never be able to play with Diana again!"
One evening, Anne was at home doing her homework. She was now top of the class. Matthew was at home, but Marilla had gone to town with the Barrys and Mr Lynde. Suddenly, Anne looked up and saw Diana standing at the door. She looked very worried.
"What is the matter, Diana " cried Anne.
"Oh, Anne, do come quick, "said Diana nervously. "Minnie May is very sick. Father and Mother are away in town and there's nobody to go for the doctor. "
Matthew quietly got his cap and coat and went for the doctor. The two little girls ran to Diana's house hand in hand. Minnie May was Diana's three-year-old sister. She was very sick. Anne saw her and immediately went to work. She had looked after many children before and knew what to do.
"First we must have lots of hot water. Put the fire on. I'm going to give her some medicine. "Minnie May did not like the medicine, but Anne did not give up.
All night, Diana and Anne stayed with Minnie May. It was three o'clock when Matthew came with the doctor.

"Mrs Barry was here this afternoon, Anne. She says you saved Minnie May's life, and she is very sorry she acted as she did about the wine. She says she is happy for you to play with Diana again. "

Are you shy If you are you are not alone. In fact, close to 50 percent of people are shy. Almost 80 percent of people feel shy at some point in their lives. These days shyness is becoming more and more common. Now scientists are trying to understand shyness. They have some interesting ideas about why people are shy.
Is it possible to be born shy Many scientists say yes. They say 15 to 20 percent of babies behave shyly. These babies are a little quieter and more watchful than other babies. Interestingly these shy babies usually have shy parents. As a result scientists think that some shyness is genetic.
Family size might cause people to be shy as well. Scientists at Harvard University studied shy children.
They found that 66 percent of them had older brothers and sisters. As a result they became shy. At the same time children with no brothers and sisters may be shy as well. Growing up alone they often play by them- selves. They are not able to learn the same social skills as children from big families.
You may also be shy because of where you were born. When scientists studied shyness in different countries. They found surprising differences. In Japan most people said they were shy. But in Israel only one of three people said so. What explains the difference One scientist says the Japanese and Israelis have different opinions of failure. In Japan when people do not succeed they feel bad about themselves. They blame (责备) themselves for their failure. In Israel the opposite is true. Israelis often blame failure on outside reasons such as family teachers friends or bad luck. In Israel freedom of opinion and risk taking are strongly supported. This may be why Israelis worry less about failure and are less shy.
For shy people it can be difficult to make friends speak in class and even get a good job. But scientists say you can get over your shyness. They suggest trying new things and practicing conversation. And don’t forget — if you are shy you are not the only one.
32. What is the passage mainly about
A. Happiness. B. Shyness. C. Kindness. D. Loneliness.
33. What can be learned from the passage
A. Most little babies are born shy and quiet.
B. If you are shy now you will be shy forever.
C. Many shy children have older brothers and sisters.
D. Most Israeli people are shy of expressing opinions.
34. We can learn from the passage that ______ may cause shyness.
A. genetics grownups and birthplace B. genetics family size and birthplace
C. family size grownups and failure D. genetics family size and freedom
35. Scientists suggest that shy people can get over the shyness by ______.

It is a fact that people die every moment of every day. However, the deaths of some famous people can be especially shocking and heartbreaking---even to those of us who don't know them personally.

Off the court, Bryant was known as a successful businessman, an Oscar-winning filmmaker, and a proud father of four daughters.

C. Many shy children have older brothers and sisters.

Good morning, everyone! I'm Tom from Sunshine Middle School.Today I am very happy to be here to give you a speech about how to be a good teenager.
Above all, to be a good teenager, behaving politely is very important. For example, when you are in a queue, you must be polite enough to wait for your turn. It is necessary for you to be helpful, too. Helping others is a good habit.
Next ,you must listen carefully in class. As a good teenager, you must be good at studying. It is nice of you to work hard and listen carefully to teachers.
Third ,you can enjoy yourselves by reading books and doing some voluntary work when you are free. Reading books can improve your knowledge. Doing some voluntary work can make you feel happy. It’s really nice to help others.
Last but not least, please stay away from computer games. Playing too many computer games does harm to your health. Moreover, it’s also bad for your eyes!
That's all. Thanks for listening!
