(2)happen
①[不及物动词]发生
与go on (意为“发生”
时)同义。一般指偶然发生,其主语常为事,而不能是人。常用于下列结构: a. Sth.+ happen (s)to sb.某人发生了某事。
A traffic accident happened to his elder brother yesterday.
昨天他哥哥发生了一起交通事故。
b. Sth.+ happen (s)+地点/时间.某地/某时发生
An accident happened on Park Street.帕克街上发生了一起事故。
注意 take place 也可表示“发生”，
但一般指事件是因为某种原因或事先的安排而发生的,不是偶然发生的。

②[动词]碰巧常用于下列结构:
a. Sb.+ happen( s) to do sth.某人碰巧做某事。
I happened to see my uncle on the street.我碰巧在街上遇见了我叔叔。
b. It happens + that 从句. 碰巧……可与Sb.happen(s ) to do sth.转换。
