阅读微技能:利用前缀猜测词义 (Using prefixes to guess the meanings of words)
在阅读英语文章时,我们容易对文章里面出现的生词感到困惑。对于阻碍我们阅读理解的生词,我们可以利用构词法的知识来猜测词义,比如一些较常见的前缀:表示否定含义的前缀(un-,in-,im-,il-,ir- ), 表示“在……之前”(pre-),表示反义(dis-),表示错误的(mis-),表示再一次(re-),前缀往往表示特定的含义,把握住这一点可起到“以不变应万变”的效果,提高我们阅读的速度和质量。

一、动词不定式的意义和构成
动词不定式(infinitive)短语整体上在句中起名词、形容词和副词的作用,可以充当除谓语以外的其他任何成分。
动词不定式一般是由“to + 动词原形”构成。
肯定形式:to do sth.
否定形式:not to do sth.
这里的to是动词不定式的符号,不作介词使用,有些情况下可以省略。动词不定式中词尾从不以-ed或-ing结尾。

二、动词不定式基础用法梳理
请阅读下面关于动词不定式的用法,然后整理成思维导图。
1.作动词的宾语。例句:
I want to take a walk.我想去散步。
常跟动词不定式to do作宾语的动词:
口诀:需要拒绝莫忘记 need, refuse, forget
想要学习就努力 want, would like, learn, try
希望帮助并同意 hope∕wish∕expect, help, agree∕promise
喜欢决定后始计 like, decide, begin∕start, plan
注意:
有些动词后面接不定式作宾语表示动作尚未发生,接动名词作宾语表示动作已经发生。
如:remember, forget, stop, try, mean等。
例句:
I remember locking the door.我记得锁了门。(动作已经发生)
Please remember to lock the door when you leave.你离开的时候请记得锁门。(动作还没有发生)
2.作主语。例句:
To see is to believe.眼见为实。
注意:
不定式作主语时,如果谓语部分是系表结构,作主语的不定式往往放到表语之后,主语空出的位置用不代表实际意义的代词it来填充,这个it叫作形式主语。如:
It is interesting to play with pets.与宠物玩很有趣。(to play with pets是真正的主语)
It’s nice to meet you.见到你很高兴。(to meet you是真正的
主语)
3.作宾语补足语
英语里含有宾语补足语的句子相当于汉语里的兼语式句型,如:妈妈叫我做饭。“我”是“叫”的宾语,同时又是“做”的主语,英语的宾语补足语就是这个句子中的“做饭”。
这种结构的常见动词有advise, ask, allow, expect, encourage, force, permit, order, persuade, request, tell, want, wish 等。但不定式在下列这些词后面作宾补时,不定式符号要去掉:感官动词:
see, watch, notice, look at, hear;使役动词:make, let, have
(使得), help(可带to, 也可不带to)。
例句:
Mother told me to cook the meal.妈妈叫我做饭。
I won’t let you do that.我不会让你做那件事的。
注意:
其他省略不定式符号to的情况:在had better, had best, would rather…than, would sooner, do nothing but等词组后省略to。
例句:
I can do nothing but wait for Mum.我只能等妈妈。
You had better not go.你最好别去。
4.作状语
不定式作状语一般表示目的、原因和结果。
例句:
Let’s stop to have a rest.让我们停下来休息一会儿。(表目的)
We are proud to be Chinese.我们为自己是中国人而感到自豪。(表原因)
He woke up to find no one was there.他醒来发现一个人都不在那里了。(表结果)
5.作定语
Would you like something to eat 你要吃点什么吗
He said he found a chair to sit on.他说他找到了一张椅子来坐。
6.带特殊疑问词的不定式
不定式可以和疑问词who, what, which, when, how, where等连用,构成不定式短语,在句中作主语、宾语和表语等。
How to get there is not decided yet.怎么去那里还没定下来。
(作主语)
I don’t know what to say.我不知道该说些什么。(作宾语)
