1.定义:过去进行时主要表示过去某个时刻或某一阶段正在进行的
动作。
2.时间标志词:then,at that time/moment,yesterday,last night…

肯定句: 主语+ was/were +v.-ing+其他.
否定句: 主语+was/were + not +v.-ing+其他.

否定回答:No,主语(代词)+wasn’t/weren’t.
特殊疑问句:特殊疑问词(what/when/where/why等)+一般疑问句
4.基本用法:
(1)表示过去某个时刻或某个时间段正在发生的动作,如:
At midnight,everyone at the party was still having fun.
午夜时分,派对上的每个人都还在玩乐。
(2)过去进行时表将来,如:
I was leaving Washington that day.我那天要离开华盛顿。
5.常用句型:
(1)一般过去时/过去进行时+while+过去进行时
while表示“当……的时候”时,后面的动词一般采用延续性动词的
进行时态;如果主要动作都是延续的或同时发生的,那么主从句的动
词都可以用过去进行时。如:
While I was studying,my friends were playing.
当我在学习时,我的朋友们在玩。
My parents arrived while I was running.
当我在跑步时,我父母到了。
(2)一般过去时/过去进行时+when+一般过去时/过去进行时
when表示“当……的时候”时,后面的动词一般采用短暂性动词的一般过去时。如:
She was working when the fire alarm rang.
火灾警报响起时,她正在工作。
when/while的搭配情况通常是when + 短暂性动作 (一般过去时),
while + 持续性动作 (过去进行时)。以下表为例:
I was walking past the car when it exploded.
When the car exploded I was walking past it.
The car exploded while I was walking past it.
While I was walking past the car it exploded.
【过去进行时与一般过去时的区别】
1.过去进行时:过去某时正在进行的动作,强调了过去动作的持续
性。如:
I was doing my homework last night.(强调做作业时间的持续性)
2.一般过去时:一个完成的动作,强调动作的结束,侧重事实。如:
I did my homework last night.(强调做了作业,时长未知)
