I. Analysis of the teaching material
The material is base ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )d on High School Curriculum Standards for English Selected VII. This topic has something with the students school life, and it plays a very important part in the English teaching of this module. If the Ss can learn it well, it will be helpful to make the Ss learn the rest of this module. As we all know, reading ability is very important for the Ss. so, we should develop it step by step. Of course, we should let the Ss receive some moral education.
II. Analysis of the students
(I) Ability level
Many students have kn ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )own some reading skills. But they don't really master them. In this lesson, I want to develop the ability of understanding the main idea. So it is necessary to create opportunities for students’ improvement in reading comprehension.
(II) Level of knowledge
Although students know something about American senior high school life, their vocabulary is still limited. Learning in a real environment will overcome the drawbacks of abstract knowledge. Thus, students can understand better and learn grammar and vocabulary more effectively.
(III) Psychological characteristics
Our students do have a desire for self-expression, but they are afraid of being laughed at, so we are supposed to encourage them to participate in class activities, and help lay the foundation for lifelong learning.

(I) The basis for teaching aims and demands
New Standard stresses the goal of establishing correct teaching, appropriate teaching activities for students to learn knowledge and improve personality in observing, discussing, questioning and so on. "New Standard" promotes student-centred, that is, teachers should guide students to study independently and students should be given more space to study, explore, practice and communicate to improve their thinking and presentation skills in English.

(I) The basis for teaching methods and teaching means
It’s required that teachers think more about teaching methods and guide students to actively participate in the teaching process, so that they enjoy learning in harmony. According to the theory of language teaching and current educational reform, following certain teaching methods can well present teaching contents, carry out teaching activities, achieve teaching objectives, by which we can improve students’ learning efficiency.

Step 3: While-reading: fast-reading; Intensive reading; supplementary reading
(设计思路:此环节为教学活动的主要部分。本阶段是学生阅读实践的重点环节,学生处在不同的阅读阶段,教师应设计出不同层次,不同难度的题目进行检测。据此,我共设计了三个环节,分别是速读找出作者在高中最后一年的7个精彩回忆、细读完成两道文章相关的讨论题、阅读课后的一篇关于美国prom的短文进行标题和段落的连线训练。速读概括题为了训练学生速读全文,抓住各短大意的能力;细读完成相关问答题是用来训练学生抓住重要信息点分析问题解决问题的能力;附加文章的阅读增加了课堂的容量,进一步提高学生的阅读速度和阅读能力。)
Fast-reading: Ask Ss ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com ) to read the passage quickly and try to find out the highlights of the writer’s senior year. Then present a chart in order to let Ss know clearly what they should do now. Underline the new words and phrases in order to let Ss pay more attention to them.
