① Classics are the gems (宝石) of the literary (文学) world. For years, people have read them to learn more. But now, more people love “watching” these classics in videos. According to a 2023 survey reported by the Chinese short-video platform Douyin, the views for book-related videos jumped by 65.17 percent year-on-year.
② Numbers of people get what they want by “watching” classics.
③ “There are some classics that I am not interested in but need to read,” said 14-year-old He Liyan from Jiangsu. “So I usually watch a video about the book to find out some interesting stories which can keep me reading.” Some people also find classic books really long and hard to understand, so they go to vloggers’ explanations.
④ “The vloggers also add personal opinions to their explanations, making the book easier to understand,” added He.
⑤A Dream of Red Mansions is famous for showing Chinese society with interesting characters and a poetic writing style. It talks about family, society and human nature. These things can be fun to watch but boring and difficult to read.
⑥ “There are so many characters in the novel, which make me confused a lot,” said 12-year-old Shao Xinyao from Hubei. “The mind map shown in the videos make their relationships clearly.”

My dream job
Hello, everybody! I feel honored to give a speech here sharing my dream with you.
I hope to be a doctor like Zhong Nanshan when I grow up. The main reason is that I’ve got a lot of positive energy from the doctors who work hard to save people's lives during the COVID-19 outbreak.Under the influence of the wonderful doctors, I am so interested in medicine that I make up my mind to become a doctor like them. In addition, to provide our people across the country with better medical services, more doctors are in great need in our society. I also want to make great contribution to society. What’s more, I am patient and I enjoy looking after others, which is certainly helpful for the job and I believe that I am capable of doing this job well.
To achieve my dream, I will make an great effort to enter a good Medical University to learn medical knowledge and master nursing skills. Furthermore, I think it’s best to learn from successful people. It’s a good way to watch some medical videos. What’s more, I am going to keep on learning medicine and writing articles about it as much as I can.
