Unit 1 The Secrets of Happiness
Good morning / afternoon,
distinguished judges and colleagues. Today, I am honored to present my teaching design for Unit 1 of the New Standard English (Grade 7, Book 2), titled "The Secrets of Happiness." My presentation will focus on how I integrate the English Learning Activity View, as outlined in the 2022 English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education, into this unit, emphasizing the holistic approach to unit teaching.
一、单元主题与目标 (Unit Theme and Objectives)
本单元的主题是“幸福的秘诀”,属于“人与自我”和“人与社会”范畴,涉及身心健康、和谐家庭与社区生活、志愿服务与公共服务等内容。通过本单元的学习,学生将能够:
1. 运用本单元的核心词汇和表达方式谈论幸福;
2. 运用一般过去时描述幸福的时刻;
3. 分享生活中幸福的意义,并设计一页书页介绍获得幸福的方法。
The theme of this unit is "The Secrets of Happiness," which falls under the categories of "Self and Society." It covers topics such as mental and physical health, harmonious family and community life, and volunteer service. By the end of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Use the core vocabulary and expressions to discuss happiness;
2. Use the simple past tense to describe moments of happiness;
3. Share the meaning of happiness in their lives and design a book page introducing ways to achieve happiness.
二、英语学习活动观的体现 (Integration of English Learning Activity View)
根据2022版义务教育英语课程标准,英语学习活动观强调在活动中学习语言,通过感知、体验、实践、参与和合作等方式,实现语言知识的内化和语言能力的提升。在本单元的教学设计中,我通过以下三个层次的活动来体现这一理念:
According to the 2022 English Curriculum Standards, the English Learning Activity View emphasizes learning language through activities, internalizing language knowledge, and improving language skills through perception, experience, practice, participation, and cooperation. In this unit, I have designed activities at three levels to reflect this concept:
1. 学习理解类活动 (Learning and Understanding Activities):
在第一课时,学生通过观察图片、阅读课文和回答问题,初步感知幸福的含义,理解爱是获取幸福的关键。例如,学生通过阅读课文《巧克力工厂》的书评,思考幸福的来源,并通过思维导图梳理课文内容。
In the first lesson, students perceive the meaning of happiness through observing pictures, reading texts, and answering questions. They understand that love is the key to happiness. For example, students read a book review of "The Chocolate Factory," reflect on the sources of happiness, and use a mind map to organize the text's content.
2. 应用实践类活动 (Application and Practice Activities):
在第二课时,学生通过语法学习和对话练习,运用一般过去时描述自己获得幸福的经历。例如,学生使用一般过去时谈论自己通过爱获得幸福的一次经历,并通过小组讨论分享自己的观点。
In the second lesson, students apply the simple past tense to describe their own experiences of achieving happiness through grammar learning and dialogue practice. For example, students use the simple past tense to talk about a time when they felt happy through love and share their views in group discussions.
3. 迁移创新类活动 (Transfer and Innovation Activities):
在第六课时,学生通过设计一页书页,介绍获得幸福的方法,并进行展示和反思。例如,学生分组合作,搜索获得幸福的方法,并制作书页,最后在全班展示和投票选出最佳设计。
In the sixth lesson, students design a book page introducing ways to achieve happiness, present their work, and reflect on their learning. For example, students work in groups to research methods of achieving happiness, create a book page, and present it to the class, followed by a vote for the best design.
三、单元整体教学设计 (Holistic Unit Teaching Design)
本单元共分为六课时,每课时围绕不同的子话题展开,逐步引导学生从理解幸福的概念到实践和创造。以下是各课时的简要设计:
This unit is divided into six lessons, each focusing on a different subtopic, gradually guiding students from understanding the concept of happiness to practicing and creating. Below is a brief overview of each lesson:
1. 第一课时:Starting out & Understanding ideas (文本解读)
学生通过阅读和讨论,初步感知幸福的含义,理解爱是获取幸福的关键。
Students perceive the meaning of happiness through reading and discussion, understanding that love is the key to happiness.
2. 第二课时:Understanding ideas (语法学习)
学生学习一般过去时,并运用该时态描述自己获得幸福的经历。
Students learn the simple past tense and use it to describe their own experiences of achieving happiness.
3. 第三课时:Developing ideas (听说)
学生通过听力练习,了解不同心态对幸福感的影响,并讨论如何建立积极心态。
Through listening exercises, students understand how different mindsets affect happiness and discuss how to build a positive mindset.
4. 第四课时:Developing ideas (阅读)
学生通过阅读故事,理解帮助他人可以提升幸福感,并运用核心词汇谈论故事内容。
Through reading a story, students understand that helping others can enhance happiness and use core vocabulary to discuss the story.
5. 第五课时:Developing ideas (写作)
学生运用核心词汇和语法,写一个助人为乐的故事,并分享自己实现幸福的方法。
Students use core vocabulary and grammar to write a story about helping others and share their methods of achieving happiness.
6. 第六课时:Presenting ideas & Reflection
学生设计一页书页,介绍获得幸福的方法,并进行展示和反思。
Students design a book page introducing ways to achieve happiness, present their work, and reflect on their learning.
四、教学评价与反思 (Teaching Evaluation and Reflection)
在本单元的教学中,我注重通过多元化的评价方式,如课堂观察、学生自评、同伴互评和教师评价,来全面评估学生的学习效果。例如,在第六课时,学生通过展示书页设计,接受全班同学的投票评价,这不仅增强了学生的自信心,也促进了他们的合作与创新能力。
In this unit, I focus on using diversified evaluation methods, such as classroom observation, student self-assessment, peer assessment, and teacher evaluation, to comprehensively assess students' learning outcomes. For example, in the sixth lesson, students present their book page designs and receive votes from the class, which not only boosts their confidence but also enhances their collaboration and innovation skills.
