Step 2 Presentation(新授一般现在时)
(1) It is used for a present state. Eg. John lives in New York
(2) It is used for daily routine and habits. Eg-I always go to bed at 10 p. m
(3) It is used for present actions that happen one after another. Eg. School is over and the students go home
(4) It is used for actions set by a timetable or schedule. Eg. The talk show starts at 7 p. m
Step 3 Revision(复习现在进行时)
Make some sentences with the present continuous tense
It is 9 a. m. in the morning. What are the students doing now
They are having a PE class on the playground
Mille is playing basketball. Daniel is playing football. Amy is skipping.
Step 4 Presentation(新授现在进行时)
(1) It is used for actions that happen right now. Eg. Look! The reporter is interviewing the astronaut,

(3)It is used for actions in a limited period of time. Eg.I am working on a history project this week

Step 2 Presentation(新授一般过去时)
(1) It is used for actions happened in the past. Eg. Simon played football yesterday
(2) It is used for actions that happened one after another in the past. Eg. Simon came home, turned on the computer and checked his email

(3) It is used for actions that lasted for some time in the past. Eg. We were having a meeting from 9 a. m. to 11 a. m. yesterday.

本课时的设计是通过深入浅出的讲解和练习让学生掌握3种时态的用法。老师从学生熟悉的  吓句子入手,引导生积极造句,培养其主动求知的精神,充分锻炼其英语口语。让学生在领会了本课内容基上更上一层楼,将所学的东西表达出来。在学习和运用语言的过程中,引导学生自觉或不自觉地学习和运用各种时态。时态也是为交际活动服务的,是帮助实现准确交际目的的手段。

教学内容
Reading(教材第22~25页),主要介绍阿姆斯特朗——人类第一个登上月球的宇航员。
教材分析
“Reading”部分是本单元的重点,重点词汇、语法都在这部分得到集中的运用,所以老师应该花大量的时间训练学生的听、说、读、写能力。本课主要是阅读一篇关于Neil Armstrong的传记,只有熟悉“Reading”部分的内容和写作方法,才能完成知识的输入,为“Integrated skills”和“Tsk”部分的知识输出和技能形成打下坚实的基础。

本节课以课题“伟人”为中心,让学生通过阅读,了解尼尔·阿姆斯特朗的生平和登月经历,对为全社会做出杰出贡献的伟人们饱含崇拜之情,感恩伟人们为全人类创造的劳动果实,学习他们无私奉献的奋斗精神和勇往直前的无畏勇气。

Step 1 Revision(复习)

Step 2 Presentation
(1)Skim the passage。
When students skim the text on their own, ask them to underline the words they do not know Then go through the words students have underlined
Ask each group to go through the text again and find words or expressions to match each heading- Invite students from each group to come forward and write their words and expressions under the correct headings
(2)Scan the passage。
Ask the students to read the passage again and then answer the following questions
①When and where was Neil Armstrong born
②When did he receive his student pilot's license
③How long did he serve as a pilot after he joined the navy
④How old was he when he was chosen to be an astronaut
⑤When did Neil Armstrong walk on the Moon
⑥How did he walk on the Moon
⑦What did they take back to the Earth from the Moon
⑧What award did he receive because of his excellent service
Step 3 Practice(操练部分)
(1) Ask them to do Part B1 on their own. Encourage them to check their answers with a partner Then ask students to read out the answers. Next, ask students to finish Part B2, then read them aloud The teacher may ask some top students to explain the meanings of the words in English with books closed
(2) Divide the class into teams of 4~5 students. Do Part B3 and then ask students to correct the false sentences.
(3) Explain the context of Part B4 and cheek the answers together

Comic strip & Welcome to the unit(教材第20~21页),了解部分伟人及他们为社会作出的杰出贡献。
教材分析
“Comic strip”部分通过Eddie和Hobo的对话引出本单元的重要话题_Great people,然后  在“Welcome to the unit”部分通过一些伟人的图片让学生辨别,进而说出他们的职业,接下来讨  论他们的国籍和对社会作出的主要贡献,以及给世人留下的宝贵精神财富。老师在教学中可以多给学生呈现一些伟人的图片,也可就课本上出现的伟人作详细的介绍,有助于本单元教学目标的达成。

通过学习,学生从Hobo和Eddie的对话中了解主人公心中的历史上最伟大的人物,从而引出六位名人,获取他们的职业、国籍、成就、贡献等信息,认识名人,了解名人,理解时代人物背后的人文以及科学精神,学习名人的优秀品质,成为新时代的建设者。

Step 1 Lead-in(导入部分)
Show some pictures about famous people to the students and then ask them who they are.
T: Hello, boys and girls! Today we are going to learn the new topic-great people. Are you interested in this topic First I’d like you to tell me how many famous people you know and who they are and why they are well-known to us in our daily life
T: I have some pictures about some famous people. Do you want to learn more about them Let's discuss what contributions they've made to us Chinese
Step 2 Presentation(新授部分)
Learn something about some world-famous people in different countries
Present students with the pictures about Christopher Columbus, William Shakespeare, Qian Xuesen, Thomas Edison, Nelson Mandela, Peter Tchaikovsky. Ask them if they know these people and require them to tell why these people are worth of respect and what changes these people have brought to mankind.
If students have any difficulty in expressing their ideas, they can do it in Chinese
Step 3 Practice(操练部分)
Firstly, give students one minute to do the exercise in Part A. Then ask them to read the words correctly and to remember them by heart
Secondly, ask students to do the exercise in Part B
Thirdly, go back to Part A. Tell students to write out the names of these famous people as soon as possible: according to the pictures
At last ask students to make a sentence according to each picture. For example, Qian Xuesen is a Chinese scientist He was the pioneer of China's space technology programmer

Step 4 Present “Comic strip”(新授Comic strip)
(1) Listen to the tape and answer the questions

Play the tape again and ask students to read after the tape

“Integrated skills”部分重点训练学生的听力。只有学生能够读准单词,流利地朗读和说出句子,并形成一定的抓读信息的能力才算真正的完成。Part A大力训练学生从已知的材料和听力材料中获取信息,并能用所获取的信息解决实际问题的能力。Part B是对单元对话话题的精缩升华。要求学生不但能够熟练朗读与理解对话,还要学会适当的迁移,提升其综合语言运用能力。

Step 1 Presentation(新授)
Ask students to present what they have collected from the Internet about Marie Curie
T: Boys and girls, yesterday I told you to find out some information about the great woman Marie Curie. I believe you have known her more or less
Ask them to present their information about Marie Curie
T: Now l will show a profile about her to you. Tell me what you can know from the profile
Have students discuss it in pairs. Five minutes later ask them to show the class his or her opinion.
Step 2 Learning “Part A”(学习Part A)
(1) Read and do Part A1
Read the introduction about Marie Curie. From the reading even the less able students can get some器elementary information of Marie Curie just like the date of birth, the place of birth, her husband and soon. After that, ask them to fill in the blanks using the information they got from the short passage
(2) Listen and finish Part A1
Play the tape for students to listen to. Students should listen carefully to complete the rest of Millie's notes. Of course meanwhile they should cheek the answers they have got in last step. The teacher can let students listen to the tape twice
(3) Discussion
Divide students into eight groups. Encourage them to ask and answer questions about Marie Curie to each other. They can raise questions according to the notes
Eg: When and where was she born
What did she study in college
Who married her
In 1898, what did the couple discover
How many Nobel Prizes did she get
……
In a word, the more, the better. Only in that way can we let students become more and more familiar with Marie Curie. It is also good for students to complete the biographical passage in Part A3
(4) Practice
On the basis of the steps above, ask students to complete the biographical passage in Part A3 according to all the information they have got. Now it's easy for students to do this task. But don't forget to ask them to read aloud the passage again and again. This is good for later writing

Step 1 Lead-in(导入)

Step 2 Presentation(新授)
(1)Read the notes in Part A in main task. Read on their own and try to remember the information  about Yuan Longping. After the students read the notes, the teacher asks them to answer the following questions.
①When was Yuan Longping born (He was born on 7th, September 1930.
②What do we call him (We call him Father of Hybrid Rice.
③What contribution did he make (His achievements have increased rice production by 20% - 30%, and in some places even more.
④Why does Amy admire him the most  (Because he spent all his life on the research and development of better rice plants and he has solved the problem of hunger for many people. )
(2) Ask students to finish Amy's script about Yuan Longping in Part B and then cheek the answers with the whole class
(3) Say something about Yuan Longping
In order to do this task well, we had better have students read the script again and again until they have become very familiar with it. Only after that can we ask some students to retell the article according to some key words

本课时的设计主要体现了“学以致用”这一教学理念。就整节课而言,这无疑是一堂令人喝彩的课,学生参与课堂实践的积极性高,写作能力也得到实际的提高。
本课时主要有两个亮点:以前面刚学习的课文为范文,学习其写作特色,并使用“He/She is the the person who…”这一句型;头脑风暴法(brainstorming)培养了学生在英语写作中自主学习的能力,激发了学生的创意与灵感,对促进学生的自主学习、发展学生的写作能力起到了积极的作用。
