Dancing Paper Scraps (碎纸屑)
If you're looking for a fun and easy science experiment to do at home or in the classroom, the dancing paper experiment is perfect! It's a great way to learn about static electricity (静电) and how it works. It's not only simple, but also really fantastic!
What you need: ·A balloon ·Paper scraps ·A plate Instructions: Step 1: Before you begin, make sure that your balloon can inflate as easily as possible and tie the end. Step 2: Place the paper scraps on a plate. Step 3: Rub (摩擦) the balloon against our hair again and again. Step 4: Place the balloon above the paper scraps. Result:The paper scraps start dancing in the air! Why This means there are more positive (+) or negative (-) charges on its surface than normal. The negative charges attract the positive charges in the paper scraps, making them move towards the balloon. Try this! If you have long hair, try this with your friends. Rub the balloon against your hair, and then hold it near your friends' hair without touching it. Their hair will stand up!

We all know the strange feeling of watching the time change on a clock. Although the hour hand moves so slowly, the time is changing all the time.
Human faces, like clock faces, are also changing. And like clocks, the changes take place too slowly to be noticed. Over many thousands of years, though, huge changes are possible. For example, the human brain tripled (成为三倍) in size and began to think more. Our faces became flatter (更平坦的).
If our heads became larger in the past, how will things change in the future Unlike the changes of a clock face, the changes in human faces are very difficult to predict (预测). One of the main reasons for this is the way in which we can now control parts of nature. Hundreds of thousands of years ago, all changes were natural, but now we can actively choose ways for our own evolution (进化).
Just a few hundred years ago, most humans were working in the fields, whereas nowadays more and more people receive education. These are just predictions, and no one can be sure how human beings will change in the future. But with such huge changes in our environment, it seems likely that we will look very different in the future.
59. The changes of humans are hardly noticed because____.
A.human faces never change
B.the human brain becomes bigger
C.the changes take place too slowly
D.we never think about the changes
60. The third paragraph tells us____.
A.human faces can't be controlled by us
B.human faces used to be changed by nature
C.it is easy to predict the changes in human faces
D.humans can't change the size of the brain in the future
61. The underlined word “whereas” in the last paragraph means “____”.
A.最终 B.同时 C.然而 D.因此
62. From the last paragraph, we can learn that____.
A.the predictions will surely be true
B.people in the past liked to be educated
C.future humans must have larger heads
D.humans will not look the same as today

When I was very young, people in our village lived by planting fruit trees. My grandmother always took me to the orchard (果园) on the hill. At that time, they had to carry water from the river at the foot of the hill to halfway up the hill. Even though we worked so hard, the production level of fruit was still low because it was short of water there.
One day, two young men led a group of workers to our village. They learned about the difficulties we faced, and later, canals (渠) and other projects began to be built in my village. “Who are they?” I asked. “They are good men from our government,” my grandma replied.
Shortly afterwards, I moved to another city for my junior high school. The only reason I ever came back to my hometown was my grandmother.
One day, my family and I made the time to return. We were surprised because everything had changed. The canal ran past every orchard so villagers didn't have to go up and down the hill anymore. The river was so clean that fish swam happily in it. When we arrived home, my grandma took out some fresh pears and apples. She told us that after the water conservation project(水利工程) was completed, a policy(政策) was made to encourage more people to increase the fruit production with clean water in the river.
Thank those good men who have devoted themselves to the development of our countryside.
Nowadays, people work hard to live in a big city. However, we should not forget our hometowns where we are from.

Curt McArdle, a British vlogger(视频博主), came to Inner Mongolia(内蒙古) in 2016, teaching English in Hohhot. In his free time, he likes making videos about his trips to villages near Hohhot and has shared over 10 such videos on YouTube.
McArdle saw the big changes in those villages during his trips over the years. The old broken roads in the villages become much better now. Hohhot also opened two subway lines.
“Now you can easily spend a day in a village. You can go to a restaurant to buy some food. You can go to the park to relax... You can pay for everything with WeChat or Alipay. There is always 5G, so I can use the map on my phone to get back to the city. But there was nothing when I first went there,” says McArdle. In some villages, traders tell him that they can sell local products at higher prices thanks to the growing number of visitors brought in by more convenient transport.
McArdle thinks it's China's efforts at poverty alleviation(扶贫) that make these changes happen in Hohhot's countryside. He hopes to go on vlogging to show the real China to the world and become a part of the development in the countryside.
70. McArdle went to Inner Mongolia in____.

B.Because the local products are fresher and better than other products.
C.Because the transport makes it easier for more visitors to come.

B.McArdle could pay with WeChat when he first came to Hohhot.
C.McArdle wishes to play a role in developing Hohhot's countryside.

My Experience of Making a Poster
Last week, I made a poster of the great changes in my hometown.
My classmates and I surfed the Internet in the library to collect information for it. We also interviewed some people who know the past of our hometown. They all think highly of the better life now.
Then we got together to design the poster. Some of us wrote the text while others drew pictures about the changes. With our hard work, the poster was finally completed. We posted it online so that more people could get to know the changes of our hometown.
Through this experience, I feel proud of my hometown. Hopefully, it will have a brighter future.
