Text 1
M:We can’t watch comedies on Halloween night. Today’s theme is scary decorations and costumes — we need a film to match.
W: Sure. I have action films I want to watch, but we’ll view them another night.
Text 2
W: What an excellent day we’ve spent! Playing hide-and-seek in the woods was great, but l particularly enjoyed that treasure
hunt activity!
M: That was the best part, wasn’t it
W: Yes, it definitely was. But I also loved the bow and arrow competition because I got the first prize!
Text 3
M: Have you seen that new TV show, The Night Manager
W: No. Is it any good
M: Yes. It’s mainly set in England, which makes sense as the members of the cast are all British, but they also visit Spain and
parts of Africa.
Text 4
M: I can’t believe it’s only four weeks until Christmas. I haven’t done any of my shopping yet.
W: I did all mine online in October, so I didn’t feel stressed about it.
M: I wish I were as well-organized as you, Sue.
Text 5
M: Hi, I’ve just moved into this block. Can you tell me where the gym is I’m not using it today, but I need to register my details.
W: Sure, I’m just heading there now for an exercise class. I’ll walk with you and show you the way.
Text 6
M: Is this place new
W: Yes, it just opened a few weeks ago. It’s great, isn’t it
M: Yeah. A place where you can get coffee and cakes in the evenings. This is what this town has been missing.
W: Exactly! I don’t always want to go to a bar at night. It’s nice to have an alternative.
M: Definitely. So, did you like the movie shown yesterday
W: I thought it was better than the last one, although my favorite actor was in the last movie. The plot of yesterday’s movie
was much more exciting.
M: Yeah, the action scenes were brilliant, and there was no boring love story!
W: Oh, come on. There’s nothing wrong with a bit of romance in a movie!

M: Hello, how may I help you
W: Well, I have long curly hair now, but I’m sick of this hairstyle. I’d like to have my hair cut short and straightened.
M: Okay. Do you have an appointment
W: No. I just dropped by during my break.
M: There are no hairdressers available right now due to prior appointments. There might be an hour’s wait.
W: In that case, I’ll go to the nearby market and buy some food for supper first. Can I come back at 6:00 p.m.
M: Absolutely. May I have your phone number, please
W: My name is Clara Turner. And my phone number is 266-792-3918. Call me if you are free before 6:00 p.m.
M: Okay, Ms. Turner.
Text 8
W: Do you know what “live under a rock” means
M: Sure. It means being unaware of what is happening in the world, right
W: Yes. But in Setenil de las Bodegas, a town located in southern Spain, the idiom takes on the literal meaning. Many of the
town’s 3,000 residents live in the houses built inside the rock formations.
M: Really How did they come up with the idea
W: It was inspired by the ancient Arabic tradition of underground cave houses, which could resist extreme heat. The town’s
houses are not only cool but also inexpensive.
M: Brilliant! Living inside a rock must also be safe.
W: Absolutely! These houses are earthquake-resistant and unlikely to catch fire. The rocks even provide shade for passers-by
walking in the street.
M: That sounds amazing! I’d love to visit this town someday.
Text 9
W: Hello there. How was the summer holiday How was Thailand
M: The holiday was great, thanks. But we actually didn’t end up going there.
W: Oh, I thought you all set out to go there.
M: We did. But the flights were so expensive, so we decided against going there. A year ago, we could have flown to
Thailand for 400 each. Now the tickets cost over 1,000.
W: Wow, that’s a big increase.
M: Indeed, and that doesn’t even include the hotel and meal expenses. If we went there, we could only have stayed for less
than a week.
W: So where did you go after I last saw you two weeks ago Your face is brown, so you have obviously been somewhere sunny.
M: Then we thought about going to Italy instead, but even that was expensive. Eventually, we went to the south of France.
W: That’s a great idea.
M: It was excellent. The weather was lovely. It also had beautiful scenery and fantastic food.
W: Was everything going well
M: Not quite. The main challenge was the language. Hardly anyone there could speak English.
英语试题 第 2 页 共 9 页
W: Really
M: Yes, I bet if we had gone to Thailand, English would have been more widely spoken.
W: So how did you manage that
M: We had to rely on body language and a little French I had learned in school.
Text 10
Do you fancy a bag of tasty chips or a delicious chocolate bar British people love their snacks. As you can guess,
today’s program is about food, so don’t listen if you’re hungry.
Young people in Britain eat more snacks than people of the same age in other European countries. A recent survey has
discovered that 64% of under-20-year-olds snack between meals. How is this compared with other countries 58.7% of
young people snack in Germany, 53% in France, and only 40.7% in Spain.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) in the UK found that savory snacks, especially chocolate, are the most popular in
the UK. Snack researchers found that the average person in Britain spends 43 on savory snacks each year, compared with
12 for the French and only 7 for the Italians. British people spend a total of about 2.8 billion a year on savory snacks!
While snacks can be delicious, some parents are unhappy that their children can buy snack foods that are high in sugar,
salt or fat such as chocolate, biscuits and chips from selling machines in schools.

第四部分 写作
第一节
One possible version:
Dear Chris,
I’m delighted to share with you my voluntary experience in the activity with the theme of civilized cycling organized
by our school last Friday.
This activity was designed to instruct students how to ride their bicycles or motorbikes correctly and safely. We were
required to give the students in our school several lectures on the traffic rules and some knowledge about civilized cycling
safely. And then we instructed them how to deal with some minor accidents in their everyday life. What was the most
impressive was that the students showed great enthusiasm and interest and developed high sense of responsibility and safety.
Through this activity, both we and the students benefited a lot and learnt a great deal from it.
What’s your opinion on voluntary activity Looking forward to your early reply.
Yours,
Li Hua

第二节
One possible version:
After everything was worked out, I returned to Arizona to collect Maia. Seeing me appearing in the foster home again,
Maia burst into tears and hugged me tightly. At that moment, I could judge that Maia expected for such a moment for a long
time. She had been longing to leave the foster home as soon as possible. Without any delay, I and Maia began to collect what
belongings she could have. The next day, after saying goodbye to the foster family, we boarded the plane to our new home.
Eventually we arrived at our new home. Of course, everything didn’t proceed as smoothly as I expected. I got side-eyes
from people when I registered her for school — a twenty-six-year-old with a ten-year-old daughter — as they did the math in
their heads. I called my mother for advice on how to deal with the pre-teen mood swings that I had suffered myself not so
many years before. In the end we managed to live together, love each other and, in many ways, grow up together.
