7.(24-25高三上·海南·期末)To understand more about the challenges that professionals face as they transition to retirement, our reporter Kiplinger spoke with Teresa Amabile, a professor at the Harvard Business School and coauthor of Retiring: Creating a Life That Works for You. Teresa Amabile and his colleagues have conducted more than 200 interviews with 68 professionals who were making the transition to retirement over several years.
Q: Why do you focus your research on the professionals who are retiring
A: Some researches highlight how health and wealth influence retirement decisions and experiences, but we aim to explore the psychological, social, and life-restructuring issues faced by those who are financially secure and reasonably healthy. Most participants hope to stay healthy and fit for many years after their retirement. Consequently, the above issues need further exploration and research.
Q: Why do some professionals continue to work past retirement age, even if they can afford to retire comfortably
A: Our research has uncovered three key factors. First, some professionals often tie their identity to their work, making it hard to adjust when that phase ends. Second, the strong relationships with colleagues and clients can be difficult to maintain after their retirement. Lastly, some fear losing the life structure that work has provided, which has consumed much of their time and defined their daily routines, leaving them worry about how to fill those hours after retirement.
Q: Does phased retirement — working part-time, for example—make it easier for some people to transition to retirement
A: Phased retirement can be quite helpful, even if it’s just reducing your work by one day a week. Because it’s a gradual transition, you have time to adjust your sense of self, explore other things and realize there is something on the other side. One participant, who transitioned to a four-day work week, discovered the joy in babysitting his granddaughter. This experience deepened his identity as a grandfather and revealed fulfilling opportunities in retirement, finally leading him to a satisfying post-retirement life. One year after his phased retirement, he successfully built a very satisfying life for himself.
Q: What lessons would you like readers to take from the experiences of the people you have interviewed
A: The first thing is that retiring isn’t just about financial planning. If you want to have a satisfying retirement, it’s not a bad idea to think about retiring as a different kind of work. Allocate some time to deepening relationships that will endure.
We sincerely hope the above interview can better help retiring professionals move beyond their career identities and embrace retirement, and our readers can understand more about retirement.
19.What aspect of retirement is the focus of the research mentioned in the text
A.The financial planning strategies for retirement.
B.The psychological, social, and life-restructuring issues.
C.The impact of government policies on retirement benefits.
D.The influence of health and wealth on retirement decisions.

B.It allows for a complete stop from work immediately.
C.It requires individuals to work full time until retirement age.
D.It helps individuals adjust their identity and explore new activities gradually.
21.Which idea does Teresa Amabile support and stress
A.Retirement should be viewed as a different kind of work.
B.Retirement is solely about financial planning and savings.
C.Maintaining a career identity is essential for a satisfying retirement.
D.Professionals should be discouraged from thinking about retirement.
22.Which of the following is the best title for the text

21.Which idea does Teresa Amabile support and stress
A.Retirement should be viewed as a different kind of work.
B.Retirement is solely about financial planning and savings.

22.Which of the following is the best title for the text
