achieve 动词,意为“实现;(尤指经过努力)取得,达到”。

4.regret的用法
regret 既可以作动词也可以作名词,意为“感到遗憾;懊悔”。过去式和过去分词是regretted,regretted。
[辨析] regret doing sth与regret to do sth
(1)regret doing sth.表示“后悔做了某事(事情已经做了)”
I regret fighting with my best friend.我很后悔和我最好的朋友打架。
(2)regret to do sth表示“遗憾地做某事(事情还没有做)”
I regret to tell you that you didn’t pass the exam.我很遗憾地告诉你,你没通过考试。
5.dream的用法
(1)作名词,意为“梦;梦想”
A life without a dream is like a bird without wings.生活没有梦想就好像鸟没有翅膀。
(2)作动词,意为“做梦;梦见;渴望;梦想”。常用搭配为:dream of/about梦想……
He often dreams about home.他常常梦到家乡。
6.辨析discover,find与find out
(1)discover发现,指发现自然界本身存在,但之前没有被发现的东西。
Columbus discovered America.
哥伦布发现了美洲。
(2)find找到,强调结果,还指无意地发现某人或某物。
I am looking for my bike,but I may not find it.
我正在找我的自行车,但是我可能找不到它。
(3)find out查明,弄清事实或真相。
