The world's richest man might seem to have it all, but Bill Gates has one regret. The self-made billionaire said he felt stupid for not knowing any foreign languages.
Speaking in his third Ask Me Anything question-and-answer session for online forum Reddit(红迪网), the Microsoft founder said that he wished he spoke French, Arabic or Chinese.
He said, "I took Latin and Greek in high school and got As and I guess it helps my vocabulary. I keep hoping to get time to study one of these—probably French because it is the easiest. I did Duolingo for a while but didn't keep it up."
Gates, who is worth $79.3 billion, praised Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg for surprising an audience in Beijing when he spoke fluent Chinese. "Mark Zuckerberg amazingly learned Chinese and did a Q & A with Chinese students—unbelievable, isn't it?" he said.
This isn't the first time for Gates to admit his regret over language. He also showed his habits at home and personal insights.
Last February, Gates said he likes to do the dishes himself—to his own special standards every night and also told the interviewer that his wife, Melinda, would likely want Samuel L. Jackson to play her husband in a biopic(传记片).
He also admitted that he would pick up a $100 bill if he found it on the street.
As he took the top spot on Forbes(福布斯) 28th Annual Billionaires list last year for the fourth time, he said he is pretty basic when it comes to spending on clothes and food, but that he enjoys investing in shoes and rackets(球拍) when he plays tennis.
When asked a life lesson he had to learn the hard way, the billionaire said staying up too late is a habit he is still trying to break. "Don't stay up too late even if the book is really exciting. You will regret it in the morning. Pam still working on this problem," he said.

The struggle to "have it all" leaves many mothers giving up their health and hobbies. But dads have more time to spare according to a research, with just 55 percent saying they lose sleep and regular exercise compared with 71 percent of mums. Twice as many mothers as fathers complained that they did not spend enough time relaxing, with almost half of mums spending less than two hours a week with friends. And more than a third miss out on hobbies and interests because they are too busy.
In spite of changing roles in the family, women are still responsible for most of the child care. Nearly a third spend more than 10 hours a week caring for their children, compared with just one in ten fathers. More mums than dads also say housework and tiredness stop them achieving their goals.
But the research also shows mums gain a sense of achievement from finishing the housework, getting their children to school on time or sitting down to a family dinner. The research underlines the fact that women feel under pressure to succeed in all areas of their lives.
As Nick Booth, a marketing director put, "They are pushing themselves too hard and are in danger of burning out. We'd encourage anyone to take time out for themselves. Having your own interests and hobbies and ensuring you get enough sleep is hugely important. Other parts of your life, including work and family life, improve as a result."
The Olympian(奥运会选手) and mother Jo Pavey admitted balancing career, family and personal time can be a struggle. Jo, 41, became the oldest female gold medalist at the European Championship(锦标赛) last year—but regards her children as her biggest achievement. The mum of two said, "When I was younger, I'd have probably said it wasn't possible to have a sporting career and be mum. But actually it is all about striking a balance and looking after yourself."
110. Which of the following prevents mums from achieving their goals?

A. mums shouldn't give up their careers
B. mums should ask for help from their husbands
C. mums should balance different roles in their life
D. mums should do less housework and have a better rest
C
Go to church, then have a big lunch, then go out to play while mum does the housework. That was a typical(典型的) British Sunday in the 1960s. But things now could not be more different.
Some British sociologists(社会学家) recently studied the typical(典型的) British Sunday. They found that people get up later and do less housework than they did 40 years ago. They are far more likely to be out shopping or enjoying themselves than cooking Sunday lunch.
Sunday mornings were busy 40 years ago. Most women caught up on their weekly housework and cooked a nice lunch. They seldom allowed themselves any "leisure" until afternoon, after the dishes were cleaned. Then there would be another rush to the table between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. for tea.
But now, Britons can have brunch(早午餐) at the restaurant. Fewer people bother to cook themselves.
"You only have two free days a week. You don't want to have to waste one because there is nothing to do but watch boring TV." said Elizabeth Biggs, 25, a producer in London.
"On Saturday you are recovering from the week," Biggs added. "Sundays are the last chance for the weekend—you want to get as much as you can out of the day before you have to go back to work."
In the past, British women usually did their shopping during the week, while the husband was at work. "Now men seem to do that as much as women." said Jonathan Gershuny, a professor who took part in the study.
Men also do more housework now on Sundays. Back in the 1960s, men were far more likely to spend Sundays out of the house—at the pub or playing football—before lunch.
114. Many Britons have brunch at the restaurant because ?.
A. They have no time to cook at home.
B. They get up too late.
C. They won't bother to cook themselves.
D. They will go to church.
115. Which of the following is NOT true?

B. why Britons go shopping on Sundays

A. Men do more housework on Sundays.
B. Sundays in Britain might be very boring in the past.
C. No people go to church on Sundays now.
D. Britons all go out on Sundays.
D
Women make better drivers than men for many reasons. Why is that, do you suppose? Wouldn't you think that competing at who has better driving abilities is pointless? If you ask me, I'd like to say, men know that women are better drivers but do not have the courage to admit the truth—Women are queens of the road.
Unlike men, women stop for directions when they have no idea as to where they are going. We don't drive around for hours pointlessly wasting a tank of gas only to find ourselves heading in the wrong direction. Have you ever in a car with a man who is lost? He tells you to shut up when you begin to open your mouth. And every five minutes or so he takes a turn going forty-five miles per hour only to find out he's made another wrong turn.
Speeding is what men do best on the road. Traffic is not a race. There is a reason why men get more speeding tickets than women. Not because we trick to get out of tickets but only because we don't get pulled over as frequently. We don't speed. We have more intelligence than senselessly to put our own lives as well as the lives of others in danger.
My largest issue with male drivers is how a majority of them drive with one hand on the wheel and the other hand doing only God knows what. The seat is backed as far as possible, and they're totally lost into loud music beyond a necessary level. You don't ever see women driving like that.
I feel that the above evidence more than proves my points that women are not only better drivers but also safer drivers than men. We women rule the road. Oh, and men, if you want to continue criticizing women for being bad drivers, bring it on. We know you lack confidence, or else you wouldn't be wasting your valuable time making jokes about the ones you may choose to spend the rest of your days with.
118. If a woman driver feels lost, she will ?.
A. tell the man next to her to shut up
B. stop the car and ask people for help
C. take the wrong turns at a high speed
D. drive aimlessly for hours without stopping
119. In paragraph 3, the writer tries to tell us that ?.
A. women often play tricks on the police in charge
B. women always have more responsibility for lives
C. men are more confident and more skillful in driving
D. men usually have to be pulled over to the roadsides
120. Which of the following about men drivers worries the writer most?
A. Not paying full attention.
B. Making jokes about women.
C. Not stopping for directions.
D. Getting more speeding tickets.

Mistakes are something did, said or believed, as a result of wrong thinking or understanding, lack of knowledges or skills. No one is perfect, but no one makes no mistake. Because many people are afraid of making mistakes, we don't believe, say or do much. They behaved like this just because they want to make no mistake. As I said, it's impossible. Being afraid of making mistakes is mistake itself. Only through mistakes can there be discover or progress. Making mistakes for seeking truth is much more better than doing nothing. M: There seems to be so much about the history of Christmas.
W: I know. I don't know how I will ever remember all of it.
M: I suppose the reason is that it has such a long history.
W: It's interesting to see how the culture of Christmas has
changed over the years.
M: And I suppose that it will continue to change.
W: Do you think that our children will celebrate Christmas
differently from how we do now?
M: Possibly. I know one thing for sure.
W: What's that?
M: Our children will want more expensive gifts than we got!

M: Belinda! What are you reading?
W: The Travels of Marco Polo. It's very interesting.
M: Let me have a look at it. Oh! What lovely pictures!
W: Yes. Look, this is Venice. It's a beautiful old town in
Italy.
M: That's where Marco Polo was born, isn't it?
W: That's right. And he and his father and uncle left Italy in
1271 and arrived in China in 1275.
M: Four years!
W: And they traveled along the famous "Silk Road".
M: I think they stayed in China for a long time.
W: Um... seventeen years. And then they had a really
difficult and dangerous journey home. They arrived in
Venice in 1295.
