Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly popular in children’s lives, from voice-activated assistants like Alexa to AI-powered homework help tools. 1 To help children balance the benefits of AI without nurturing dependency, here are some practical strategies:
Frame AI as a supportive partner, not a solution. 2 If they’re working on an assignment, ask them to first attempt it independently. Once they’ve done their best, they can use AI to check their work or get additional insights. This way, they see AI as an aid in refining their ideas rather than as a replacement for their effort.
3 Mindful technology use involves curiosity about where information comes from. Encourage your child to ask questions like, “How did this answer come to me ” or “Is this information proven ” This not only builds critical thinking but also teaches them to assess AI-generated content with a healthy level of skepticism.
Encourage creativity over convenience. When kids are working on creative projects, such as writing or artwork, suggest they use AI as a brainstorming tool. 4 However, they need to shape those ideas in their unique style. This approach helps them see AI as a springboard for their creativity, not a substitute for their own ideas.
Set boundaries on AI use. Just as you set limits on screen time, establish boundaries for AI use. For example, decide that AI can be used for initial research. 5 These guidelines highlight that while AI is a valuable tool, it should not replace the learning process or independent thinking.
By encouraging your children to view AI as a helpful resource rather than a crutch (依靠), you’ll promote their independence, creativity and critical thinking.
A.Model responsible AI use.
B.Teach them to question the source.
C.However, do not use it to complete assignments.
D.Encourage kids to view AI as a helper, not a shortcut.
E.AI can be a great educational tool if used responsibly.
F.For example, if they’re writing a story, they can ask AI for topic ideas.
G.While these technologies can be incredibly useful, over-reliance can lead to problems.

It’s hard to define what trust is. Sure, there is the dictionary definition — a firm belief in the reliability, truth or ability of someone or something. 6 Our ability to trust in others is influenced by our experiences, personalities and so on.
7 When you order a taxi, you’re putting your trust in the driver to get you safely from A to B.When you hire someone to deliver a service, you have to trust they will do a good job. When you have a secret business conversation with a new customer, you need to trust that they won’t let it out.
The deepest trust is developed over time, whether that’s with our partners, our family or our oldest friends. 8 But when it comes to meeting people for the first time, we are unknowingly influenced by the environment around us. Everything we have experienced in our life feeds into our ability to trust people now. 9 Some can disconnect past experiences from future experiences. Others find it harder to let go and associate past bad experiences with present situations.
Whether you’re someone who trusts too easily, or someone who is very distrustful, you can manage to develop a healthy level of trust. Focus on what you believe in, what values you hold close to your heart and who you are. 10 Gradually, you will be open to new relationships.
A.But real trust is much more complex than that.
B.Such an ability plays a key role in social bonds.
C.Trust lies at the heart of our daily life in many ways.
D.Trust is a key part of good relationships and friendships.
E.Those are people we share our secrets with and feel safe among.
F.This will help you to live your life in a way that’s true to you as a person.
G.How much these past experiences affect future trust varies from person to person.

A simple curve (曲线) that holds boundless potential — the smile. Beyond its charming appearance lies a profound force capable of transforming not only ourselves but the world around us. 11
Brightening strangers’ Days
Imagine the impact of exchanging smiles with strangers during your daily commute (通勤) or while working. A smile shared with someone you may never meet again has the potential to brighten their day, offering a moment of connection. 12
Supporting Friends and colleagues
13 Whether it’s acknowledging a friend’s achievement, expressing empathy during challenging times, or appreciating a colleague’s efforts, a smile rein forces (加强) emotional connections and fosters a supportive network.
Creating a Welcoming Environment
In shared spaces like coffee shops, waiting areas, or public transportation, a smiling face created a welcoming environment. It transforms these spaces into more pleasant and inclusive settings, where individuals feel acknowledged and valued.
14
Incorporating smiling into daily routine encouraged the cultivation of good habits. It serves as a reminder to approach challengers with a positive mind set and to seek opportunities for kindness. As smiling becomes a habit, it becomes a natural part of one’s character, influencing interactions with authenticity and warmth.
Expressing Gratitude
A smile is a silent expression of gratitude. 15 This exchange of positive energy rein forces the sense of interconnectedness, reminding us of the kindness that exists in our daily interactions.
A.Inspiring Acts of Kindness
B.Encouraging Positive Habits
C.This subtle shift in atmosphere contributes to a sense of community.
D.It’s a small yet meaningful contribution to the well-being of the community.
E.When someone extends kindness, responding with a smile conveys appreciation.
F.Acts of kindness within existing relationships can be as simple as offering a warm smile.
G.While a smile seems like a small gesture, its effects extend far beyond immediate interactions.

When parents are on their phones a lot, what will happen to their kids Parents who stare at their screens instead of talking to their kids aren’t just modeling poor behavior, but they could be preventing their children's language development, a new study found.
Parents who use screens more have children who use screens more. And those children have a lower talent in grammar and vocabulary. When screens are in use, either by a parent or a child, there is less talking, teaching and reading in house-holds. 16
What’s more, when kids watch screens with their parents, the study found it doesn’t help their language skills. 17 For example, kids ages 24 to 30 months learn new verbs when they are taught through a live interaction or even video chat, but not by watching a video, according to a September 2023 study.
The study suggests parents should try not to spend too much time on devices when they are with their children. 18 Try to spare a few minutes – start with 15 minutes a day if it seems really hard-where your phone is truly out of sight, out of mind. It helps model good practices for your kids.
Parents are also advised to re-evaluate whether they need to be responsive to everything that comes through on their phones in real time. We live in a world where everything seems urgent but usually actually isn't. 19 It’s simply not possible.
20 It’s never too late to repair. Spend some extra time reading together or in a no-phone zone like the dinner table. By caring about your kid’s development and looking into tips like these, you are already doing a great job.
A.We don’t actually need our phones all the time.
B.It is an easy way to calm children down or occupy them.
C.Avoid checking your phone instead of hanging out with your friends.
D.And this may be a reason for the lower grammar skills and vocabulary.
E.Try not to put pressure on yourself to respond immediately to everything.
F.Another research also suggests younger children don’t learn well from screens.
G.But parents shouldn’t overstress if they or their child have spent much time on screens.
